How many weeks? 33 - 10 more days til DS1 was here...can never get that thought far from my mind...

    What size? Celery - gross

Upcoming appointments? 34 week appointment next Monday

Rants/Raves/Questions? Every day is different.  Some days I feel super pregnant and uncomfortable and then the next day I feel fine.  It's weird.

    Symptoms/Cravings/Aversions?  See above...still applies :)

GTKY: When raising your kids, what would you do differently than what your parent(s) did? My parents weren't very involved in checking to make sure homework was done and how I was doing in school and I regret not doing better as a student, so I will definitely be more involved with that with my kids.

  • How many weeks? 34 weeks!

    What size? A quokka

Upcoming appointments? Growth u/s, first NST, and appt with OB on Friday.

Rants/Raves/Questions? I keep being afraid to mention this and thus jinx myself, but I'm to the point I want to rave about my lack of swelling. My feet were so swollen by this point in my pregnancy with McKenna that it was unbelievable. I have some slight swelling now, mainly in my ankles, but it's absolutely nothing compared to last time. Now that I'm getting further along, I'm noticing more and more differences between my pregnancies.

    Symptoms/Cravings/Aversions? All the usual.

GTKY: When raising your kids, what would you do differently than what your parent(s) did?

We didn't go out and do things a lot (like the park, zoo, museum, ect) nor did my parents try and get my brother and I involved in extra curricular activities. My parents are big homebodies. DH and I already are making an effort to surround McKenna with different experiences and activities.

    How many weeks? 34!

    What size? Pineapple

Upcoming appointments? Growth scan, then OB appointment tomorrow.

Rants/Raves/Questions? At our growth scan last month, they found a white spot near baby's stomach so did a blood test on me for taxoplasmosis and cytomegalovirus (will get results tomorrow). OB said he never had those results come back positive, but didn't really explain the relevance of the blood test to the white spot. Does anyone have an explanation for this? He didn't seem concerned about the white spot either so I'm assuming it might go away?

Also, like @camichael84, I don't have any swelling (yet). I don't have a previous pregnancy to compare to, and also don't want to jinx myself, but its pretty nice! I think it might be because I'm not working and not on my feel a lot? The day I painted the nursery and was on my feet all day, my calves/ankles were very swollen. I do go for an hour long walk every day but that doesn't seem to make them swell (possibly because I'm moving, not just standing?)

Symptoms/Cravings/Aversions?  Craving sweets (ice cream, jello, chocolate) and unfortunately we have all these things in the house! Symptoms - difficulty sleeping, peeing all the time, winded, sore breasts

GTKY: When raising your kids, what would you do differently than what your parent(s) did? My parents were very much "because we told you so" instead of explaining the harms, risks, etc. with certain things. They were unnecessarily overbearing, like needing a list of my MSN friends and my dad keeping a log of all my MSN conversations. I always felt like they just assumed the worst in me. I wish instead they had explained the dangers of online messaging (because I'm sure that's where their fears were) instead of just thinking I was doing "bad things" online. I definitely want to have more back and forth conversations with my kids and reason with them about things like this.

  • Add me to the non-swelling camp! I was SO BAD at this point with DS1 (who was born at the end of April, go figure...wasn't even that hot) that I actually had carpal tunnel.  No swelling as of yet, except for the 3 day workshop I had in NY because I was on my feet alllllllllllllll day.

  • @RG1 I don't know for sure, but I don't think not working is necessarily the cause of lack of swelling. I stopped working at 32 weeks last time, and still had all that swelling. I'm actually on my feet more this time since I'm chasing a toddler most of the day.

Of course, this is anticdotal and could just be me personally. Either way, every day without swelling is a blessing in my book.

  • How many weeks? 35

    Size? Pineapple

Upcoming appts? Next Thursday, I have my 36 week and growth scan.

Rants/Raves/Questions: I don't know what is going on with my OB group, but it's nearly impossible to get an appt with a doc. After 36 weeks, they require you to see a doctor rather than a nurse practitioner, which I'm 100% ok with. Problem is, when I called to schedule my last 4 appts, there were no doctors available...at all. What the hell??? I'm waiting on a call back from the nurse to see what I'm supposed to do. I love my docs, but this is obnoxious.

Symptoms/Cravings/Aversions: I'm so sore. My hips and pelvis scream every time I get up from a seated position. Bathroom trips are becoming excessive, too.

GTKY: When raising your kids, what would you do differently than what your parents did? I don't think I'd do much differently. I feel like I had a very good and balanced childhood. We were involved in activities, but they didn't push us too hard. They had rules, but weren't overbearing. Even though my parents were on a budget, we got to experience things. (I do want to get to Disney with my girls. It's something that my parents just couldn't afford to do with us). I'm pretty impressed by them and find myself turning to them for guidance a lot.

    What size? Florida pomelo?

Upcoming appointments? Tomorrow for routine check in

    Rants/Raves/Questions? Nothing

    Symptoms/Cravings/Aversions? Nothing new or notable

GTKY: When raising your kids, what would you do differently than what your parent(s) did? Both DH's and my parents pushed us really hard in sports. To the point where we would come home from practice and have to practice for another hour or two at home. It made us both grow to resent the sports we played.
We both realize the importance of getting him involved in team sports and we want him to try his best and work hard, but we are not going to be that extreme with him. We want it to be fun.

