How are you feeling? Really good, but a lot of pelvis pain/pressure by the evening. Definitely having to slow things down a bit

Any rants/raves about your older children this week? He's fantastic but with the heat/humidity and my absolute physical and mental fatigue I'm finding his brief tantrums to be extra taxing on me. Have had a hard time and (FFFC haven't been able to restrain from) somewhat yelling back when he's yelling about nothing lately. Leaves me feeling like a really really crappy mom, but trying to stop myself before it gets to that point and apologize to him and forgive myself when it does.
Any questions? Any really good big brother/sister books that anyone recommends? He takes really well to things he learns from books (thanks to the hitting/biting books we've read! HA!), would like to get a couple books into regular rotation, he's really catching on to a baby being in my belly.
What are you most looking forward to about labor? Least? Knowing that it's finally time, I don't like the unknown of the final few weeks of pregnancy. Least - Figuring out the logistics of when Emmett will visit, if husband is staying with me or going home with Emmett and just visiting as well, etc.
GTKY: where all have you lived? This seems like a very Southern-ly phrased question.. I don't think in New England that we'd put the "all" there... and I LOVE IT! I grew up in a small town in central Maine, then went to college for 5 years in Rhode Island, and moved back to Maine for my year of clinical rotations and have stayed up here since. I now live closer to the coast than where I grew up, but still in Maine. Our state slogan is "The Way Life Should Be" and I have a hard time disagreeing.
How are you feeling? Huge and tired. Plus, I'm battling a headcold that has worked it's way down to my chest and DH has been out of town so it's just been a rough week in general.
How many children do you have? Ages? 2 boys, 6 next week (::tear::) and 4

Any rants/raves about your older children this week? DS1 turns 6 next week and I just can't believe it. He starts first grade next month and is just as smart as can be. I can't stand it! DS2 is now in his school's 100 club since he knows all of his numbers from 0-100 and they're working on reading. Where did my babies go?
Any questions? nope
What are you most looking forward to about labor? Least? I'm fully expecting to go into labor at work like I did last time, despite having a c-section date scheduled. DH has been made aware that when it's go time we need to actually drop everything and go. We work in the same building now, which is helpful, but he's in a training position and is responsible for teaching and training new hires. He sometimes doesn't answer his phone or emails right away because of this. I'll probably have to send someone to go knock on the door and tell him we need to leave pronto.
GTKY: where all have you lived? My dad was in the military so we've lived everywhere. I was born overseas and have lived everywhere from Idaho to New Hampshire.
How far along are you? Can't copy and paste. That gets so annoying!!!! 31 weeks! How are you feeling?

Any rants/raves about your older children this week? She's teething and her poor teeth are so slow moving. But Ibuprophen is helping her sleep through the night again and wake up happy, so that's good. I just hope we don't have to use it too much longer. Yesterday, she hugged and kissed my belly and said, "baby!" She has never done that and I have never tried to get her to, she did it all on her own! lastly, I always let her pick out the books we read at bedtime, and lately while she's deciding which one, she says, "uuuummmmmmm...." And it's so damn cute!
Any questions? Nope!
What are you most looking forward to about labor? Least? I enjoyed it last time, it was a rush! But I'm again, not looking forward to the unknown
GTKY: where all have you lived? Hahaa @AnnaS930 I try SO hard to not sound southern, but sometimes it just comes out of me. Can't take the country out of the girl! I have always tried really hard to not have an accent too. There is absolutely nothing wrong with a Southern accent, but I'm from a small town where people don't care about education, and I always equated a southern accent with low intelligence. Totally not the case, it's just a negative connotation that I have.
anyhoo, I grew up in a tiny town in central Oklahoma, population :400, and graduated with 19 people. I moved to a suburb of OKC 10 years ago and have been here ever since! I would love to live somewhere close to both the mountains and the ocean on the East coast!
@MrsVoorhees - Emmett also kissed my belly unprompted for the first time last night! Then repeatedly until it seemed like more of a bite attempt.. hahaha.
He also likes to put his little pointer finger against his lips and say "hmmmmm...." while picking out a book or toy. no idea where it came from, but we always do it now too which gets him going even more. He's such an entertainer.
How are you feeling? Meh.. I aggravated my hernia last week and actually have a new tear on the other side so I am dealing with that. I'm overly tired and just have no energy for anything once I get home.

