Anyone who asks how I'm feeling gets told that baby has flipped and how overjoyed I am. I think that's more than most people want to know about what's going on inside of me.
@PSUBecky23 Baby turned head down at 28 weeks and whenever anyone asked how I was feeling I'd say, "Great! Baby's head down!" and I'd point to my vagina...I trained myself to stop doing that after creeping out a couple people.

Ok this might get me some flames... My mom was originally going to throw me a baby shower, and she still wants to, but after her brain surgery in May she asked if one of my friends would take over or help her out. I honestly didn't know how to broach this subject, because I've always been of the opinion that you shouldn't ask someone to throw you a bridal shower/bachelorette/baby shower etc. Problem solved itself when one of my best friends offered, and said she would team up with my mom to help plan. Last night my friend asked me for a guest list, because we work at different hospitals (we're both nurses), she figured I would have some work friend I'd want to invite, which I do. So I sent her a list, and then also sent my mom a copy so she would be on the same page. My mom texted me and was like "so much for a surprise..."... Ok? She asked me what I wanted to do for the party and I said something simple, just a bbq, and few games, whatever. But I specifically said I did not want a surprise party. I have never liked surprise parties, mainly because the few times people have tried to throw them for me, someone spills the beans and takes all the fun out of it. For my bridal shower, that was my grandmother, my bachelorette my sister in law told me beforehand. Not to mention I work on a casual basis, often I don't know when I'm working until 24 hours or less before the shift, so I didn't want them to plan something and then me not be able to attend because I picked up a shift. Also, the people my mother had planned on inviting are people I wouldn't necessarily invite; relatives I never see or care to talk to for good reasons, childhood friends I haven't spoken to in years, and their mothers (like, what?). I feel like it's a party for me and DH to celebrate the baby, why aren't we allowed to put forward the guest list? My best friend gets this, but my mom feels like since she's helping to throw the party, she gets to say who comes; also her reasoning was "You should still invite xyz, they always give expensive presents"... not why we're having the party Mom. I disagree. So we're kind of at a stand still right now.
My boobs and vajay are currently having a sweating competition. Should probably post this in TMI Tuesday but it's a bajillion freaking degrees out today
@yellowrose314 - no flaming from me. It's honestly really difficult to balance guest lists with who you want to invite and who others want to invite - especially when the other is co-hosting and a parent. DH's sister invited a bunch of relatives I didn't know to the one she is throwing and never even consulted me on a guest list, but in my case, I figure it's her family and I'm having multiple showers so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. I'm just hopeful that I know everyone when I show up, otherwise it's going to be really awkward to be like "thanks ... Sue? Sue? Who's Sue? My sister also just invited a bunch of people and never asked about who to invite, but she said she was limiting it to our family and I doubt we have different ideas of who our family members are.
My confession is pretty tame. I used to think the abbreviations (DH, SIL, MIL) were so stupid and I thought I'd never use them. Now I get annoyed when I'm texting someone and have to write out "sister in law". Also many of them I never knew what they were and just tried to figure out of my own. Like ETA = edited to add?
@yellowrose314 don't think you'll get flamed at all. I agree with you on it being your shower and having the people you want there. Even if it were a surprise, they should think about or ask your DH who you would like to have there. I provided the guest list for my shower, they asked me what kind of games I wanted, the food, the time, the theme, even the flavor for the cake! I even told DH, half these things I didn't even care about but they did it because the party was for us.
@PoodleDoodleOoo If I was having multiple showers, maybe I wouldn't care as much. But DH and I both agreed that just one would be fine; most of our family lives close, and there were only a few people from work we each wanted to invite. The list is still under 20 people. My issue is I don't want to invite people because they're going to give me great presents, I want to invite people who I know are going to be active in my child's life and want to celebrate her coming into the world. That doesn't include people I was friends with in grade school and are now courtesy FB friends, or relatives who I never talk to because they're dicks.
@RG1 - I don't mind a lot of the abbreviations we use here, but some for TTGP drove me nuts. Like BD for "baby dancing." C'mon, we're grown ladies trying to make babies. Just say "sex," which is only three letters and needs no abbreviation. It's like if you can't say the word sex on an anonymous internet forum, maybe you need to rethink your maturity level and whether or not you should be having a baby. Just sayin.
And also, I cant stand it when people call diapers "sposies" when referring to disposable diapers. We are not 3. Do not talk like a 3 year old. Just don't. Not everything baby-related has to be cute.
