Team Green: Do you feel like you have a gut feeling if it's a boy or girl?

This is for my fellow Team Green ladies! My husband and I were talking and for some reason we both sort of feel like we might be having a boy. We will be happy either way, obviously; this is just a--if I had to really guess, I think it's a boy.

Anyone else have a gut feeling?!

Re: Team Green: Do you feel like you have a gut feeling if it's a boy or girl?

  • I am team green as well, and I'm on baby #2. I'm leaning towards Boy, but have a tendency to refer to it as "her or she" quite often. Our first is a boy and we were team green with his as well. I feel identical to my last pregnancy but that could mean nothing, so I'm just in it for the long haul and can't wait to meet my little one and have my husband tell me if it's a boy or girl again! <3 36 weeks tomorrow and sooooo ready to be done.

  • Team green with baby #2 but this pregnancy has been NOTHING like my first, so much more intense overall which makes me lean towards Boy. But in the back of my head I keep telling myself it could mean nothing. Team green is starting to take its toll, driving me a bit crazy and I have 7 more weeks!

Team green with number two. We knew with my daughter. Absolutely no inclination either way. We want a boy. Yes, of course happy with a girl.

  • Team Green with #1.  I don't have any distinct 'feeling' of one over the other.  The only thing is that I refer to the baby as 'she' most of the time in my head, and get twitchy when people refer to the baby as a 'he.'  No idea why I get twitchy, I'll literally be happy with either one, but yea, just do.

@KimmySchmidt Don't feel stupid for being surprised.   My cousin had this gut feeling she was having a boy and was extremely surprised when she had a girl.  Of course it's always a 50/50 chance, but sometimes the feeling is so strong that when it's the opposite, it really is shocking.
  • This is team green #3 for me. We are only half team green though. My husband always wants to find out but I live for the surprised, so as an anniversary gift I let him find out the gender! I heard him say he one time so I'm kind of cheating when I say I think it's a boy. But before that I was so set that it's a girl I started getting kind of upset thinking it might be a boy. I had to have a serious reality check then! We have two boys. This pregnancy has been almost identical besides the fact that I gained my weight faster. So I'm mentally preparing for another boy which would be so much fun!! Then if it's a girl I will be so surprised and excited.

  • Team Green with #3. This is our first time being team green. With my first daughter, I had such a strong feeling she was a girl from very early on. I know it's just a feeling, but it was unshakeable. My second pregnancy was a bit different and I was less sick than with my first. I think that had me thinking it could be a boy, but I was wrong.

Earlier this pregnancy, I thought it was a boy, but now I'm thinking girl. It could be because my younger daughter always refers to the baby as "bay-bee sisser". If you ask if she's getting a brother or sister, it's always sister. She's gotten into my brain. This pregnancy isn't terribly different from my others. I think I was slightly less sick than the first two, except for my migraines. They have been out of control this pregnancy. I can't wait to find out. I've been pretty patient, but it's getting to the point where I just want to know!

Same here!!! It's so hard to not know all of a sudden-- but I think that makes that anticipation that much more motivating in labor!
  • Team Green with #1 here! DH and I have felt very strongly from the beginning that we are having a boy. I still call baby "it", but DH has taken to calling baby "he" at this point. Nearly everyone we talk to thinks it's a boy as well. The only one who says girl is my Dad. We shall see!
  • Team Green for the second time.  With DD, we wanted a boy but I had a strong gut feeling that she was a girl.  (And now, I can't imagine life any differently and am so happy we had a girl!)

This time, I want a girl (because that's what I'm comfortable with, we already have an entire wardrobe, and I want to give DD a sister) but a boy would be great, too.  My gut has said girl all along but I do waver (I'm much less "confident" in my gut feeling than I was with DD - but, really, how confident can you be?)  This pregnancy has been very different from my first which has me second-guessing and wondering if it might be a boy.  Plus, everyone says it looks like I'm carrying a boy...but they all said that with DD, too.

@KimmySchmidt I also brush people off anytime they ask if I have a feeling one way or the other.  Partially because it's silly but also because I have this irrational fear of "jinxing" something.  I almost didn't even respond to this thread for that reason, haha.  (Though I absolutely know that is a completely ridiculous fear...)