Any rants/raves about your older children this week? I just wish they would go play quietly upstairs in their rooms and not fight every 20 seconds over the littlest things. It adds more to my exhaustion. They are getting super excited about baby though and even helped me set some more of her stuff up.
Any questions?
What are you most looking forward to about labor? Least? I think I'm just looking forward to having her here and not being so uncomfortable all the time. I am supposed to have a scheduled c/s so I fear going into labor before my surgery date and forgetting something. Lots to plan still.
GTKY: where all have you lived? I was born in Germany, spent a couple years in Atlanta, GA, spent the rest of my childhood in West Virginia and have lived in Texas, Italy, Arizona and Alaska since joining the Air Force.
How are you feeling? Blah. Nausea has come back and I'm not sure what that's about. I think it's related to my blood sugar since that has kind of been all of the place with highs and lows, but who knows. I'm LARGE and uncomfortable, heartburn, and all that normal third tri stuff.
How many children do you have? Ages? Two kids, ages 5 (boy) and 3 (girl).

Any rants/raves about your older children this week? Rave: I took both kids to the dentist yesterday and they did so well! DS had been several times before but this was DD's first visit. She can be very unpredictable so I was worried but she was so brave and did great! They have been driving each other crazy lately (along with me and DH!) so when they have a good day it feels like such a huge win!
Any questions? This might be better suited in the Labor Thread but it applies to BTDT moms only so I'll put it here. Does anyone have experience with losing (part of or all of) your mucus plug? This is my fourth pregnancy and I've never lost any of it before. But two nights ago I lost part of it (google image searched it and I'm pretty positive that's what it was. Those pictures are not for the faint of heart btw...). I know it can mean nothing at all and can regenerate but it made me hopeful for possibly going into labor on my own this time. Anyway, if you've lost yours before did you go into labor on your own? And if so, how soon after?
What are you most looking forward to about labor? Least? Most? I agree with @AnnaS930. I get so anxious at the end with the unknowns. Least? Probably the pain lol.
GTKY: where all have you lived? I have lived in the Southwest Ohio area my whole life aside from college. I went to Miami University in Oxford, OH which is still close to home and I also went to Morehead State University for one semester in Kentucky. Didn't enjoy it and transferred back to Miami. DH and I met at Miami so we stayed close to there when we bought our house so we are pretty centrally located when it comes to both of our families.

How are you feeling? Decent for the most part. Slept for an hour on the couch last night because my stomach was really bothering me (felt like I needed to poop, but couldn't). My hips didn't hurt at all during that time. Will likely be back on the couch in many nights to come.

Any rants/raves about your older children this week? McKenna has been so obsessed with her baby dolls lately. She's always loved them, but she's starting to take them everywhere with her (we took a baby with us to the doctor's office and the hair salon yesterday). Watching her take care of them makes me so excited to see her as a big sister. Also, it reminds me of myself. I loved my baby dolls and playing "mommy" more than anything else. Seeing myself in her is so awesome.
@AnnaS930 I can sympathize with losing my patience during tantrums. She has this habit of just screaming at me if I dare to ask her if she wants something that she doesn't instead of simply telling me no. So I've been losing my cool more recently, too. It also makes me feel like a horrible mom, but I keep telling myself that a lot of my reactions and frustration probably stems from being so pregnant.
Any questions? Nope.
GTKY: where all have you lived?
I've lived my entire life in Indiana and mostly in the central part of the state. Grew up in a small country town, moved to a city about an hour away for college, ended up back in a bigger town near my hometown, moved up to north-eastern IN for a couple years (DH's hometown), then to Indianapolis for about a year and a half before we bought our house just north of Indianapolis (only about half an hour away from where I grew up).
@camichael84 - Yes. We get this too. "do you want your toothbrush?" and the tears come on with a really whiny "nooooooo!" then sometimes he goes limp noodle body on the floor because I didn't guess right! WTF?! He's had some really short naps this week and I feel like crying on the floor because of the heat, so trying to cut him some slack. Sometimes I say "STOPPPP!" then I immediately feel like crap for raising my voice. It's a hard cycle. Must breathe. Must breathe.
The radio this morning was doing a segment of moms calling in and confessing a "bad mom" moment.. they were far beyond anywhere I've been with my child, it was a bit reassuring I guess.
@AnnaS930 Yeah, we get limp noodle body on the floor, too. That's been going on for a while, and normally it either makes me laugh or I can ignore it so not to encourage it. But lately, it's frustrating me and makes me want to give up. Like just give up adulting and parenting until she's herself again.
I would take the whiny 'no' over the full out scream she gives me. It's a whiny scream and not a scream to just scream kind. But still horrible. And it's not like she can't and doesn't know how to say "no" because she still does that a lot, too, when I ask her to do things. I don't think I'm going to love the two year old stage. The irony being it was always my favorite age when I worked in childcare.
I've definitely yelled a lot more. When she kicks during diaper changes, mostly. It's the loud, "STAAAAAAAAHHHHP".
UGH! The kicking/rolling during diaper changes. Give me a break kid. I end up with the "STOP! You're hurting mumma!!!!" It doesn't phase him
Yes!!! I lose count of how many times I say this a day... when she's pulling on my face or poking my eyes, bouncing on my belly, stepping on my feet with her shoes on, ect. She never cares.

