Babyshower venue?

I am looking for a venue that fits 40 people. I dont want it to be a restaurant because i dont want people to have to pay to come to my shower....seems odd to me. The shower will be in November so outside venues here in NC are a little iffy. It could be 30 degrees or 75. You never know here. What are some places that you can bring your own food and drinks and them not charge you $1000 for a few hours. Thanks!

Re: Babyshower venue?

  • Do you have a local rec center or community center where you could rent a room? We had one for our wedding reception and I want to say it was like $50 for the whole day and we brought in our own food and drinks but they supplied the tables and chairs and such.

  • What @katesmama0706 said, and also check with your public libraries/art galleries/local churches etc. I had my wedding at a public library, 6 hours for 400$ and we could bring our own food.

Another option would be for whoever is hosting it to have it at their home or in their backyard. My grandmother and aunt hosted my wedding shower at my grandma's house for about 30 people and we all fit. It's all about making sure everyone has a place to sit, really.

  • Do you or any of your friends live in a condo? You can rent their party room!
  • I second the rec room/community rooms at community centers and public libraries. Also, we have a few parks here in town that actually have heated buildings/shelters for events year round. Another idea would be any gyms in the area. Not sure if the Y rents rooms but other gyms might. And colleges. They often have event rooms that are open to the public to rent.

  • Churches usually have rooms that you can rent for events.

Also, just want to point out that it's possible to have a shower at a restaurant and not have your guests pay for their own meals. A lot of restaurants have banquet/event menus. If it's not in the budget, that's totally understandable, but it's an option.

I'm not sure where you live but we have a grocery store called New Seasons and they have a community room you can reserve for free. Our library has a free room you can reserve as well. Other than that, I echo what people have said about churches, community centers and rec rooms in condos/ neighborhoods that have them.

ETA- oh I see you are in NC. Not sure about the grocery chains there, sorry.
  • Yes, public libraries often have a room you can rent. I know ours does. What about a local senior center or community center? Also sometimes community banks have a room you can rent.
