I can't tell if it is me just trying to get back in the swing of things at work or if it's actual preggo brain making me an idiot at work today. Either way it can stop right now.
We have two sleeping beauties in heaven. Jack gained his wings on 09/02/2016. Kali gained her wings on 07/28/2015. They will be forever missed.
My 2-year-old is being such a needy crab this morning, and I have so much work to do. Working from home is not all it's cracked up to be.
No, kiddo, I can't hold you and carry you around all day long. You weigh a million pounds and my arms are going to fall off. And, no, you can't have an ice cream cone for breakfast, even if you throw a tantrum.
Thankful for this thread this morning. I needed a bitchfest.
I'm feeling pretty bummed about the house we put an offer on. We spent all day Friday there doing inspections and it's pretty crappy news. It needs a new septic system, the old one is going to fail any day, the knob and tube wiring is still active and appears to feed at least the living room though possibly 2nd story as well, there is seepage from the heating oil tanks, the giant tree in the yard (that we love) is touching the roof and needs trimmed, there is water damage in some areas due to no flashing being put on the deck, oh and it appears the current owner was McGyver... one of his fixes was for the jetted tub and it had some weird cord and switch sticking out of it wrapped in a plastic bag with rubber bands around each end...We're still waiting on the Radon test results but if that comes back high I think we're walking away. If it's not high then I think we'll go back to the sellers and see what they are willing to fix but if it's not at least septic system and electrical then we're out.
I realize we are lucky to be in the position of buying a house, it was just a huge bummer to find out so much was wrong with a house that I really felt had the potential of being our dream house and I'm really feeling the ticking time bomb of only so much time left that I'll actually be able to pack and help out with the moving... Which reminds me DH and his boss were talking and DH gave him an update on the inspections and his boss's response was "Well at least you have time, it's not like you guys are expecting a baby or anything." DH wasn't upset but I feel like that just isn't something you say b/c you never know. I'm not showing yet and we were waiting until out of the 1st trimester to announce at work which seems pretty normal...

@marriedhamstermom I feel you. It is such a stressful process, and so heartbreaking when your dream house doesn't pan out. FX that you find the right one for you. Also? Boss's comment? NO.
My only MBF is that sneezing is now a holy world of pain. I can't even stifle them like I used to.

@tentacular I feel you on the working from home thing.. As I type & edit photos, my son is in my lap holding me. *sigh* they're only young once, right? lol
On another note, last week I went to pick up DS from my inlaws house (4 houses down from us), to find my soon to be 2 year old outside on the driveway by himself. It was a good 1-2 minutes of him pacing back & forth and me staring at him before my MIL came outside to find him. Her reaction?? Not even worried- she didn't rush out of the house looking for him, merely pointed at him & said "no no". Then she noticed me and said, Oh he JUST walked out here. Are you kidding me?! I sat and watched him walk back & forth in front of the garage for the last 2 minutes with the door to the kitchen wide open & you no where in sight!!
We went away for the weekend without the kids and there was horrible weather which caused flash flooding IN the hotel. Evacuation alarms went off four times and we kept having to wait for the fire department. Roads were closed, couldn't leave. Hotel restaurant was flooded, couldn't even order room service until super late (though was so grateful it opened at all). Not exactly the respite we were hoping for.

That sounds like the makings of a sitcom. Sorry your weekend didn't go as expected, but it makes quite the story!
*edit* I'm glad you guys were safe I didn't realize the extent of the flooding that occurred over the weekend. I hope y'all were able to make the best of it!
wake up, hears birds singing outside on a sunny summer morning, I say "shut up bird you sound like shit" this is the kind of Monday I'm having, or we'll just July in general sucked so hard I'm hoping August is better. July started with *********TW********
my miscarriage and then ended with my grandmother passing away Saturday morning. Not in a good mood.
@WinchesterGirl pretty much. I told her if my son is over there the garage door needs to be closed & locked at all times, as with all other doors. She apologized profusely, and said she'll make sure it never happens again. I know people are human but what scared me most was her reaction when she saw him. She hasn't completely lost rights, but it's going to take some time before I allow him over there without me being present.
@WinchesterGirl I will try that, thanks! (Also, I realize that sneezing < childbirth in the grand scheme of pain. This is just a new dumb thing!) @lap018 Hugs, girl. You swear at the birds all you want!

@marriedhamstermom I'm so sorry it didn't go better with your inspection. That sucks. As an FYI, radon is a relatively affordable fix in the scheme of things. Our seller put in a mitigation system for only about $800, so it's likely yours will do the same. It'll seem like small potatoes after the septic!
@kirstynikole I need that mantra playing in my head at all times. "They're only young once they're only young once..." Sadly, my son will not hang out in my lap and let me work. He wants to pound the keyboard and climb up and down mommy mountain like a cute little Sherpa.
@marriedhamstermom - that sucks about having a not-so-good inspection. When DH and I were looking, we walked away from a house due to things that came up in the inspection. While it was super frustrating at the time, I'm much happier with the house we ended up with. Hopefully you find something else quickly!

@lap018 I'm sorry that you're having such a terrible month. I hope things start looking up for you.
MBF- I took a nap today. When I fell asleep it was still cool in the house and I felt great. Upon waking, the house is now super hot, I was sweaty and gross, and felt a new surge of nausea. Ugh
Mine has been brewing. We have a tenant who super sucks at money management. Late a lot, likes to go radio silent when they don't pay. Up until now, they have always paid eventually before the end of the month... we were so close to the end of the lease we've just been dealing with the annoyance until they leave. Now, they've completely not paid last month; we've attempted to contact and work with them, and they either avoid us or have promised twice now to pay but then not. So, we've done all the appropriate notices over the course of the month, and technically we can file an eviction.
But seriously, people, just get out! Give us back the keys, your lease is over this month. Don't make me pay a lawyer and put this on your permanent record to get rid of you!
Then, the guy sends DH a long, angry, judge text about how he told us he'd pay (three days ago!) Why don't we believe him? Uhm, because rent was due the first of last month, d-bag. Just stop holding my house hostage, so we can part ways without costing me more money!
Sorry for the long rant. People like to feel like they are "winning" something by screwing the landlord, and I'm just over being lied to by this dude.
@Lakancook Wow, insensitive much? I mean sometimes my husband gets on my case when I am getting a little too emotional, but that's a bit over the line.
As for me, work was just really annoying today. It got ridiculously busy again and we don't have enough supplies to take care of the amount of people we wound up getting. I mean running out of cutlery and water glasses? We look like a joke! Customers get super pissy when you hand them plastic knives and forks and Styrofoam cups