Any rants/raves about your older children this week? We're on day 452 of potty training, and yes, she's three. It's currently a battle of wills and she's winning. She just does not care. We started because I was tired of waiting for her to be ready. She's freaking ready but she refuses to acknowledge that.

How are you feeling? I've been on pelvic rest because of excessive contractions. It's been hard being so still and watching DH pick up my slack but I can definitely tell the positive difference it's making on my body so I'm getting more used to it.

Edited because all of my answers were lost the first time!
@Sarafuss I've lost my mucous plug (or at least part of it - hard to know for sure) with both of my pregnancies. With DD, it felt really early (like 28ish weeks, if I remember correctly). I was mildly concerned but reassured when my OB said it meant nothing. DD was born at 38w6d. With this pregnancy, I lost the mucpus plug at around 31.5 weeks. I'm now 35 weeks and haven't noticed any other changes. I have a LOT of BH but that was present before I lost the plug so I feel it's unrelated.

Any rants/raves about your older children this week? Rave - remember when I told you all DS still sleeps in our bed? Well he has officially been in his big boy bed, in his room, for a full week now! Ok, ok, only until 4-5 am when he crawls into our bed, but it's a heck of a lot better than it was.
Rant - we have the limp floor noodle tantrums going full force here also. Had to take him to a party at my parents today where there's lots of stuff he can't get into = lots of tantrums. My mom kept picking him up and comforting him every time he threw one and could not understand why I didn't want him comforted because he wasn't allowed to throw rocks, or dump water on the floor.
Any questions? I guess pertaining to the above - do you pick up and cuddle your toddlers if you tell them no and they throw a fit? I'm pretty sure I'd get hit if I tried lol. If he wanted to come to me, I would let him, but if he is raging on I feel it's best to leave good enough alone? I never questioned this before and was kind of surprised my mom had a different reaction (way to make me look mean, mom)
What are you most looking forward to about labor? Least? Least -Recovery. I was able to do med free last time and I handle pain well for short amounts of time, but when it goes on for weeks it really wears me down. Looking forward to snuggling my newborn the most and also being able to breathe again.

GTKY: where all have you lived? Grew up around Milwaukee, moved away for college where I met dh, then we moved to a random place in Illinois, to Chicago, and then back to Wisconsin a few years ago.
@Sarafuss it's ok to lose part/all of your mucus plug, it can regenerate. I would only worry if it's bloody.
@Shiva14 Lurking as a FTM... But to answer your question about cuddling after tantrum from a behavioural perspective...
All behaviour serves a function, and this can look like all kinds of behaviours to get attention, something tangible (like the toys that your child probably wanted), sensory or escape. It sounds like your child wanted something tangible. The worst thing to do would have been to give him the item after the tantrum, and it sounds like that didn't happen, so that's good. But giving attention could make tantrums in the future function for attention if he was reinforced by the cuddling. So when you say he didn't understand why you wouldn't cuddle him, it shows that he was reinforced by your moms cuddling and may have expected that from you in reaction to his tantrum. This could set up a new situation where he tantrums longer or harder to try and get that attention since he doesn't understand why you won't provide it. The tantrum could be brought on by wanting an item and end up being reinforced by cuddling. Eventually he might just tantrum for the cuddling instead of appropriately asking for attention. Sounds like you had the right feeling from the get go. Hope that makes sense!!