@yellowrose314 - And I think that's a great reason to exclude some people and invite others, to be honest! Who you want there should absolutely be taken into consideration, and if I was only having one shower, I'd be pretty adamant about only inviting certain folks as well. I'm sorry your mom isn't on board with your guest list!
So this is a lame confession...but as I am getting more and more uncomfortable trying to sleep in bed at night, I've considered sleeping in the living room recliner instead. But I haven't. Because I'm too scared. To sleep downstairs in my living room alone. I'm such a whimp!
@RG1 I hate some of them too, like DH and DD, but I use them because it's so much easier! I don't like the darling part though. Just sounds stupid. That what jt means, right?? Lol
So this is a lame confession...but as I am getting more and more uncomfortable trying to sleep in bed at night, I've considered sleeping in the living room recliner instead. But I haven't. Because I'm too scared. To sleep downstairs in my living room alone. I'm such a whimp!
My recliner is about 12 fr from my bedroom door and I'm still scared about sleeping there at night! It's so much comfortable but I confess I'm a whimp. We live in a single story house and I feel like I'd be "exposed" and alone lol
Confession since you guys admitted your fear of sleeping somewhere that's not your bedroom: I watched the Leperchaun when I was too young to watch a "scary" movie and seriously was scared to go to sleep for about 8 years. I also watched Chucky and It, and tons of movies that make me wonder why in the heck my parents let me watch them. I was terrified of my dolls at night because of Chucky and I was so scared one of them would move, or even worse, be on my bed that I would close my eyes, and then pop one eye open, look around, close them again and repeat. It was awful so now I'm overly worried about my girls watching or overseeing things they shouldn't on tv.
@RG1 I also hate some of them (DH, DS, DD, etc.) and swore I'd never use them, but it's more convenient. I actually prefer H to DH (because I don't like the darling/dear part), but it just looks...odd to me, so I don't use it.
@MrsVoorhees I, too, am overly diligent about making sure DD isn't watching anything scary. I was an anxious kid and just watching the news with my Dad each night scared me. When it was time for bed, I'd worry that we'd be robbed, I'd be kidnapped, killed, any sort of the sad craziness that is all over the news each day. A scary movie? Forget it, I'd have recurring nightmares for ages! So now I'm extra careful with DD. DH and I were watching GOT once during her nap and she woke up - we tried finishing the episode but there was a scene with the Nightwalkers and I was like, "nope, nope, nope, we are turning this off" even though she was barely paying attention. I'm even nervous about how she's going to feel about scary Disney characters like Ursula!
ETA: Just re-read what I wrote and if being afraid to sleep in my own living room isn't enough proof that I'm a total whimp, this definitely is!! Lol
@JennM205 I was really anxious too! The news scared me, Rescue 911 scared me, everything. I was so afraid our house would be broken into and my bedroom was the first one on the hall. My mom told me our windows were bullet proof haha
@MrsVoorhees@JennM205 it's a trend then because I was the same way. I still deal with anxiety and I'll do all I can to make sure this little girl doesn't go through that. You guys are doing it right, though. Kids are so impressionable and pick up on things we don't even think they would know.
My confession is about the attention I love getting from my LO. Last night he was being extra whiney and clingy bc he skipped a nap. We went to my sisters house for our boys to play together and they played so hard he passed out in the car but then woke up when we got home, hence the extreme fussiness. DH had just gotten home from work so when we walked in and he saw the state LO was in he tried to step in and put him to bed. But LO just wouldn't have it and was screaming and crying mama! mama! and bust out of his room twice and ran to me. So I cuddled with him until he fell asleep. The confession is I know once LO2 gets here a lot of my attention is going to be with the baby and DH is going to be doing a lot more of the everyday routine things I do with LO1 now and I know I am going to feel jealous and sad. But last night he needed me and only wanted me and it felt pretty darn sweet
My confession is that I'm not sure if my insomnia is related to pregnancy or the fact that I can't stop listening to true crime/mystery podcasts.
eta: just reading through and realizing my confession this week is going along with a common theme. Glad im not the only one, not glad that we have these anxieties.
My confession is that I was too lazy to pick up the items I dropped on the bathroom floor this morning (hair elastic and an earring) while getting ready for work. They were non-essential to my morning and can be picked up later.
Also to the above about being scared: the movie Gremlins scared the crap out of me when I was a kid and the just the music to Unsolved Mysteries gave me chills.
