Re: Mental health check in 7/13
I'm excited to be back on my anxiety meds, I hate feeling so out of control in that regard.
I also just can't wait to hold her. We had a miscarriage a year ago yesterday, so the idea of just being able to say her name, and see her tiny face and fingers and toes, it's overwhelming.
Do you have a plan for postpartum treatment? I have not stopped taking the small dose of meds I was on before as my doctor said it is safe. I took them with 2 of my other pregnancies and it went well. That is what I will keep doing. Also, I learned some great ways to relax while I was going to therapy and I incorporate those along with some yoga (when I have time which isn't much anymore).
Round it out with something positive! What are you looking forward to the most after the birth of your baby? Besides baby snuggles, not waddling around and being so uncomfortable all the time!
How is your anxiety/depression/stress this trimester? I've been great this entire pregnancy up until a few weeks ago. I started feeling the pains of pregnancy and it's taken a toll on me both physically and mentally. At times the physical pain has been so intense that I can't function normally and I feel pathetic about it.
Ive also recently had some issues come up regarding body issues. I am not super comfortable in front of the photo but wanted to take advantage of this last opportunity to take family photos (the first we've ever done) with DD before we become a family of four. The photographer posted a sneak peek of me and DH and my first thought was aww... sweet, quickly followed and overshadowed by being disgusted by how I looked. I started tearing apart everything and it reminded me of growing up with a mom that was super over critical of her looks and how that impacted me. I started to feel bad about the example I would be setting for my daughters and how they view themselves. To be fair, I don't talk negatively about myself when around her. It's more of a private thing but I know the anxiety about my body can probably be sensed by her.
Do you have a plan for postpartum treatment? I have never tried therapy but I think it's time I take it seriously.
Round it out with something positive! What are you looking forward to the most after the birth of your baby? Watching my daughter interact with her new best friend. I always wanted a sister and I know they will have a special bond forever.

@justaudrey I find therapy really helpful because my psych gives me lots of tips and reminders. My new motto is to take each day one at a time and just focus on that. Also you are doing an amazing thing by carrying a baby! I know when I look down at my very swollen feet and ankles I can get kinda down in the dumps, but I keep telling myself it is temporary and my body is doing something pretty spectacular!
I cant believe how we are getting so close to the end!

My plan is the same to handle postpartum depression. I will stay on my meds and keep meeting with my psych. I would like to get into a mommy and me kind of support group after our baby is here.
My positive this week is that our shower is FINALLY this weekend! I am so excited to be able to get everything organized. Up until this point I have really felt in limbo. It will be satisfying to get it all done and celebrate this baby!

How is your anxiety/depression/stress this trimester?
I've only had 2 panic attacks this whole pregnancy. The last one was yesterday. DH is in the middle of possibly changing jobs in the next several days/weeks, I'm on bed rest, money is SUPER tight and then in our US appointment I could tell the Tech found something she didn't like. Before the OB came in it just hit me. Something else was wrong. Thankfully DH is awesome and started talking to me about other things and it was only a small attack. But it was headed in a bad place.
With DS scheduled to be here 3 weeks early and me being on bed rest the last 3 weeks, Our day care isn't promised till November. I asked my mom today if she would be willing to watch DS for a month for us. She said yes, then went home to talk to my dad and decided she didn't want to do it. It would interfere with her tennis schedule. That only added to my stress. Oh well. I'll work on that issue tomorrow!
Do you have a plan for postpartum treatment?
My only plan is to be honest and open with DH and a few very close friends that have already reached out. I generally wear my emotions on my sleeve, and DH is very good about picking up when I do try to hide it or if im overwhelmed.

My carpal tunnel to go away!!! I know that sounds stupid right now, but OMG I can't stand this stuff. That and being off bed rest!! I miss running.
I've actually been doing MUCH better this trimester since I've reached all the viability milestones. I'm so close to 37 weeks now that I've calmed down a lot, but I will feel even better when I do reach that milestone. I did have literally the worst panic attack I've ever had in my life the other day when my tongue went completely numb after eating. I thought I was going into anaphylactic shock and I was home alone on my day off while DH was working. It went away after about an hour and the panic attack receded somewhere around that time as well. I looked up on Google and found out that it's common in pregnancy due to nerve compression. I feel silly for panicking so much, but at the same time, I'll probably panic if it happens again. I hate tongue numbness. The dentist accidentally made it go numb one time when I had to have a filling a few years ago and I panicked then too. Don't know what it is that sets me off.
Do you have a plan for postpartum treatment?
I have a therapist that I plan to make appointments with. She's the one who helped me overcome my OCD for the most part and she's helped me a lot with my general anxiety disorder. I know she'll be a big help if I develop PPD as well. Since I'm moving so soon after having LO, though, I'm going to need to find a new therapist in my new city fast!
Round it out with something positive! What are you looking forward to the most after the birth of your baby?
Since I miscarried my first pregnancy I'm most looking forward to actually meeting this baby, holding her and seeing what she looks like. I can't wait to see what her personality is on the outside, because she seems feisty on the inside. I'm already so in love with her, and I just want to meet her already!
How is your anxiety/depression/stress this trimester?
I've been really calm throughout my pregnancy but my anxiety has been increasing lately, so I'm really trying to focus on the little things that I can control and take time to breathe as deeply as possible.
Do you have a plan for postpartum treatment?
Hubby, coping skills and support from family are going to help me best. Monitoring my mental health after little one is here will be important to me.
Round it out with something positive! What are you looking forward to the most after the birth of your baby?
I can't wait to finally get to use all his baby stuff and just start to build an attachment with him. Seeing hubby as a dad will be the coolest thing, I can't wait to be a mom!