    How many weeks? 35!

What size? Pineapple, mini-lop bunny (AWW!),

Upcoming appointments? Tomorrow starts my weekly appointments

Rants/Raves/Questions? I have to bring Emmett to my appointment tomorrow. He's been very good at the ones he's come to so far, but it does make things more difficult/stressful.

    Symptoms/Cravings/Aversions? Nothing

GTKY: When raising your kids, what would you do differently than what your parent(s) did? Really not much, except that we were very very rarely allowed to have friends over to the house, and I felt awkward as a kiddo wanting to hang out with friends but not being allowed to invite them over. My mother is overly concerned with appearances which I think was a major role and also just didn't want kids running wild all over the house. I'd love to have our house be one of the more popular hang out spots for our boys and their friends (I say this now.. we'll see).  My mother also didn't make it to a lot of my sporting events in high school.. I realize now it was probably due to some social anxiety/not wanting to be around the other parents/etc. but regardless of the reason it still felt like crap.

    What size?  Butternut Squash

Upcoming appointments?  Thursday for BPP, NST and appointment with doctor

Rants/Raves/Questions?  I am going full time to a maternal fetal care doctor, who also delivers, and he told me last week that he doesn't check at appointments see if you're dialated.  He explained that you can walk around for weeks at a 3, so it doesn't really tell you if labor is imminent (I do know this to be true), but I still want to know if there is progress being made.  This will be hard!

Symptoms/Cravings/Aversions?  None.  I have noticed that I really have to eat small quantities of food these days.

GTKY: When raising your kids, what would you do differently than what your parent(s) did?  I was raised by a single mom and only saw my dad sporadically.  So the obvious answer is that DH will be a constant presence in my children's lives.  But my mom was amazing and there is not much that I would do differently from her.  One thing is that because she worked full time, she was never able to come to our field trips or assemblies during the day or other school functions.  I have stayed in a job that is flexible so that I can be sure to go to all of those things for my kids.  And I have!

    How many weeks? 32

What size? Florida palmelo, scooter board, naked tailed armadillo

Upcoming appointments? Growth scan tomorrow, NST on Thursday

Rants/Raves/Questions? I'm soooo glad to be done with work.  Tomorrow my parents are taking ds in the morning so I can go to my doc appt and are keeping him overnight so I can get some things done.  I'm town between really looking forward to the time alone and wanting to spend every second with just my son.

Symptoms/Cravings/Aversions? Still having trouble eating and gaining weight. Blah.

GTKY: When raising your kids, what would you do differently than what your parent(s) did?
My mom has always had a negative body image and made comments to me that were so appropriate.  I hope my girls feel good about themselves no matter their size.  Overall both sets of our parents did a pretty darn good job.

  • How many weeks? 33.

What size? She's gigantic. Let's leave it at that. She's constantly pushing the higher percentiles, and it feels (and looks) like it.

Upcoming appointments? NSTs from now until the end of time. No more ultrasounds.

Rants/Raves/Questions? I didn't get many comments at all on my bump or the pregnancy until recently. And they're the same thing: "You don't look that far along!" or "You barely look pregnant!" I'm pretty sure these people mean it nicely, but I think I look huge and very obviously round, so I'm kind of always thinking they've assumed I'm just fat. Lol. I prefer the congratulations and the "not long now!" comments to the ones that tell me I don't look pregnant. What do I look like then??

Symptoms/Cravings/Aversions? I miss macaroni and cheese. Also I guess I'm having regular contractions when I go in for my NSTs, but I can't feel them. I only feel cramps when I'm standing or walking around. And I am REALLY tired of her living in my rib cage. Get out!

GTKY: When raising your kids, what would you do differently than what your parent(s) did? Pretty much everything. My mom was a pretty good mom, she did a good job of preparing me to be an adult, but she had some emotional distance issues I'd like to avoid. She's also a workaholic, and when I was a kid I got left alone a lot, and I never want to make my daughter feel like I'm too busy for her or that work is more important than her needs.

My dad is another story entirely and the less like him I can be the better. I have nightmares about acting like him. I've been no contact with him for a little over a year now. He will never meet my family. Period. The end.

  • For babies due 9/6, 9/13, 9/20, 9/27  How many weeks?  What size?  35 weeks, pineapple sized!

Upcoming appointments?  Had my last OB appt today!  And an NST.  Last NST next Wednesday and last U/S next Friday.

Rants/Raves/Questions?  I got my butt swabbed for GBS today.  Fun little surprise LOL

Symptoms/Cravings/Aversions? I actually feel pretty good except for the hip and pelvic pain.  So long as I don't sit too long or stand too long, it's manageable.

GTKY: When raising your kids, what would you do differently than what your parent(s) did?  My parents were very hands off until we did something to upset them and then they'd just ground us.  They never came to school functions or sports.  I want to be a lot more involved.
