Morning routine

Now that our babes are getting mobile how is everyone managing their mornings? My LO used to fall back asleep while I would get ready for the day but now she's on the go and all over the place rolling, wiggling, and trying to crawl making getting my self ready and at the same time keep an eye on her really difficult. Are people using packnplays? Baby gates? She hates the bouncy seat after about 5 minutes.

I still shower at night so there's less to do in the mornings.  We get up and I nurse DS then feed him his breakfast.  The he goes in his pack n play in our room to play with his "friends" (aka stuffed animals) while I get ready.  Then I get him dressed and we head out for the morning.  He's in leap 5, so he's pretty clingy now, but as long as he can still see me, he mostly does OK in the pack n play

  • No advice yet since my baby isn't really moving that much still but i was just discussing this with my husband this morning. I don't know what I'm going to do when I can't just lay him on his kick-n-play mat while I get ready for work. I'll definitely be following this thread for tips!
  • I usually put my LO in her high chair while I get ready or if I'm in the kitchen cooking, doing laundry, etc. She likes to watch me as I do things so she doesn't really fuss in there.
  • I get up 30-40 minutes before he wakes, to get ready.  That way, if he does wake up on the earlier side, I am pretty much good to go and will not have a whole lot left to do, to get ready for work.  He entertains himself on his play mat, or in his crib while I do get ready. When he was smaller, we used to put him in his swing to hang out and play in.  There have been 3, maybe 4 times since he's been born where I was mid-getting ready and he woke up and did not want anything to do with playing. Those few times, I had to call my mom (who watches him), to come a little earlier than her usual time.
  • I usually leave her in her crib if she is awake before I get my shower done. I just put her fishy thing on (a musical thing that is on the crib) and she is usually ok until I'm ready to feed her. Then after I feed her, I just put her on the center of my bed while I get dressed/do hair, etc. I don't leave the bedroom with her there though, bc she loves roll! Then we go. I get ready pretty fast and prepare everything the night before so it isn't a long process, usually out the door in 45 min from when she wakes up, 1 hr from when I wake up. I hate the mornings where I have to wake her up though, I feel so bad!
  • I just went back work last week and our current schedule is my husband showers at night so he can wake up with her at 6 (while I quickly shower.). He changes her and gets her dressed and makes coffee, then I take over at 630 so he can leave for work. I feed her, we read a couple of books, then we stroller walk the dog, and then we stroller walk again for exercise (my only chance for exercise all day!). That's usually done by 745 or 8, we play for a half hour, I throw on my work clothes, grab a portable breakfast that I eat on the way, and then it's off to day care/work! I'm lucky that Rose loves her Ergo bouncer and will happily chill in it as long as needed if I need to change clothes or put on makeup, or if I decide to get fancy and scramble some eggs. ;). I'm sure this will change as she gets more mobile though! She's only 5.5 months right now.
  • I put her in the bumbo while I make my coffee and her and DS's breakfast. Then I feed her in her high chair before putting her in the exersaucer while I get myself ready. Once I can keep an eye on her I'll sit her on the floor and let her move around more.
