Two Ectopics in 6 Months

Well just like the title says, I've gone through 2 ectopic pregnancies in 6 months. I had surgery to remove the first pregnancy on September 16th, 2015 resulting also in the loss of my left fallopian tube. The surgery to remove the second was on March 15th, 2016, almost exactly 6 months to the day after. These are the only 2 times I have been pregnant. Since then, I have done the HSG test where they inject dye into your tubes (or tube, in my case) to see if there is a blockage or cause for the ectopic pregnancies. The test showed no reason why they keep getting stuck. In my brain I know this is good news, but I don't feel hopeful like I thought I would. I'm so scared to try again and to have this happen a third time. My doctor said there is no reason she can see as to why I can't have a normal pregnancy, I'm just jaded by the last two I guess.

Has anyone else gone through anything similar? Just looking for a small ray of hope.

Wow, first of all I am so sorry for your losses.

I had an ectopic pregnancy this past January and my right tube ruptured and had to be removed. I have not gotten pregnant again since then so I cannot relate there, but your story is my biggest worry as DH and I try to get pregnant again.

I totally understand feeling jaded about the whole process and I hope that you are able to find some clarity about plans for the future.

I don't have any experience with your situation but just wanted to say I'm very sorry this happened to you. I understand you being scared of having the same happen again, I delivered prematurely at almost 22 weeks and my son didn't make it and the next pregnancy my water broke and delivered my other son at 17 weeks; I am absolutely terrified of being pregnant again but I'm not giving up. Holding a baby in my arms is my biggest desire and I will keep trying no matter how long it takes. Just trust that next time things will work out. Hugs.

I'm so sorry you are dealing with this. I had 2 in a row in 2014, had my 2nd daughter in January this year, and now it appears I am dealing with ectopic #3.

    1st ectopic treated with MTX
    2nd ectopic blew left tube

Here's your ray of hope- After the 2nd one blew my tube, I was told that my remaining tube was obstructed by scar tissue from the surgery and we would NEVER be able to conceive without IVF (which we tried 3x and was not successful) we decided to give up trying after they told us it would not happen, and I got pregnant with the baby 6 months later.

So that brings me to now- pregnant again with what is looking to be another ectopic (betas are indicative of ectopic) waiting to see how the Drs will proceed over the next couple days.

Furthermore, my sister had 6 molar pregnancies in a row, and then gave birth to healthy B/G twins. I know it's hard. So hard. But if the seed is in your heart that you will be a Mom, then you will be. I wish it was easy for everyone, but some of us have to go through so much rain to see a rainbow.

@potatocastillo  Thanks for sharing your story. I have had a lot of worrying since my ectopic about my ability to get pregnant again with only one tube and also the fear of having another ectopic and screwing up the only tube I have left. I'm so sorry you are possibly dealing with #3. I hope you don't have to have surgery again because, as we both know, that surgery is no fun. I was lucky my MIL came and stayed with us for a few weeks so I could take it easy.

Thank you so much @potatocastillo It's so hard to stay positive and to make myself believe it's ever going to happen. Your story is such an inspiration to keep trying and to keep my head up. Thank you so much for sharing it with me.

I hope you receive some good news at the doctor. If not, I hope you are able to heal quickly both mentally and physically.

Hi there. I had an ectopic in November 2010, 3 months after we were married. I didn't even know I was pregnant until the doctors rushed me in to a room at the hospital because I was severely sick. They told me I was lucky to be alive. Turns out my right tube ruptured and I needed emergency surgery immediately. With my head spinning, trying to grasp everyting they rushed me in and I had surgery. I was in so much pain that they couldn't even exam me vaginally, so they did an ultrasound and thought that it probably was so they needed to do exploratory laprascopy. Long story short, I lost my fallopian tube, and was unsuccessful at getting pregnant. In 2014, I finally got a referral to the fertility specialist, and went through test after test. Ended up also having the procedure done where they inject dye into your cervix to see if your tube is blocked. It wasn't, but there was no explaination to the lack of conceiving. Everything I read, and was told by multiple doctors said that the chances of conceiving don't go down by much. Started fertility meds a few months later, and was on them for about a year. At my last doctor appointment, he said that if nothing happened in the last few months I was on the meds, we should seriously start thinking about IVF. I also have a low egg reserve apparently, so that makes things a little more difficult. Well, IVF is expensive as hell and I didn't want to give up. Bring up to 2016, still no pregnancy and going further and further into thoughts where I just wanted to give up. I took some time off of my meds as they wreck havoc on my body and I get sick.... Haven't been on them for over 4 months, and 2 weeks ago I got a BFP. I thought my missed period was just my body changing its cycle again due to another female living in the house full time again, as it changed when I worked daycare with my SIL. Took 2 tests and they were positive. Went to see my fertility doctor for a confirmation ultrasound earlier this week, as he as well as us were concerned about another ectopic, but babe is growing right where it should be. I know this response has been really long, but I just wanted to share a bit of our story with you. Now I am hoping for lots of sticky sticky baby dust. My hubby has a 21 year old daughter, who made us Grandparents 4 years ago, but now I think it is my turn.
