Hi All, trying to figure out when is a good time to have my betas checked. Do most people get this done at 4 weeks, 5 weeks, 6 weeks or sooner? I want to switch doctors which is why I'm asking, I want to have a game plan on the phone and in case an appointment takes long (which it probably won't) but just in case. I have a couple doctors I'm calling, might possibly make 2 appts if both seem good to compare.
I had betas checked at my first appointment at 6 weeks- they didn't trend them but just wanted to make sure they were over 5000 before I had my first ultrasound. They were over 21,000!
I got put on hold for eternity. They said you meet with a nurse practitioner for a blood draw at 6 weeks to confirm pregnancy. Then ultra sound thereafter. Kind of blows.
I had three draws this time, twice in week 6 and once in week 7 because I asked for another... Last pregnancy with a terrible OB I only had them at my 8 week mega blood work.
Every practice is different, the more important thing is the rate they change no matter how far along you are. Good luck finding a provider your happy with! Make sure they listen to your concerns and don't just inform you what to do.
I have had 10dpo (BFP day), 13 DPO, 16DPO and 21 DPO. It will get checked again next week at my appointment (30DPO) and probably weekly after that through first tri. I am seeing the RE for recurrent losses.

The first draw doesn't mean much without a second draw to see if it is doubling.
