I've learned a TON the last 2 weeks! I had been wanting to start a GTKY thread with Life Hacks as I'm sure we could all use a shortcut here and there - so feel free to join in whether or not your have had your baby yet!
When you have a tiny newborn who's bottom is so tiny that they diapers keep slipping off of his bottom - try dressing him in a snug fitting Onesie to help hold the diaper in place. This dramatically decreases the pee missiles and poop grenades that have been going off in our nursery!
I've found that placing a few large prefold diapers underneath LO's crib sheet, bassinet, and changing table can help to catch said artillery as mentioned above - this prevents needing to wash the mattress cover and changing table covers.
Not sure that it is necessarily a life hack, but I can't recommend Milkies Milk Savers more strongly if you're breast feeding. The cup catches milk that comes out of the breast that baby is not feeding on. You can store and then later use this milk to follow-up a feeding or as a way to calm down a fussy baby prior to breast feeding the next time.
My biggest lifesaver/life hack are the infant nightgowns. Buy the baby nightgowns that you just pull down over their feet. No buttoning/zipping/swearing at pajamas in the middle of the night. Best.Things.EVER. Boy, girl, giraffe, they are the best! Gerber makes really cute ones that you can buy at Target in boy/girl/gender neutral prints.
Also, a friend did this and I feel like an idiot for not thinking of it. If you're nursing freeze 3 oz. of breastmilk in a storage bag instead of the 6-8. It's so much easier to defrost. You can just run hot water from the sink over it and it will defrost super quickly for Grandma or whoever is helping.
@entropicallyfavored do you think they would be good for fairly large breasts (e cups)? I'm worried about them fitting but want to try it.
@LWC1112 I'm not sure what size I am now, but I was a DD pre-pregnancy, so I feel like the answer is yes. They don't seem size-specific: it is more like a shield with a hole cut out that slips over your nipple:

I bought mine on Amazon!
I'm so so happy to hear this! I just ordered them. I leaked all 34 months that I nursed my first and I'm just thinking of all my wasted milk!
First time boy moms: point the penis down when you put on diapers. They won't pee out of the diapers that way.
Nipple shields. I wonder if I'd known about them with my first two kids if I could have managed to make nursing work better with them. This baby nurses like a champ with them, and I don't even care if we never are able to stop using them!
This one sounds odd, but when my DS was born and spent some time in the NICU 2 years ago, one of the nurses there recommended giving a quick puff of air as you open the diaper and then close the diaper for another 30 seconds or so to avoid getting peed on. Again, seems weird, but it did help!

The rock and play saved us!!! The first two nights baby wouldn't sleep at all unless he was being held. We finally tried a swing and he liked it so we went out and got the rock and play. He now only wakes up once or twice a night! I know it's not the greatest sleep solution but desperate times call for desperate measures!

We did the exact same thing with DS1. I bought it on night 4 out of desperation, because he was only sleeping on my chest. It was a lifesaver, and I plan on using it again with this LO. I've heard people have trouble transitioning to the crib, but we didn't have any issues with DS1.
