  • Good question!! I know exactly how you feel. Sometimes it's hard to enjoy life when you are constantly waiting for something so life changing I feel like. I'm  waiting to start stims for my first IVF.

Does anyone else feel like sometimes they put their life on hold during all this IF treatment? We've been looking for months for a new bedroom set and I found one I like but I just can't pull the trigger. Same with every other purchase over $100. I just think- what if I need this money for another round of IVF (and we are so lucky to have coverage for the first!!) it's hard to keep on living through all this but I try. If anyone has any advice on this... Let me know!

@JamieH2000 I completely understand. I just recently realized that I had been putting life on hold for over 2 years, going through the motions of living but really eating, sleeping, thinking about our goal and how to improve our chances.  I wanted to start living life again rather than focusing so much on having a child. It's been hard since I'm trying to get ready for a new protocol in September. I tell DH that I'm getting sucked back into this.

So, I'm waiting for September, waiting to be sucked back into the all consuming mindset that is infertility.

  • Kp214- i totally get it. I really hope this new protocol is the key to your BFP! Since it's not until sept, hopefully you can do everything you can to enjoy the rest of the summer. I find it much more easy to find joy and be distracted from this all in the summer when there is so much sunshine and activities going on :0)

  • I just got my biopsy results from my polyp removal and it was pre cancerous so they have me on a drug for cacer, and I'm on it for at least the next 3 months so we are waiting to see it the polyps return and if they do if they grow to the c word before we can move forward with anything.

FET #3 9/11/18 Uterine scratch and antihistamine protocol/lovenox done this time. 2 AA hatching blasts put in.  BFP 9/20/18!!

  • Waiting for an appointment at our new clinic. We're moving across the country for work so we have to switch clinics.
  • @sleepyrn - i don't get that either, but i've seen others say the same thing? Did anyone say why you couldn't just start again with the beginning of your next cycle?

@JamieH2000 - all the freaking time! lol. when we first started the ivf journey, we (dh, me, and my doctor) had planned on a may/june cycle/transfer. i knew there would always be delays so we purposefully didn't plan anything for this summer, and started making plans for this fall. silly me. now, these plans might be getting cancelled if they end up interfering with the cycles! it'll be sad, but, oh well...
  • @caseyw8784 They didn't say.  I don't know if its because they only take so many cases each cycle or bc RE had a vacation planned.  But I was/am disappointed that I have to wait so long.  My birthday will be during my 2ww.  Talk about torture.

  • I'm waiting for our self-imposed break to end at the end of the summer. (But I'm still enjoying the summer and the lack of doctors appointments!) Then I'll be inducing a new cycle, and waiting for THAT to start.... Such a love/hate relationship w/ AF!

  • Waiting for a frozen transfer in Sept. My last transfer ended in a devastating chemical pregnancy, so I'm actually quite happy to take a little break from the infertility circus
  • YES.  Waiting.  Right now, waiting to hear when I can get an appointment for my sister to have an US to make sure her ovaries are in a place they can access for an ER (she is donating eggs.  Good AMH, but had a hysterectomy and sometimes the ovaries head north after that).

Hopefully in the next few weeks.  It is tricky because we have to fly her up here (just from OR to Seattle).

The big wait I am already irritated with is the PGD, which we won't get started until we have actual embryos to test.  My sister has a different BRCA mutation than I do (we won the genetic lottery, apparently), so we will build a genetic probe to screen for that and try not to pass it on.  It takes forever, and I know we will have issues getting swabs from everyone we need swabs from (need them from my 2 sisters, myself, my husband, and probably my dad and one of his sisters).

My dad is.....difficult in many ways and I don't know if he'll agree to send in swabs.  Plus, even if he *does* agree to that, he will also need to agree to actually be BRCA tested.  He has her same mutation (his sister has the exact same one--no way for my sister to have it if he didn't pass it on).  My dad wouldn't come out and refuse to help, but he never sent in the swab we needed when we were BRCA testing MY embryos earlier this year.  Drama is coming.
Me: Age 40  Husband: Age 41
Chemo killed my ovaries (along with a BRCA1 mutation, which causes DOR)
4/30/13 ER just prior to chemo: 8 embryos frozen at 2pn. 2 survived to blasts/1 PGS normal

    4/16 ER cancelled on CD7: 1 follicle on L/ 0 follicles on R
    FET #1  7/13/16  BFN

    Super shocker +HPT 9/19
    Baby Alyce arrived 5/8/17

Went forward with donor eggs from my sister for baby #2
ER 4/24, 5 eggs fertilized/1 survived to blast and was chromosomally normal.

    FET 2/15 (my sister/donor's birthday!).  Beta 10dp5dt:172; beta 12dp5dt: 425

  • @PNW12RN - i feel like i could've written your post about the frustrations of PGD testing! i've been waiting almost 6 months to get all my family members to get their sh** in line and not only to get tested, but to get their results sent to the lab my RE is using...grrr. i definitely feel you!
  • I'm waiting for my hysteroscopy in September to start a fresh IVF cycle in October! I don't think the waiting game ever gets any easier!
