Re: Cat vs baby

  • I keep seeing this comic making the rounds on facebook and I always feel mildly offended by it. I feel like it's degrading people who choose to become parents. Is this just me?

  • Oh I thought it was hilarious because I'm a crazy cat lady in training.

  • It's not that I don't love cats, I do. But my cats have always been worse than babies. I just didn't like how they played on the "you have no life once you have a baby" stereotype.

  • Yeah - it definitely over dramatized their jokes - and I found that the only part of it that really reminded me of either of my cats was how cats are creepy and like to watch you DTD towards the end - I always have to kick my cats out of our room because it's just weird to know they are watching.

  • I think it's also largely the people who tend to share it (not you @ceclarlinetlo!). I've seen it linked on social media a lot, often by the kind of people that also leave really depressing comments on pregnancy announcements like "Congrats on doing something that millions of people do every year" and "way to go on overpopulating the world and expelling a wad of flesh out of your vagina" and other really assholish things.

@ceclarlinetlo Yes to the cats! We'll often cease the activity, then roll over and our cat has been on the bed the whole time, giving us a "You two should be ashamed of yourselves" look, haha!!

I think the comic is funny, but often shared by pretentious asshats, like @canavara said.

  • Oh wow - things like that make me glad I got off Facebook when I did - that's just uncalled for.

  • One time, my husband and I were doing the deed, and my cat walked across my stomach in the middle of it.  It took a while to get in the mood again, once we got the cat out of the bedroom. Lol. This cartoon had me laughing, even though most of it isn't true.
  • What's hilarious is while this thread was happening last night, we were over at a friend's house playing The Oatmeal's kickstarter game Exploding Kittens (the game isn't horrible like the name sounds, I promise). On that note, cat fails might be a funny siggy challenge at some point.

You should definitely suggest that for next month. I would go crazy with the 'cat vs cucumber' gifs. LOL
