Started this for selfish reasons... I posted this elsewhere, but I'm still super angry, so I am posting again.

Guys. I was driving back to work for lunch and apparently I wasn't driving fast enough (I was going 5 over the speed limit!) and this guy behind me starts throwing a fit. Like, honking, punching his dashboard, like, crazy. It would kinda be funny, except I work in the industrial (read: bad) part of town, so it wasn't that funny. He starts speeding up and tapping my bumper with his. And I still wouldn't go faster because, Uhm, hello, semi in front of me, and he starts hitting me harder! Finally he passes me ON THE SHOULDER and on his way around me, I intentionally try to avoid his gaze because if he was gonna shoot me I didn't want to see it coming, and HE FUCKING THROWS A FULL BEER CAN AT MY CAR. What. The. Fuck. Luckily, it didn't hit the window. He sped away and I didn't see a plate (either he didn't have one or it was in the window and I just missed it). The city I live in is ranked pretty high for gun violoence, even though it's a fairly small city. What's bad (and scares me most) is that an abnormally high percentage of that is against strangers, not family/friends like it commonly is. (Like, there was purse/car robberies at walmart for like a three month stretch and the guy had a gun). Scary world out there.

Oh my gosh that's terrible. I had a guy flip two middle fingers at me because I didn't go through a yellow that was turning (pretty much everyone here treats a yellow as a full on green).

How about when people lay on the horn when you don't turn right on red...when there is a sign that says 'NO TURN ON RED'. Grrrrr

@kristoB That is disgusting, terrifying, dangerous and horrific. I am so sorry you were victim to something that could have potentially harmed you! So glad you are safe - FYI, you don't need plate numbers to call in a dangerous driver to either 911 or non emergency - just a description of the vehicle and your location at the moment. Bless your heart.

Thanks. I actually worked as a 911 call-taker/dispatcher, so I know that they don't need it, but again, I worked there. I hate to say it, but, calling in a dangerous driver is so low priority it's honestly not worth it. Unless an officer is in that immediate area, no one is going to go looking for the driver. The most they do is announce over the radio a description so if they happen to see it, good. In all my time working there, the number of times a dangerous driver was caught by a radio call was zero. Granted, this will vary city to city. The city I am in is fairly large and has a shortage of officers, it might be super different in different places.

Edit to add: I still did call, btw. I just don't expect anything. I always still say call, because if the guy later gets arrested for something else or gets in an accident, they like the additional report to help convict.

@KristoB I was a PIO for my city's police department for five years so, yes, I know it's a "long shot," but it worked about 20% of the time here. Every city is definitely different! Still glad you're okay!

@ahrains - Ah, I see. I thought you might have some insight since you knew LP isn't necessary. but it's certainly different. Like I said, it has never worked for us. Then again, we always have even priority 1s holding for an officer, let alone 2s and 3s. dangerous drivers are more like...5. So yeah, not happening in our city.
Our city has a big problem.
They don't call meth 417 for nothing...

(417 is a street name for crystal meth... named after the zip code for the area with the highest number of meth lab drug busts. aka, my city.)

@KristoB Wow!! What a jackass!! Not only was he obviously drinking and driving, but tapping your bumper while you are behind a semi is SOOOOOOOOOO dangerous! I'm glad you are ok and he didn't seriously injure you!
