How's training of replacement/backup coming along?: Fine. I'm stressed feeling like I have to stay on top of things with him, though, as well as still do some of my current job duties, as well as help out with another department.
How long do you plan to be on maternity leave? Have you made arrangements / talked with employer?: 12 weeks, and I can't wait. I need a break. Everything is in order for me to start my leave 9/15 (the day before my due date).

Long. I have lots of meetings this week but they're all spaced out in an annoying way that just takes your whole day because you don't have adequate time between to get anything done. I totally don't want to be here.
How's training of replacement/backup coming along?
No training! Just working on writing up what I'm leaving for my coworkers. I have a few projects that I don't really know what the status will be when I leave, so that's tough.

I need to sit down today and figure that out. I took 13 weeks last time and would like to do the same, or
clkse this time. I get 6 weeks paid and I'll take PTO for the rest.

I seriously wish I knew the answer to that!! No idea what my dream job would be...probably non-profit, but I would want to be independently wealthy haha so win the lottery and then work non-profit?
How's training of replacement/backup coming along? They still haven't given a date that my back up will be starting. I've given up worrying about it because it's not going to affect me anyway and there is nothing I can do or say to speed the process along.
How long do you plan to be on maternity leave? Have you made arrangements / talked with employer? Right now I plan on taking 20ish weeks. I've talked to my manager about it, now that we're closing in on 45 days (or maybe it's 30?) before my due date I can officially notify HR. GET ME OUTTA HERE!
GTKY - If you could swap your current job for your dream job what would it be? I have no idea. I don't particularly like my job now, and know I don't have the patience to be a SAHM. Hmmm... I'll have to think about this one a little.
How's training of replacement/backup coming along? She starts two weeks from today, just trying to tee things up for her now. I have a heavy workload and really don't want her to be overwhelmed. This particular person worked here before in a different capacity and I like her a lot, so I am hoping she does not get fed up before I even have a chance to get back from leave and work with her.

I plan to leave right before labor day (one week before due date) and maybe ease back in in December, but I won't start back full time until January. I am very lucky to have such a flexible employer. My spouse gets nothing, which I think is such epic BS for so many reasons. I did not make this baby by myself. It's a man's goddamn world.
GTKY - If you could swap your current job for your dream job what would it be? I would not go be a lawyer somewhere else, I really like my firm a lot. I would love to not be a lawyer, though, if I could afford it. I could be a happy writer/ goatherder/ ditch digger/ anything less time-consuming and stressful. Alas, I think student loans for most people in my job sort of rule out more peaceful jobs. Only workin' the law mines.
But then again, I won't be here do deal with the aftermath so ... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
How's training of replacement/backup coming along? It's going. He's not nearly as organized as I am and is struggling with how to manage the (very slight) extra workload. I have a lot of tight deadlines and frequently get loaded with tasks that need to be completed right-this-second, which he struggles with. I have to frequently remind him to do the things so I can check them over and make sure it's done correctly, which is annoying. But again, I won't be here when he doesn't have the extra support anymore so... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I'm taking 12 weeks. I'd definitely take more if I could. I've filled out the necessary forms, but I need to email HR to make sure we're good to go! I also need to get the health insurance form so I can add DH and the new baby to my insurance once he or she is here!!
GTKY - If you could swap your current job for your dream job what would it be? I don't know what I want to be when I grow up yet! I like my current job, but would like to have more of a decision-maker and influencer role within the organization than I currently have.
My boss just came down to my office to ask me a question and she was all "Have you been sleeping okay? You're so tired! I mean you look great, but man, this is a tough part of pregnancy..." Nice save, boss, nice save.
Also, I spilled my iced coffee all over my dog this morning, which basically sums up how our day is going. We are both not happy.
@runningisrad - sorry your week is off to such a crappy start and that your boss is being a poohole.

Not going to train. have it on my to-do list to make a prioritized list of how to keep my program alive (Don't expect it to strive) while I'm gone for my coworker. I am training pharmacists from another state next week who are kicking up my same program, but they don't seem to have accepted that they're going to do the work full time after the training.

Taking 12 weeks, 5 weeks will be short term disability and I get 60%? of my pay, 2 weeks I'll take PTO, and 1 week will be a parental leave week (so 3 weeks at full pay) then the other 4 weeks will go unpaid under FMLA only. Whatever. Arrangements are made, just need to email my boss/office assistant with the specifics of what date to use what type of hours!

