Trouble TTC

I think I ovulated?

Hello all,

I am new to the TTC forum world but not new to TTC (about a year).  I was at cycle day 35 with no period and thought for sure I was pregnant. BFN. No feelings of AF coming. Then on CD 38, I felt a sharp pain on my left side/hip bone area that lasted for the day. I did the deed with hubby the next day.. A few days later, my nipples and front of my breasts became sensitive.  I've been having mild intermittent cramp-like sensations on and off for a few days. I'm now at CD 50. Still no period.  It's too early to test I feel, because if I did ovulate at CD 38 and possibly conceived around that time, then I'm not technically due for AF (It's 2 weeks after ovulation if I'm not mistaken).   I keep feeling like she's coming but doesn't.  My last few cycles in the past 6 months have regulated out to be between 30 - 35 days.  Before that, they were over 40 and one went as long as 53 way back near Christmas time. My BBT's are higher than they were at the beginning of my cycle.  I actually stopped bothering with BBT because my GYN told me I'm not ovulating since my cycles aren't regular and told me not to bother with BBT/OPK's until further testing / prescription meds are implemented.  So last week, I thought I'd take my BBT.  For 4 days, I took it consecutively and it was 0.3 degrees higher than my BBT's at the beginning of my cycle.  I'm wondering if I did ovulate (and maybe did it super late.. going through stressful times).  When should I test again / go to my GP if I don't get my period??  Even if I am not pregnant and ovulated on my own, I'd be soo happy!  One step closer..
I am not on any medications.  About 6 months ago, I decided to adopt a healthy lifestyle and exercise more, eat better and be mindful of sugar intake.

  • Welcome.

without consistent temping you can't really tell if you ovulated. You should test once a week until you get AF or a positive. If you go 60 days with no AF and BFNs you should call your doctor. If you did O on CD38 you should expect AF between CD48-54 depending on your luteal phase length.

  • @lissylew...your journey sounds kind of similar to mine! DH and I stopped preventing nearly three years ago but after a second tri miscarriage my cycles got totally out of whack and progressively got longer until my OB said I was no longer ovulating (that was in December) I tried two cycles on Letrozole before I decided I wanted to try to get my body back in order naturally. Since June 1st I've dedicated myself to the gym,a gluten/dairy free diet, with limited sugar and alcohol and starting to get rid of all the toxic chemicals in our house. I started temping and found out that I was in fact ovulating but much later than anyone thought (last cycle it was on CD33). My last three cycles have been 50, 45 and 47 days. I didn't get a BFP but I did get a confirmed O and even that is a blessing.
GL and I hope you get your BFP but if there is a next cycle I highly recommend that you keep temping just so you can confirm.

  • Thank you ladies. I am sure that evil AF will come.. I've got the typical cramps! Lol I will temp consistently this time.. I felt like it was futile since it never changed before but maybe I ovulate just not consistently...
