I like the name Tess &/or Tessa but it sort of sounds like a nickname to me. What do you think? Also, any baby naming sites out there where you can type in a child's name and get sibling names that go with it?
I'm in the minority. To me, both sound like nicknames.
TTC #1 for over 5 years - too many to count IF treatments (tried everything and anything), repeat miscarriages.
Finally, Sticky Success!! B/G Twins arrived 2011.
If it were my kid, I'd name her Theresa/Teresa and use Tessa as a nn (it's even on my list). But it's a nn that is OK as a full name and I wouldn't assume that it was a nn automatically.
I absolutely love the name Tessa, it was top on my list till DH vetoed it.
I dont think that siblings names have to go together. I think you should pick a name you love for every child and not worry about whether they "match" or not.
Re: Is Tess/a too "nicknamey"
website: nymbler.com (you type in names you like, and it gives you names in the same style)
I don't think of Tess or Tessa as a nickname. Not sure what they would be short for, aside from Contessa.?
I agree - Tess sounds like a nickname, but Tessa doesn't. I like Tessa and with that you can still call her Tess if you want.

Tess/Tessa are traditionally nicknames for Theresa/Teresa. (The other NN choice for Theresa/Teresa being Terri/Teri/Terry).
But, I don't necessarily think that Tessa is too nicknamey to use... I wouldn't name her Tess, but I think Tessa would be fine, with Tess as the NN.
