Moms of Multiples 7/11

Good morning, ladies! Seems like it has been a bit of a rough week for several of us, especially @sjo_thetwins (welcome home!). Here's hoping this week is more comfortable and brings good appointments!

1. How far along and what are you carrying?

2. Upcoming appointments/milestones

3. Rants/Raves/Positives

4. Question of the week: What pregnancy "no-no" are you most looking forward to enjoying after these babies arrive?

Re: Moms of Multiples 7/11

  • 1. How far along are you and what are you carrying?
    25+2 di/di girls

    2. Upcoming appointments/milestones
Hmm. We have an appointment on Thursday for an ultrasound and checkup with the MFM to see how I'm progressing. Maybe we will see the girls then too and measure them. I'd say a milestone that I'm trying to make is 29 weeks. When we met with the NICU Doctor, he said there were 3 brackets of babies - 25+, 29+, and 36+. We are over the 25 hurdle, and 29 weekers have less to undergo if they are born around then, so 4 more weeks of cooking is my goal. And then smaller goals after that!

    3. Rants/Raves/Positives
while I am so happy to be home, I am so sad that I can't continue my nesting or the end of this (first and only) pregnancy the way I had hoped. I want to be involved installing car seats, I want to help organize the closet and nursey once our shower is over. I want to be able to actually walk up the stairs TO the nursery, but I suppose it's all for the best.

    4. Question of the week: What pregnancy "no-no" are you most looking forward to enjoying after these babies arrive?
before, it was all the wine! Now, it's just being a normal person that isn't dependent on someone else.

  • So glad you are home @sjo_thetwins

    1. How far along and what are you carrying?
    27 w, 1 d; boy/girl twins

    2. Upcoming appointments/milestones

This Thursday is our second growth scan, cervix measurement, and fluid check.  I feel like there's been a bit of a change again this week with their positions and I just hope it hasn't affected my cervix.

Next Sunday starts my 3rd tri!!!  Then I'm setting a goal of 32, and then 36 weeks.

I also have maternity pictures scheduled for this Sunday at the beach.  I know it's a bit early, but the next available dates were in late August and I didn't want to completely miss out on pics if they come really early.  Now, I just have to have my dress hemmed and picked up from the seamstress before then, find hubby something to wear, and DS something to wear.  I love my dress, but of course my mom has critiqued it, saying it wasn't appropriate.  It's a bohemian mocha colored maxi dress from PinkBlush.  She thinks I should wear something more "classic."  I just told her that's not my style.  I'm gonna let the boys wear khaki shorts and white button up shirts with the sleeves rolled up.

I feel like I need to start packing a hospital bag.  I'm definitely going to pack lighter this time around.  Just a few nursing gowns, nursing bras, and a robe for me for when I finally get out of the hospital gown.  Coming home outfits for the twins, probably 2 sizes Premie & Newborn.  My camera, phone, laptop, nook, and all related chargers.  A few toiletries and minimal makeup.

Last time I took magazines and never looked at them.  I did have the tv on in the room for a bit, but for more of a distraction than anything else.

    3. Rants/Raves/Positives

I have nothing done to the nursery.  Our furniture is still sitting all boxed up on our sunporch.  I'm not too worried though, I have their infant seats, a stroller, and a pack'n'play in the closet.  So they have somewhere to ride and sleep.  I also have a few clothes.  I have NO energy to work on anything.  My hubby has certainly stepped up to help with DS getting to and from daycare, laundry, and dishes.

    4. Question of the week: What pregnancy "no-no" are you most looking forward to enjoying after these babies arrive?

Alcohol (any and all kinds), all the French fries in the world (I have gestational diabetes), and unlimited Coke!  Maybe I won't go too crazy with that.  :)

  • 1. How far along and what are you carrying?
    27+3; twin boys.