Running a food truck or an ice cream shop... both of which if it was a dream job would only have super nice customers and would be stress free in terms of hours worked/income made.

GTKY - If you could swap your current job for your dream job what would it be? I have always wanted to be an ultrasound tech but for whatever reason, have never tried to go to school for it. I like flying my desk.
How's training of replacement/backup coming along? No replacement, just having another location handle my artwork while I'm off. I have a little anxiety about that because I feel their work reflects on me, but I can't control what happens when I'm not in.

My employer doesn't have a set policy so I must call my benefits center 30 days prior to my due date to find out what I'm eligible for. I know by law I should get 12 weeks, but j don't know what's paid or not and if I can get more time. I plan to take as much time as they'll allow me, while holding my job. I work for a large company so I don't know who gets to control that if I request more time. I guess I will find out more in about 20 days!
GTKY - If you could swap your current job for your dream job what would it be? I honestly really like what I do. I'm a graphic designer. I take pride in seeing the boxes I design in the stores and learning new things and aspects of my industry. I think if I had to pick another job, I'd choose something where I could work with children. Or maybe work at a winery! I love wine. Haha. Or work in the Caribbean where I could spend my off time at the beach!
I was was at training today however I have two care team meetings this week. Not looking forward to them as they are both needing referring to higher/different levels of care but neither family believes it.

luckly I don't have to do this. However I am supposed to be helping train a newer coworker. Finally told my supervisor I couldn't do it anymore if she wanted us both to come out alive. Same goes for office sharing that might happen when I am out on leave, anybody but her

8-12 weeks. Hoping full 12 but it will depend on doc. Nothing I need to do at this point until after baby comes.

Busy, a week from Friday is my last day. I want to get everything done.

12-16 weeks (up to 4 before, and 12 after in NJ). It all depends on when the baby chooses to enter the world.

I love what I do, I just would like to make more money doing it.
How's your week looking? Getting better, just finished working evenings over the long weekend ( Canadian holiday) and they were my last evening shifts before I go off on mat leave!
How's training of replacement/backup coming along? They have not posted my temporary position yet so I don't even know if they plan on replacing me... and we are already working short so I feel bad for the girls when I do go off.

Well after the pregnancy cost poll thread and the previous mat leave thread I feel really bad saying I am planning on taking my full year. Its gonna be tight the last few months so I am a little worried but my husband is being very optimistic that we can make it work.
GTKY - If you could swap your current job for your dream job what would it be? I love working in the operating room, it was my dream job. The politics are starting to get to us though these days and creating a less than enjoyable work environment. But my coworkers are amazing and still can make the shifts great despite it all. I do keep saying I will open a donkey/great pyrenees rescue farm if I ever won the lottery though...lol.
How's training of replacement/backup coming along? I tried sitting with one of them (being split two ways) but she was MIA and the other has been really busy. I'm leaving alot of notes and hopefully that will get them thru the processes.

I don't want to take much more because I'd be totally out of time off and I figure I'll need some after baby is born in case of doctor appointments or sick between the two kiddos. Plus I won't get my quarterly bonus if I'm on leave and we need that to pay down debt and to free up money for day to day costs.

I've always wanted to run some sort of non for profit org, I have no clue what but I would like to get out in the community and help. But for now I'm an accountant in Oil and Gas and it pays well so this is my lot, I love my job just wish it had more direct impact around me.
How's training of replacement/backup coming along? I met with both my replacements, but still need to put together and contact vendors informing them of the temporary replacement. Such a boring task that I have no motivation to do!

Depending on when I deliver (due on 9/23) I am hoping my boss will let me work from home until after the new year and also a little before. He has been very accommodating so far so I don't think it should be an issue.

Not even started but my boss has finally put out the job announcement to hire someone. Hopefully that happens by mid-August so I can do some training before I leave Sep 1.

My plan is until December since my job offers 2 weeks off for Christmas break. If I can stretch it to my birthday, February 11, I will be extremely happy.

My dream job is not too far off -- I want to be a college professor and shape young minds! Lol. I work for a college district so it's just a matter of getting into the classroom.
