Toddlers: 24 Months+

Phil & Ted Owners, Come in!!!

OK....so everyone is ranting and raving about this stroller....Is it really that awesome??  I need a double stroller...I have 3 mos to go...

Here are my issues/questions:

How do you get the infant in and out of the back "bassinet"?? Is it all see thru? like netted for ventilation?  It looks so closed up on the site....

Also once you pass the infant stage for the kids seat on the bottom...do you lose your storage basket??  I see the pic of the final stage where theyre both sitting in reg seats, (top and bottom) and the bottom kids feet look like theyre in the basket....

Its WAY more money than I wanted to spend on a double....IS IT WORTH IT??

p.s. I live in S. FLA, we drive everywhere we want to go.

Re: Phil & Ted Owners, Come in!!!

  • I have the Phil and Teds, I have not used the doubles kit yet, as our son will not be here until May. ?I have been using it for the las year and a half as a single stroller with my son and LOVE IT! ?It has been the only stroller I use. ?I have a close friend that uses it as a double and there has never been any problem getting the second child in and out of the back. ?Also, when you are using the bassinet part when the baby is first born you can see completely through the back of the stroller to get the baby in and out. ?The sides are closed up, however there is a lot of space in the back. ?Once the baby can hold his/her head up well you will be putting them in the second seat in the back. ?Yes, you will lose some of the storage space in the bottom once the second child is back there. ?They do have some accessories to help out with this as well though.?

    ?

I hope I have been somewhat helpful. ?It is pricey, however, I have been using as much as possible the last year and will continue to use it, especially once I can jog again!?

  • Okay... here's my beef, which I've written a million times...

make a list of your top 3 must haves in a double

then go find every single one you can to play with...

I found a TON... and given our situation (we moved to NYC when ds was 8 m/o) the P&T was the best option. Had we stayed in IL where I only used the double for walking/jogging... I would have gotten a baby jogger.  I thought I would get that anyway... but they are so wide. And the tandems.. Holy moly .. so big!  The P&T is perfect for here... narrow... I can even get it in and around our Gymboree (which is no small feat).  I saw a woman with a Graco double in FAO last month and she was just wrestling with the darn thing... I was SO grateful to have my P&T at that very moment. It maneuvers like a dream... smooth, great.

we waited a long time before buying a double.  We knew we were moving, so wanted to make sure we got something that would fit our lifestyle wherever we were going.  I made do with our baby trend single jogger and my peg perego pliko p3.  Ds either went into the hipsling or baby bjorn... or dd walked and ds went into the stroller.. when that was the case, if dd got tired or fussy, I could hipsling her with the hotsling (she was 19m/o when ds was born).

the P&T... I usually put dd in the back seat if we go to the mall or museums or the library... b/c she will want to walk on her own while we're in there.  but for walks I put her in the front and ds in the back.    either way, I put my diaper bag in first and place it in such a way that it's easy for me to get stuff out of it. There is not a ton of room for shopping bags if dd is in the back.  If you shop a ton and that's the primary use, you may want something else (the new joovy caboose, sit in stand-type stroller, has the capability to hold an infant carseat in the back while the toddler sits in the front seat, not sure on how the storage space is.. .but a friend loves her joovy).  if you are a hard core jogger, I'd highly recommend the baby jogger brand.... NICE!  Okay, back to the P&T... the newborn stage configuration.... the back is open when laid flat... there is a vinal flap that you can attach and then you can see the newborn feet from the front. lol.

all of the doubles I looked at were pricey.. that's why I suggest finding them to play with them.  I had one friend say that her hubby hit the back seat of the P&T while walking... but I'm 4'11" and dh is 6'1" and we have had no problem... maybe a stride thing?  I love the phil and ted... LOVE LOVE LOVE it.. it's perfect for us and our environment.

    Good luck deciding!
