1st Trimester

Face Wash and Moisturizer

Does anyone have a recommendation on skincare?  A friend of mind who is pregnant with her 3rd states that she used Neosporin (?) on her breakouts.  I want to make sure that I do not use anything that is too chemical.

Thank you for the ideas!  Happy 9 months to everyone!

Re: Face Wash and Moisturizer

  • earth science is what i use.  it's paraben-free and no animal testing.  the moisturizer works well on me (combination skin), plus it has no fragrance.

  • I use Aveeno clear skin foaming face wash. It contains sal. acid but my OB said it was fine. For moisturizer I use clnique moisture mask (I think thats what its called).

  • Cetaphil is a great brand for both, and I have also liked Oil of Olay total effects moisturizer.  My favorite though are the products by Mario Badescu, which you can order online.  The type you choose is dependent on your skin type - I have sensitive skin so I use a seaweed moisturizer.
  • I use OLAY gentle foaming face wash with aloe (for sensitive skin) followed by OLAY complete moisture lotion (spf 15). I find that I just add a few face washes a day and that has helped curb the acne. Also, my sister swears by neutragena (not sure what its called but its in a blue tube)
  • I second Mario Badescu, you can get it at Nordstroms, or online. Great products. During the 1st trimester my skin is always bad - I feel like you could read brail on my forhead, but thankfully that goes away for me in the 2nd trimester only to be replaced by tha horrible melasma dark spots in the 3rd trimester  :)

  • I use Aubrey Vegecol facial cleanser (paraben free, no harmful chemicals etc) It's great because it is not soap, so non drying.

Juice beauty tinted face moisturizer with SPF 30 (also paraben free, no chemicals etc, not very greasy at all).

  • I use Purpose.  It's cheap and "as gentle as water" supposedly.  As for the breakouts, I kinda dealt with them in 1st tri and they have gotten better.  I had a facial and the aesthetician said to use a facial scrub twice a week which seems to help.
  • Burt's Bee's all the way.  It's all natural, it smells amazing, and it works!  I've got the Chamomille (sp?) and Soap Bark cleanser and then the day radiance cream made with Royal Jelly.  Smells and feels amazing.

  • I love Purpose as well! It's really inexpensive and also has a great facial lotion.

I also use this. I use a moisturizer and toner from them and will likely try a cleanser once I finish my conventional (but I LOVE it) DDF sensitive skin cleansing gel, which is the only thing I've found that actually takes off my make up and cleans my face.

  • Thank you ladies!  I will have to go try some of these out!  I have such horribl break-outs, but I want to make sure I am using something good for the little one!!!

This is what I use, too.  I use Cetaphil face wash, Oil of Olay Total Effects lotion and Mario Badescu products like their Drying Cream and Healing Cream to control the jawline bumpy acne and reduce redness.