    2. Upcoming appointments/milestones
My next appointment isn't until the 28th, but my OB has a 32 week goal set for us.

    3. Rants/Raves/Positives
Rave: babies are healthy and I can somewhat function.

Rant: I'm starting to get to the point where simply walking around increases contractions. They are just BH so more of an annoyance than a hinderance, but they make me so tired I feel like I can't do anything.

    4. Question of the week: What pregnancy "no-no" are you most looking forward to enjoying after these babies arrive?
Adderall. I just want my Adderall prescription back, I'm a much more successful and organized person medicated.

  • 1. How far along and what are you carrying?
    I'm 25 weeks with boy/girl twins

    2. Upcoming appointments/milestones
I have the GD test coming up next week I hope that goes good

    3. Rants/Raves/Positives
Rant. These damn Charley horses are killing me. I have tried everything... omg leg pain you suck.

    4. Question of the week: What pregnancy "no-no" are you most looking forward to enjoying after these babies arrive?

I'm looking forward to lunch meat. I just want a ham and cheddar sandwich. And alcohol of course.

  • @nlane0723 mine were BH too, that were increasing in frequency but not pattern, so I want worried. Turns out they think that is what changed my cervix, so keep an eye on them. I hope they ease up for you!

  • 1. How far along and what are you carrying?
26 weeks exactly, mo/di twin girls

    2. Upcoming appointments/milestones
we have our hospital tour tonight and I go back to the MFM doc Thursday for another growth scan/ cervix check

    3. Rants/Raves/Positives
rant: not being able to sleep is getting old
fast. I can't fall asleep at night so I'm exhausted during the day and taking a nap is no problem which only makes the falling asleep at night problem worse.

rave: We finally got the nursery cleared out and painted! Now to order all the furniture. :)

    4. Question of the week: What pregnancy "no-no" are you most looking forward to enjoying after these babies arrive?

Coffee and soda! I'm ready to have my morning coffees and sodas back.

  • @sjo_thetwins  Welcome home!! I think small goals is definitely the way to go at this point - so cheers to 29 weeks!

@JessK1014  Have fun with the pics at the beach!  I say- you do you.  It will be so fun for you ds & the twins to look back at those pictures to see the fabulous version of you that you are today :).  Also thanks for the tips on the hospital bag!! I'm an over packer so I'm going to try to pack lighter ;).

  • 1. How far along?
    27+6, di-di boys

    2. Milestones/appointments:
Tomorrow is 3rd tri and a good viability milestone! My current goal is 34 weeks (which my OB describes as the "pretty much home free" point), which is feeling pretty doable at the moment and sounds a lot more comfortable than 38.

Had a growth scan this morning, and the boys are looking perfect. Measuring exactly the same size and weight (2.9 lbs each), and still measuring a few days ahead of edd.

    3. Rants/Raves/Positives:
All this flipping around has reached a really uncomfortable point, but I am glad they are clearly healthy and active. I feel like I can't really keep up with DS anymore, which I feel guilty about, but I know taking it easy is so important at this point.

I have to say DH is completely amazing right now. He is doing so much to take care of me and let me relax as much as possible. So thankful to have an awesome partner to go through this with! Mushy raving over.

    4. What pregnancy "no-no" am I most looking forward to?
Honestly I'm most looking forward to not feeling like I have to be a lazy bum. I am not super restrictive in terms of coffee, foods, or a sip of beer/wine while pregnant, but being able to actually be active again will feel great.
  • @mkonrade Sorry about the leg pain! Restless leg gets me and is so annoying. Maybe ask your dr about magnesium? I've heard being low on that can cause leg issues while pregnant.

@JessK1014 beach pictures in a maxi dress sound totally dreamy and beautiful! Wearing something more "classic" seems like it would be uncomfortable and just not fit that setting as well. Being comfortable is the most important thing for great pictures, I think!

  • 1. How far along and what are you carrying? 28 weeks 2 days.  Boy/girl twins

    2. Upcoming appointments/milestones
Tomorrow we have a growth ultrasound with our MFM doc and Wednesday I have my OB visit where I'm going to get my tdap & my second glucose test.  Just hoping babies are growing and everything still looks good!