Any rants/raves about your older children this week? Rant: DD has woken up really early a couple of times this week. IF I get any sold sleep, it's usually from 4:30am/5:00am-8:30am. So I'm up until 4:30am and she busts in at 5am or 6am, I can. not. function. Rave: She's been more happy to play with DH. For the last 6 months or so, she has been stuck on me like glue, so it's nice to have a little break.
Any questions? Hmm. Can't think of one right now...
What are you most looking forward to about labor? Least? I'm looking forward to giving birth at a nice hospital. Where DD was born, they need to do some updates. The least- the unknown about the l&d this time. I had such a good l&d with DD (and an amazing epidural) that I'm afraid my expectation will be too high.
GTKY: where all have you lived? I was born and raised in Maine. Then I started college in Boston, but had to take some time off for familiy reasons. I returned to Maine to finish school, met my DH and moved to Los Angeles. After DD was born, we moved back to Maine to be closer to family and friends.
Thanks at @RG1, that does make me feel like I'm on the right track. DS doesn't seek me out or even want me to cuddle him if he is mad at me, it's my mom that didn't understand why I didn't immediately pick him up lol. And if he's mad at me, of course he doesn't mind her picking him up. He's usually really good about stopping tantrums quickly and seeking out positive attention, and I feel like part of that is because he doesn't get "rewarded" with attention when he throws a tantrum. When he calms down and comes over to me I will take all the snuggles I can get though.
It's kind of weird when you realize you parent differently than your parents.....
@Shiva14 Approaching a tantrum is hard...ignore it and let it escalate, perhaps unnecessarily, or try to help thus possibly rewarding the behavior with attention? When DD was about your DS's age, we found a happy medium that would usually work. In the midst of a tantrum, instead of comforting or ignoring her, we would ask her, "Do you want me to help you or leave you alone?" If she asked to be left alone, we would tell her to let us know when she changed her mind and then would walk away. This would usually result in her changing her mind immediately and asking for help, if she didn't ask for it in the first place. The question/her decision to "ask" for help alone would usually jolt her out of the rage enough to speak calmly with her. And that was how we "helped" her -- by sitting her down and explaining calmly why she wasn't getting what she wanted or what she had to do in order to get it or whatever sparked the fit in the first place. Only after we had a calm conversation and she said sorry for the fit or hitting or whatever would we give hugs or any consolation. We still do that to this day. Not saying it will work for your sin as every child is so different but it was a life-saver as a "middle ground" option.
@Shiva14 I like what @JennM205 suggested too, as it helps put the ball in their court. If they calmly and appropriately ask for help(or attention), then I think it's more than fair to help, as THAT turns into the behaviour being reinforced instead of the tantrum
@Shiva14, like @JennM205 I talk to my daughter to try to get to the root of the tabtrum before comforting her. Generally, I have to ignore it initially but if she responds to my questions, we go from there. I'm all about trying to understand her emotions but I think most children went to be left alone when they're angry.
@Shiva14 I don't pick her up unless I have to because we are leaving or if she hit her head when she went limp lol but for the actual tantrum, no. I usually ask her if she wants to try something else that she is allowed to do, and if she won't respond or says no, I tell her to let me know when she does and I walk away.
How far along are you? 33+6 (I always get confused on my weeks bc in my head I start rounding up to the next week at day 2, oops)