@mrsvoorhees@jennm205@alwaysauntnevermom - I think it's about knowing your child and being aware of their reactions. When I was a kid watched the news every night with my dad. I have specific memories of watching news events that happened when I was 4 or 5. It gave me a real interest in the news. I read newspapers for as long as I could read and still love the news. Watching with my dad let me ask questions and I didn't worry much or have nightmares. My younger sister was the exact opposite. She worried incessantly and had nightmares so my mom would do things with her in another room while my dad and I watched the news. What worked for me, didn't for my sister.
My FFFC is that I said I would make a nice dinner tonight but I was hanging out with my best friend and didn't get home in time to make sure the chicken defrosted so now DH and I are eating salad for dinner. At least it's healthy right?

My confession is that I suck at being pregnant. Granted, I'm very, very grateful for this little one, especially since we've been trying for several years. I realize what a blessing and a miracle it is. But I don't like feeling like crap all the time... Body aches, vomiting, migraines, colds, gestational diabetes, utter exhaustion but can't sleep... I could go on and on. I'm so over it. I'm really really ready to get this kid out of me, and I've already told DH that we're not having any more.
I am so glad I'm not the only scaredy cat on the board. I vowed to stop watching scary movies after I watched one when I was 19, and couldn't sleep with the light off for months. 19 YEARS OLD. Yes you read that right. I realized I was just too sensitive to horror films. My life is much better without that to feed my over active imagination.
I still get creeped out when DH is out of town and I am home alone at night with DD, but I have even managed to get over that fear for the most part. I used to call my sister and ask her to stay over if he was gone, but I've stopped doing that and excessively checking the baby monitor.
Every time my mother in law sees me, she harasses me about whether the baby is moving. "Is he moving? Moving yet? Be sure to tell me when he's moving!" One time she even hollered at my stomach trying to get him to move.
My confession is that sometimes I tell her he's not moving when he really is. I know it's awful, but I don't like people touching me. Stop stalking me and trying to molest my stomach. You'll get to feel him move plenty after he's born. Calm the fuck down.

@MrsVoorhees I also watched chuckie at way too young an age, but acted like I could handle it. Every night I would tuck in all of my dolls and tell them how much I loved them for fear that one would come alive and try to murder me.
Also, semi afraid of being alone in my house at night. Our basement is semi finished, not scary at all but I always fear someone is hiding down there, so I run down with my phone in hand, grab laundry and sprint back upstairs. Every. Single. Time.
@ducks6 Yeah, so part of my anxiety when I was a kid was the fear that if I told someone my fears, the dolls would get pissed and definitely kill me. So my mom had no idea that I was scared every night until I told her a few years ago.
@AnnaS930 I was the same way! I was so, so nice to my dolls during the day!!! My family was really close to my best friends family growing up, and her grandma used to make the bodies and clothes for porcelain dolls....so guess who got a new murder baby every year for Christmas! But my mom would see me playing with them/ensuring their needs were catered to so I didn't get killed during the day so she thought I just looooooved porcelain dolls so she told my aunt, who then bought me a new murder baby every birthday! So two new murder babies a year!! It was like a dream come true. A terrible, terrible nightmare dream come true.
@AnnaS930@MrsVoorhees I too watched Chuckie way way way too young and was scared to even get out of bed in fear he was under it! I had an irrational/rational fear of dolls bigger than Barbie after that. I then became obsessed with Hello Kitty which is much more expensive than dolls and it was all thanks to my parents not stopping me while watching Chuckie. Parenting fail on my parents!
@MrsVoorhees dolls still creep me out so I've told everyone in the family no dolls for this new little one. Everyone keeps arguing that little girls need dolls. I said barbies are ok but everything else is too creepy, I can't have them in my house.
@mrsvoorhees - For some reason I think there's a huge difference between the news and a movie/tv show like Chuckie. I've never seen it because my parents didn't think that type of thing was appropriate for children and as an adult the premise freaks me out so I don't want to see it. It would definitely give me nightmares. Movies have so much more scope for the imagination and that's not always a good thing. Also, I think every parent has to make the best decision for their children and if you don't want your kid watching the news, I totally respect that.

I was SO scared of my dolls. My aunt bought me huge ones every birthday/Christmas. Every night I would turn them around so they couldn't watch me sleep.
Once my brother thought it would be funny to sneak in my room and flip one of them back. I was so scared I took all my dolls and hid them in my mom's closet. and that's where they still are lol I hate them