    3. Rants/Raves/Positives
Raves- I finished the nursery this weekend!  I have this weird feeling I could end up in bed rest (nothing the docs have said but just something in my gut-i hope I'm wrong!) so my goal was to get it done.

Rant- I have a short Torso and the discomfort of a growing belly and increased BH is starting to kick in.  I know it's a good thing but also not super comfortable!!

@mkonrade I also have had crazy charley horses in my calves when I wake up.  Besides trying to drink lots of water and eat bananas - I try to flex my feet before stretching my leg muscles when I wake up which has helped reduce the intensity a little bit.  Just a tip to try!

    4. Question of the week: What pregnancy "no-no" are you most looking forward to enjoying after these babies arrive?  Good red wine ;) & being able to be more active/not lose my breath when walking upstairs
  • 1. How far along and what are you carrying?
    26 + 5 di/di boy/girl twins

    2. Upcoming appointments/milestones

I have my GD test and OB visit next week.

    3. Rants/Raves/Positives

I cannot decided on a paint color for the nursery. I just picked up sample #6 on my lunch hour today. I want a soft mint green color and so far I have chosen 2 samples that are so light they look white, 2 samples that were way too "stark" and bright, and one sample that looked gray. UGH!

    4. Question of the week: What pregnancy "no-no" are you most looking forward to enjoying after these babies arrive?

Wine.... all the wine. And DH's homemade margaritas. OMG.

  • Do any of you have any recommendations for support belts?  I've purchased one from Motherhood that I do not like.  It's fine if I'm standing/walking, but it's too wide when sitting and doesn't fold into halves.  I'm pretty short, and Baby A (boy) is head down on my cervix, so there's not much room at all.
  • @jessk1014 I borrowed my support band from a co-worker so I don't know the brand. But I wanted to say mine is very wipe and I have a short torso so I have the same issues when sitting with it on. Any other recommendations people have I'll be interested in.

@GoBucksOH picking paint colors can get so frustrating! Not sure where you usually pick up samples, but Lowe's has them on sale for $0.99 right now just FYI. Hope you find one you love!

I bought a support belt from Buy Buy Baby, brand is "Loving Comfort" I believe. It has good belly and back support, and has an optional over-belly strap which is nice too. Plus it's pretty much the sexiest thing ever
  • I'm actually being sent for monitoring right now. Hopefully it's just because I did too much this weekend. @sjo_thetwins

  • 1. How far along and what are you carrying?
    25w4d with b/g twins

    2. Upcoming appointments/milestones
I have MFM appointments every Thursday now and OB every other Friday. This is a 2 appointment week so I'll be busy (hopefully getting good news). I filled out a survey for my MFM doc (that I thought was anonymous) and she actually brought it up at the last appt. Mortifying, but we really cleared the air. I've been frustrated with her because I felt like there was never a silver lining or a "well she could make it, we're gonna try our best." It was all worst case scenarios and "just be prepared." I hate confrontation like that, so the entire conversation had me in tears but I feel like we're in the same place now.

    3. Rants/Raves/Positives
Rant: How much is too much pee? Last night, between 10:30 and 12:30 I got up for the bathroom SIX times. Between that, the babies moving (very reassuring at least), the extreme discomfort and heatburn any time I'm not upright, I couldn't even fall asleep until after 7 this morning. DH works overnight and I was off today, so we were able to sleep once he got home.

Rave: My SIL let me borrow her pocket doppler which is another great tool for me to keep track of Daisy and make sure she's okay without having to go to the doctor to "just check in." Its not the easiest to use, but some patience goes a long way. It's difficult to do kick counts with such a disparity in size, all I can really tell is "movement" and it's most likely Peter. Daisy moves more slowly and deliberately so if I'm laying down it's noticable but vague. Peter however is almost violent in his movements, lol.