Any rants/raves about your older children this week? I have to rave about her this week. I bought her a magnetic responsibility chart because I had been struggling with getting her to follow directions lately. Especially when it came to getting ready to leave or for bedtime. Ever since we've been using it, all I have to say is "you get a magnet" or "you lose a magnet" and she falls in line. It is so cool watching her work toward a positive goal every single day, and I don't have to feel like a mean mommy anymore. It was physically getting too challenging for me to have to chase her to get her dressed, put on her shoes, give her a bath, brush her teeth, while she was fighting it. I feel like it is reinforcing her new-found sense of independence and making her own choices to do things. She even picks up her toys now! I hope this plan keeps working.
Any questions? Is anyone else NOT decorating a nursery for this baby? I can't even open the nursery thread because I feel guilty that baby #2 won't have her own room at birth with all matching everything. Deep down I know she won't care, but I still wish we had some designated space for her. We are planning on building a new house in a few months, so I just didn't see the point since DD1 didn't sleep in her room alone until she was 6-7 months old.
What are you most looking forward to about labor? Least? I am looking forward to being the center of attention and getting all the pampering and having DH home for a week. Also to finally having her in my arms. Can't say I'm looking forward to the pain and uncertainty of it all.
GTKY: where all have you lived? I have only lived in or around my home city, except for 4 years of college, I lived about 3 hours away. I am such a homebody. I thought of moving to NYC years ago, and then DH and I got together and my life went the opposite direction.
On the subject of tantrums: My DD is a little older so she is much more able to communicate which=less tantrums over all. When she was younger though I always found that if distraction/redirection didn't work (like if we were in public I would just say "honey look at that ___ over there!") then I would just ignore it, walk to the other room, and not engage. If it was bad enough and we were in public I just tried not to engage with her and leave wherever we were as soon as possible. As soon as she realized she wasn't getting a reaction out of me she would switch tactics. Mind you, I obviously didn't always remember to do this and lost my cool many MANY times, but I always found that letting my own emotions escalate made things 10x worse. A lot of times the serious tantrums just meant she was either tired or hungry, so there was really nothing I could do to stop it. I just tried to keep my voice calm/monotone and let her work through it until I could get some food in her or get her in bed.
@Shiva14 my little man is 19 months, tantrums so far are super short. We let him and often say out loud "ok, take a moment... we will be waiting for you" especially if family is around so they know we acknowledge he is upset but know he can work it out. We always give hugs when he comes to us after and is pulled together.
Also, I wouldn't count on your parenting be different than your moms. Grandparents (and myself as an aunt) want to step in and comfort. I never understood why my sister let her kids tantrum until I had my own and started dealing with the frequency. Hahah
@TheTamedShrew this baby isn't getting a nursery either, she will share a room with DD. All im doing is buying a "C" to go on the wall with DD1's initial. I don't feel bad about it I did, however, feel bad that I didn't buy her any clothes. lol so I bought her a special outfit like I did for DD1 because I felt guilty.
@AnnaS930 that sounds very similar to our approach. His tantrums are also super short but he will not speak or communicate verbally during them (he doesn't speak a whole lot yet anyway) so we just tell him "I'm sorry your upset about xyz, how about we try (toy/book/food) when you're ready". And haha, my mom claimed she NEVER let me throw a tantrum lol. She must be the first parent in history
We did have one really bad one a few weeks ago when Sebastian decided to draw on the wall. We offered him a coloring book but he kept running over to the wall, so we took the crayons. Holy cow - he followed us around for 30 minutes throwing himself at our feet and hitting any comforting hands or distractions we offered away. In the end we had to just ignore him. I'm scared that was my preview to the terrible twos.....
How are you feeling? Feeling pretty good right now. A week ago it was rough. It's weird that it comes and goes in stages. It was always pretty easy with my first but I guess then I wasn't also chasing a toddler.

GTKY: where all have you lived? I was born and raised in a small Missouri town. I've been in Missouri my whole life except for one semester in college when I studied abroad in the Domincan Republic.
@Shiva14 Just remembered (as we were handling fit #2376 for the day) that another thing we do is have DD "take breaks" when she's upset. I'm not sure how it started - she started calling it that - but basically it's just taking deep breaths until she is calm and we can talk. We do it when she's overly rambunctious, too. Seems to work well, usually. Even when she's in the middle of the worst of the worst, if I "take breaks" too, she catches on and does the same. (And, not going to lie, it helps me keep it together when I'm about to lose my mind sometimes. Those tantrums can be brutal...for all of us!)
How are you feeling? Mostly pretty good, heart burn is a bitch and things are getting cramped but hanging in pretty well
How many children do you have? Ages? 1 DS, turns 2 on Aug 22nd
What team are you? Green
Any rants/raves about your older children this week? Having some trouble getting my DS to bed lately. I think it's because he has no room left to snuggle on my lap so he's uncomfortable and refuses to go to bed, my husband can get him down without a prob so I may just have him take over for a few weeks.
Any questions? Nada...
What are you most looking forward to about labor? Least? I enjoyed my last labor, my husband was very supportive and I really enjoyed the bond we made during the process. I'm NOt looking forward to being away from DS for the day or two... I've only ever left him.over night 2x in his life and I hated it each time.

