Registering for subsequent pregnancies,...

So I asked this in the 2nd time mom thread but some people don't use that,... What are you registering for for your baby if you already have kids. We plan do use most of DD stuff but I know we'll need to rebuy some,... I'd like to register so we can get the discount for registries,.... But I'd also like to plan for any expenses,.... I know this probably sounds dumb haha! I just really want to start getting prepared even though I'm only 12 weeks!

I just replied to you over on STM but I'll comment here too for discussion sake.
DD will be 18 months when this baby comes so she is still using her car seat and crib.
So on our registry for now we have
    -a new crib + mattress + bedding
    -dresser
    -pacifiers
    -breast pump accessories
-a second pack n play because we travel a lot

I'm still trying to decide on a second diaper genie or a double stroller. We'll need boy clothes and blankets if this baby is a boy and maybe girl clothes too for a girl since DD was a July baby so seasonal stuff might have to be bought.
Our high chair, bouncer, swing, play mat, etc are all still in good shape and are gender neutral so we won't/shouldn't need new ones of those.

ETA: I don't think it's dumb to start thinking about this at 12 weeks or building a registry so you can take advantage of discounts and coupons as they come in. I'm a huge planner and if I waited until after a shower or until I was further along my nesting would have been out of control neurotic.

  • #5 here, don't think we'll be doing a registry this time. With our others we registered for smaller items and mainly reused what we had, but our kids were further apart so we could do that. We also have a large family with like 15 kids under 11 so we all share items as needed, my bouncer seat is at my cousins and her little girl is about to grow out of it and it'll come back to me for this baby then onto another cousin later if someone has another lol.

  • I started putting together a registry around 12 weeks, so not dumb to me.  DS will be 2.5 when the twins come.  We will be reusing a lot of his stuff, replacing items that can't be reused, and purchasing additional necessary items.  I registered for new pump parts, additional sleep sacks, bottles, replacement bottle nipples, wubbanubs, sheets, cloth diapers, double stroller, one infant car seat, pack n play, and tandem structured carrier.

  • I'm registering simply for the swag bags.
We will be needing a double stroller and a second monitor. I'm also considering a swing. Simple things like pacifiers, new pump parts...
  • This actually got me thinking I had never used the rewards points I had accumulated off DD registry. So I just checked them and I let $156 of rewards points expire. So mad at myself!
  • My son will be almost 3 when this one is born, so we have the bigger items we're passing from one to the other. We'll obviously need clothes if it's a girl, but I put these items on our registry.
    -extra bottles
-replacement nipples & pieces (Dr. Brown bottles)
-new blankets (son still uses his)
    -convertible car seat
    -bibs
    -Sit stand stroller

It's a shopping list for us but I know that family and close friends may want to shop from it so I figure it'll help them to know what we need/want.

I started my registry with my so. when I was 12 weeks pregnant. I hadn't told people I was pregnant yet, but it was good to get started and I was able to research big ticket items.

  • I might just to use the discount for myself but we don't *need* much for the baby. We kept all gear pretty gender neutral and if we end up having a boy, clothes is really all we'll need.

  • My DD is almost 21 months. We will use most of her stuff but we will need a new monitor with two cameras. I'm not sure about a double stroller. Considering a sit and stand bc DD isn't a fan of strollers and we don't use it much. I'll probably hold off and she how we get along without it. We need a swing. DD's broke after 4 months so we exchanged it for a jumperoo.  I want to splurge and get a halo swivel bassinet. My set up last time with the pack n play in our room was awful for nursing all night and my painful broken tailbone.
  • @underthesea my 20 month old hates the stroller too haha! What monitors are you looking at!!! I want a new one! But I'd love one I could pull up from my phone too
  • @emilyn2012 I'm not sure. But probably not the same one...which I can't remember. The monitor isn't clear anymore. It's fine now with my toddler because I'm not worried if she's still breathing while she sleeps but not for a newborn.

  • @underthesea I'm really considering getting a nest camera but with DD being almost 2 it seems like a big expense since it wouldn't be in her room that long, but I really want one in there for when we do the transition to toddler bed so I can tell her to GET BACK IN bed! I even considered just keeping it in there for a few months and then just moving it over to the babies room in like march bc we aren't heavy monitor users anyway

We saved most of the gear from our son, but there is still some new stuff we will need.  I have created a registry but it's really just for the completion discount.  I don't plan on having a shower.
    We need:
    -new swing
-car seats (because the infant seats we have expire in March.  Of course.)
    -a sit-and-stand stroller
-new nipples/parts for bottles and breast pump
    -crib sheets
    -changing pad covers
-decor for nursery (hamper,  mobile, wall art etc)
-baby book for me to fill out intermittently
-birth through one year picture frame (we have one for our son so I want to make things as 'equal' as possible)
-new clothes, especially in the event of a girl
-new baby meds (gripe water, fever reducer, teething tabs etc) and toiletries (shampoo, desitin and so on)

  • The big items on ours will be a new crib/mattress and a double stroller. I may add more things as I see them, but I don't plan to share the registry with anyone unless they specifically ask for it  (I'm not having a shower, I'm pretty sure, since my family doesn't do it for baby #2 and I'm currently on the outs with DH's mom and sister). I'm basically going to be doing one for my own benefit with the completion discount.

  • We don't need much at this point. Most of our stuff from my son will be reused. For monitors, I wanted to throw out there to check security cameras on amazon. We bought one that we can use our phones to see and it was about half the price of a video "baby monitor" but works the same. We may get a second camera to put in my sons room when the baby comes. I didn't use the video monitor until he was 1 but I like it more for when he is playing in there I can check on him without interrupting him.

  • I will only really be doing one if this one is a boy.  I have everything from DD still so if it's a girl I won't really need anything.  I already bought a new infant car seat and a double stroller so I really just want a new double camera monitor.

  • @Carly79 can you talk over the one you got? Can you tell me who makes it?
  • This is the one we got https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B012W533PO/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1. It's called Gooloo Goocam. You can talk through it. The directions for use were not great and there has been a lot of trial and error for us. In all honesty, I'm not a huge fan of the audio part of this so we actually have a cheap audio monitor that we use overnight while sleeping. We got the audio monitor shortly after my son was born because the Motorola baby monitor we bought the app didn't work on our phones and we returned it. We were good with the audio monitor but occasionally wanted to be able to look at him so eventually we found this and the price was right. I think we paid $99 for it and I see today it's $59 on amazon.
