Re: GTKY 8/1/16

  • I am a huge country music fan.  Right now I am loving anything by Luke Bryan, Sam Hunt, Thomas Rhett, Lee Bryce, Miranda Lambert, and so many more...my list could go on for days.

  • scorpiomer I listen to a lot of country but older country. The new stuff is just a bit to repetitive for me. I grew up on Tim McGraw, Garth Brooks, Reba McEntire, Brooks & Dunn, etc.

I also listen to a lot of classic rock, alternative, and punk. My current music is actually latin music though. I love latin dancing so I've been working on learning a lot of cumbia and bachata music.

  • @Neikoda I love all those artists as well!!  Sometimes the new stuff doesn't sound like country...but I feel like some artists are trying to get back to the old roots of country!

  • I'm also a big country fan! I finally turned my DH into a country fan too. He hated it for the longest time. Definitely agree with @scorpiomer though that some of the new stuff out hasn't sounded like country.

I like a lot of different music, too. Sometimes I have an oldie or alternative station on and sometimes it's film soundtracks.

  • @Neikoda - we saw Garth Brooks last fall and he was amazing. It took us back to our childhood!

I've got a wide variety of music in my itunes. I'm a sucker for any 90's alternative (think Smashing Pumpkins, Pearl Jam, etc.) but I do enjoy ambient rock (Mogwai, This Will Destroy You), and My Morning Jacket is my favorite current band overall. I've been listening to the new Blue October album lately and love it. I've also got a praise and worship playlist I enjoy. I'm telling you guys, I'm all over the place with music. Except for hip hop/r&b/rap. Just not into that stuff.

  • Lately I've been on a bit electronic kick, namely retrowave acts.

  • I'm embarrassingly not that into music. Whatever pops up on the radio is as good as it gets!

  • Part of my business is that I produce music festivals, so I'm fortunate to have a good combo of new acts and some old faithfuls who drive ticket sales!

Mostly rock, alternative rock, indie and edm. Last show I produced, headliners were 888, Matt and Kim, Cold War Kids and Dillon Francis. Blink 182 is coming out of my player right now.

  • Oh man - I was a music major in college so my tastes are all over the place.... at work right now I've most recently listened to Al Green, Led Zeppelin, Gregory Porter (who I discovered from NPR's "Tiny Desk Concerts") and Alabama Shakes, with a lil bit of bluegrass thrown in for good measure.

  • Currently jazz is at the top of my list. Spotify has several great jazz stations which are perfect for when I'm at work.

  • I'm a country girl too!  We have been to a few concerts so far this year:  Dixie Chicks, Brad Paisley (my FAVORITE), Miranda Lambert, FGL.  We have Rascal Flatts and Carrie Underwood still to come!

  • I honestly like most every music but screamo and hard rock, and '80s Rock. My favorite is alt-punk (Sum41, Blink) but I'm also getting into the tech-y music of today from Sia, Troye Sivan, and Daya. I grew up on "prime" country music and still love it.