Re: BTDT Check-In last one in July!!
How are you feeling? Really good, but a lot of pelvis pain/pressure by the evening. Definitely having to slow things down a bit
How many children do you have? Ages? 1 son, 1.5 years old
What team are you? Blue #2
Ages? 2 boys, 6 next week (::tear::) and 4
What team are you? blue
How many children do you have? Ages? 2 boys ages 6 and 4

What team are you? Blue!

How many children do you have? Ages? 1 daughter that will be 2 in September.

The radio this morning was doing a segment of moms calling in and confessing a "bad mom" moment.. they were far beyond anywhere I've been with my child, it was a bit reassuring I guess.
How are you feeling? Tired and large.
How many children do you have? Ages? Reese is three
What team are you? Green
Any rants/raves about your older children this week? We're on day 452 of potty training, and yes, she's three. It's currently a battle of wills and she's winning. She just does not care. We started because I was tired of waiting for her to be ready. She's freaking ready but she refuses to acknowledge that.
Any questions?
What are you most looking forward to about labor? Least? Seeing if I can go un-medicated again. Least - not knowing when it's going to start.
GTKY: where all have you lived? Born in Delaware and lived there until I was ten. Lived in various places in PA since then.
How are you feeling? I've been on pelvic rest because of excessive contractions. It's been hard being so still and watching DH pick up my slack but I can definitely tell the positive difference it's making on my body so I'm getting more used to it.
How many children do you have? Ages? DD, almost 3

Any rants/raves about your older children this week? It's been tantrum city over here the last couple of days. I feel bad but I just don't have the patience or physical stamina to deal.

How are you feeling?
Blah. My pelvic bone hurts so bad it feels bruised, but I feel like I can't complain too much compared to a lot of other momma's.

I grew up in Denmark and now live in Florida. I'll probably stay in Florida even though it's a little crazy, definitely staying in the states.
How are you feeling? Like crap. My whole body just feels like I ran a marathon.

Any rants/raves about your older children this week? He's just so freaking adorable. He really is so much fun most of the time. I'm worried about losing the closeness we have now.
Any questions? Nada
What are you most looking forward to about labor? Least? Most: seeing if I can manage a vaginal birth for twins, least: worrying when it's going to happen
How are you feeling? Same pains, different day.

Any rants/raves about your older children this week? I'm seriously sick of them fighting with eachother. But, at the same time, I'm really proud of how sweet they're being with me. They're always so concerned and trying to be super helpful.
Any questions? Nope.
What are you most looking forward to about labor? Least? Meeting these little munchkins is what I'm most looking forward to. But, even though I've been through it before, the idea of a c-section scares the bejeesus out of me!

It's kind of weird when you realize you parent differently than your parents.....
How are you feeling? Meh. The top of my right foot is bruised from the foot being swollen so many days in a row. DD keeps accidentally stepping on it

Any rants/raves about your older children this week? She's been helping me clean up the nursery and wash her old clothes for her sister, its pretty cute.
Any questions? I would ask how everyone else is dealing with having a toddler and being pregnant, but it seems like we're all pretty much on the same page.
What are you most looking forward to about labor? Least? I'm trying not to think about it at all, lest I scare the heck out of myself. In my mind I skip forward a few months to the holidays and the point where I'm sleeping again
GTKY: where all have you lived? Born in England, France, grew up in the Seattle area, moved to KS for college and we're still here, although slightly farther East. I'm pushing DH to move elsewhere bc I get bored staying in one place

How many children do you have? Ages? DD1 is 3 yrs old

Also, I wouldn't count on your parenting be different than your moms. Grandparents (and myself as an aunt) want to step in and comfort. I never understood why my sister let her kids tantrum until I had my own and started dealing with the frequency. Hahah

Any rants/raves about your older children this week? Not really. I fee like I've had less patience for tantrums and things when they happen, and I'm really trying to be better. I also feel sort-of clingy to her, because I stay home and know that our time as just he 2 of us is running short.
Any questions?