@JennM205 LOL, I almost didn't respond for the same reason!!!
  • I'm convinced we are having a boy (#1 for us). I don't really have any good reason why. I think I've been so calm about being team green because in my head, it's a boy. I'm in for a big shock if it's a girl!
  • I'm unconvinced either way. Really and truly, I don't have a gut feeling at all. DH keeps saying we're having a boy which makes me angry pants. I don't really care when people are like "I think it's a boy/girl," but I get super offended when people, especially DH, act SO FREAKING SURE. You don't know - no one knows - so just shut up and love my child either way!
  • My husband is convinced it's a girl. I have no feeling at all. I mostly call the baby "he", but we have 2 boys & 1 girl already, so I think I'm just used to saying he. All of the kids say it's a girl too.

  • We are Team Green #2.  We were also Team Green with DS, with him I had a really strong feeling he was a boy.  This time around, I really have no idea.  I want a boy, just seems easier since we have a ton of boy stuff but would be just as happy with a girl.

Everyone tells me, it's a girl but I really just want to give them a sarcastic answer like yes, the odds are in your favor, 50/50 chance you are right!

  • Team Green #1. At the beginning of pregnancy, I had a gut feeling that we were having a boy, but now as it gets closer, I think I'm more attached to the girl name that we picked out, so I'm finding myself wanting a little girl (but of course would be thrilled with a boy!) Also, I've received a TON of hand-me-down clothes for a little girl, but almost nothing for a boy...so that would be convenient

Oh yeah, and there's that.  We've had our girl name set basically since my BFP.  Boys names allude us and I'm still not "in love" with anything.  Meanwhile, our girl name (Isla) was #116 in 2015 per Social Security popularity rankings.  According to Nameberry, it's going to be in the top 5 for 2016.  Which is a HUGE jump and is totally making me sad.  We'll still go with the name because I love it and have been set on it for months and months.  But I would be lying if I said I didn't hope that Nameberry article had it wrong...!

  • Not really.

We have a lot of boys in our family, so honestly I'll be surprised if it's a girl. Right now my daughter is the only granddaughter on my parent's side. I feel like we're destined to be a family of boys, lol.

But that really doesn't mean anything. I'm kind of hoping for my daughter's sake that she has a sister, but I will be very happy either way, obviously.

  • I don't have a feeling either way.  DH thought boy for a little bit, but he's since taken that guess back and is in the "unknown" camp again.  I think I feel a bit more excited for a boy, but mostly I think that because I'm already imagining the drama my mom and I had in my teens-20's and dreading a repeat with my own daughter!

Haha and THAT is exactly why I wanted a boy with my first.  Now, I'm sooo happy to have had a girl.  Granted, we haven't made it to the teen years yet.  I might be singing a different tune when that time comes.  ;)

First off- totally relate to the names. Girls name picked, boys name still very up in the air.

But I wouldn't worry about nameberry, they only log searches. People may just be looking it up more. Which wouldn't be so bad. Might lead to fewer people mispronouncing it as is-la. #silverlining

I'm in love with our girl name too!! But I have grown to love our boy name so that helped me come to terms that another boy will be great!
Side note - a friend of mine from highschool just named her daughter isla! I looooove that name though. Go with it!

  • Baby #3 but first time being team green here. I have two girls and I think this is a boy. My husband thinks girl #3. I am liking being team green a lot more than I thought I would. It's fun to still be able to imagine both scenarios. I can't decide which is harder for me to believe: finally having a boy or being a mom to 3 girls!!

  • We are team green for the third time.  When I was pregnant with DD I had a strong feeling it was a girl the whole time and had the same feeling that DS was a boy.  This pregnancy I am thinking boy again, but really want a girl.  We have a boy heavy family of grandchildren right now and growing up with sisters was great so I want that for my daughter.  I will truly be surprised if it is a girl since boy is so stuck in my head.  Also, everyone around us is having boys so that makes me think even more that I am going to have a boy!

Names were surprisingly easy this time around.  We have full name for a boy, but have yet to talk about a middle name for a girl.

  • I'm not team green this time, but was for my 3rd one. I just "knew" it was another girl. Everything just made me think it was, for whatever reason. And when my son was born and they said it was a boy I yelled "it's a boy??!!"  And started bawling I was so happy.

Im hoping for happy surprises for all of you Team Green'ers. We're getting so close :) and I'm kind of wishing we held out for the surprise too.
