left side abdominal pain?

Preface: I have called a nurse line and am waiting on a call back from the doctor, but sounds like it might not be anything major but not only do I have anxiety, I am, after all, pregnant and maybe overreatcting?

That being said, since late Saturday night I've had some muscle pain on my left side. Kind of cramping, but nothing that is overwhelming. Just more uncomfortable than anything else. I have a lot of scarring from surgeries/accidents and I'm concerned about adhesions, but really at this point I'm concerned about anything. Has anyone else experienced this yet?

Re: left side abdominal pain?

  • Does Tylenol, resting and drinking water help at all?

  • Drinking water and resting/lying down seems to help. Sitting up normally doesn't feel the greatest. I also noticed that after I ate yesterday, it did seem to feel a little better as well.

  • Maybe round ligament/stretching pains?  I still get so confused about all the aches and pains, and this is my 3rd pregnancy!
  • @lindsladle15 I was reading and thought thats what it might be too! It's my first pregnancy and anything that happens I worry :(

  • I think if drinking water and resting helps it's probably nothing to worry about :) we need so much more fluids when we are pregnant and dehydration causes a lot of uncomfortable symptoms. Have you heard back from your OB?

  • I had some left side uncomfortable pains, too, the other day!!! It went away after a few hours and everything has been good. I remember people saying that throughout pregnancy we will have random cramping as our bodies are adjusting. I noticed when I laid down and felt around my abdomen, the left side was more firm than the middle or right side. I think since I've been constipated, it could have been a BM coming through and making the uterus shift somewhat? Not sure, but our bodies know what they're doing. Now that it's been a few days I haven't felt anything since, and actually I'm getting less constipated as the days go on, so that's good news. What I was thinking when I was having my cramps is that my uterus was still tilted toward the back (I think that's anterior?) and would be moving to be center soon. At my 8wk apt the doctor said that it should be shifting as baby grew, so maybe my cramps was also because of the shifting of my uterus to be better positioned. That made me less anxious since I knew it needed to happen. Maybe something to consider?

  • No word back from OB yet, might try calling again in a little bit. I'm hoping it is just normal because I literally have no other symptoms other than this pain!

  • I don't have any experience with this in particular but I would say if you're waiting a long time for the OB to call back it would ease my mind some. Typically if something is a big huge deal they call back right away
  • I have this right now on my right side.  Yesterday it was pain in my back on the right side.  Agree to drink water and try to rest.  I've notice I get more aches and pains when I try to do too much throughout the day or am on my feet a lot.  Hope it goes away and you hear back from the OB soon!

  • It sounds a lot like round ligament pain. It freaked me out during my first pregnancy. This time around I have it again. It almost feels like the pain you get in your side from running (when you're out of shape like me lol), except down on the lower left or right side of my abdomen. Hope you feel better soon.