    4. Question of the week: What pregnancy "no-no" are you most looking forward to enjoying after these babies arrive?
I have never been much of a drinker, but mama wants tequila! It eveb sounds gross to me, but I want that smooth, buttery, tart margarita! Or a palomaaaaaaa! Omg.
  • 1) How far along?
    27w6d with didi twin boys

    2) Upcoming appointments/milestones
Third trimester officially starts tomorrow! We have our childbirth class on Saturday so that should be interesting. It's not multiples specific so I asked my OB today about what will not be relevant or will be different for us.

    3) Rants/raves/positives
I'm actually feeling pretty good, considering the OB told me I am measuring at 34 weeks! Yikes! I was just diagnosed with mild anemia and have started taking iron and I really think it has improved my energy levels already. I'm also getting Braxton hicks on occasion, but only on one side. My right side gets really hard and pointy - it's so weird. The OB says it's only concerning if I have more than 5 per hour.

    4) Question of the week - pregnancy no-no's
I'm looking forward to exercising and being active again. Also looking forward to multiple glasses of wine (pump and dump!) and being allowed to sleep on my back. :)
  • @nlane0723 I hope everything is okay and they are just being cautious! Keep us posted.

@sjo_thetwins I'm so glad you are home and I hope things go well at your appointments!

@lmno304 I'm glad you found a way to keep yourself reassured about Daisy. I've heard the home dopplers can really relieve a lot of stress.

  • I'm getting procardia, but I probably don't have to stay. They did a swab to see if my cervix has released protein? I guess it's an indicator of impending labor. @sjo_thetwins

  • @nlane0723 that's good about the procardia. Did they check your cervix?
  • Thanks, ladies! I was released. They gave me terbutaline and procardia, checked my cervix, did a fetal fibronectin test (negative), and monitored babies for a few hours. My cervix is closed and high. I follow up with my OB on Thursday.

    1. How far along and what are you carrying?

    26w1d - MoDi Girls

    2. Upcoming appointments/milestones

just weekly ultrasound with MFM tomorrow and we made it to the point of no surgery for TTTS, which is a good and bad thing

    3. Rants/Raves/Positives

More of a confession - I absolutely did not want to buy a minivan but last Thursday we bought one and I actually love it already!

    4. Question of the week: What pregnancy "no-no" are you most looking forward to enjoying after these babies arrive?

Lemon Shandy and to use my R&F Reverse to get rid of these wonderful dark spots and "pregnancy mask"

  • @nlane0723 so glad you are okay! And that those babies aren't trying to make an early appearance!!
  • @nlane0723 so glad everything is okay and you are back home! Take it easy!

@cnb4hf glad you are at least loving your new car, even if it wasn't your top choice!
  •  @nlane0723 Glad to hear you are all home!!
  • @nlane0723
Glad it turned out well for you.

  • So,  I had my second growth scan today.  Both babies are looking good.   I found out that my MFM  doesn't check cervix measurements after 26 weeks.   I'm not having any related issues though so I guess that's OK for now.   They did mention Baby A, our boy,  has a bit too much fluid.   Anyone else dealing with that?
  • I had my MFM appointment today. They told me they stop checking cervix at 28 week appointment (they only check after if they think there is a problem) and i start going 2 times a week at 32 weeks. @jessk1014 so far the fluid has stayed the same for both but that's why they keep monitoring so closer to check for changes.

  •  @lmno304 I think of you and Daisy often.  She is definitely a fighter- "she may be small but she is mighty"
  • @lmno304 you and Daisy stay in my thoughts as well. I hope she continues to surprise the doctors.
  • @lmno304 You've definitely got this board rooting for you and Daisy.  I'll keep you in my thoughts.
  • Thanks, y'all are so sweet and kind! I saw my OB today and got put on bed rest. It's not supposed to help her grow at all, at least there's no proof it will help. Mostly she just said she'd feel better if I wasn't working, that she's not confident I'd tell her if it got to be too much. She said I'm too laid back and tend to sugarcoat things lol.
  • @lmno304 glad you were able to get some good looks at Daisy and get some refreshed hope! We are rooting for you!
