car seat tent/canopy

I was thinking about trying to make something like this: https://joyfullydomestic.blogspot.com/2010/06/car-seat-canopy-car-seat-cover-car-seat.html
But then I was thinking with a baby born in July/August... will I want/need this??? It is already so warm outside, won't it just heat baby up even more?
Are any of you going to use a tent/canopy for your baby?

Re: car seat tent/canopy

  • It's a good shade provider, in my opinion. I'm due the 1st, and will definitely have one. Same idea as sun hats to me!

  • I got a milk snob cover for the same reason as above. We definitely don't need it to keep baby warm, but it will nice to provide some shade for baby and to keep random people away in public places.

  • The baby is born in the summer but you will still be carrying them in the infant seat over the cooler months. I got the free car seat canopy thing I've seen a million coupons for (or it may have just been super discounted not free). It worked well and I am using it again for this baby. It's not for shade but for windy days, rainy days, super cold days, etc
  • I had this (https://www.amazon.ca/Munchkin-BRICA-Infant-Comfort-Canopy/dp/B005FWCEGG) for my last summer baby and LOVED it. I also just made a stretchy one like the milk snob and I have a canopy like the one you posted. I like having options depending on the weather.
  • @eastlyna I picked that one up yesterday on Prime day!  I have gotten two, one for cooler weather and one for hotter weather...
  • I bought muslin canopies since I live in Texas and you can pretty much fry an egg on the sidewalk in this heat. I figured if I needed warmer ones I'd get them in a couple of months.
