Unisom and B6 for morning sickness

So I have been taking a half a unisom and a B6 before bed (suggested by my doctor) and I have felt amazing! I started worrying actually because I wasn't too nauseous and wasn't throwing up so I didn't take it for two days. I threw up 5 times those two days. Started taking it again and haven't thrown up since! I highly recommend to anyone with morning sickness!

Re: Unisom and B6 for morning sickness

  • The exact same for me! 2 days without it and I'm a mess.

  • I take unisom at night only when I have trouble sleeping (it doesn't do anything for morning sickness..it's just a sleep aid). And I also take B6, with food, during the day for nausea. My OB recommended either 25mg/3x a day OR 50mg/2x a day. It's helped keep off the nausea all day!

I have some from my last pregnancy I'm keeping in my backup arsenal for when I start feeling really bad.  Glad it's working for you ladies!!
  • It looks like I'm going to buy some B6 today and get rid of this nausea.
  • I do the same thing... start to worry when my nausea gets better!!

  • The unisom knocked me on my arse! I couldn't do it, I was foggy for two days straight after I took it! Glad it's working for you tho!

@jstringfellow19 and others-- Just make sure you do research and/or talk to you doctor about dosing. Usually 25-50mg dose.  The only pills I could find I have to cut in quarters.  Don't just buy it and pop a pill.  I got too much of it in my system last pregnancy and had some scary loss of feeling
  • Thank for that @kjd291 I will definitely ask my dr next week.
  • @kjd291 What do you mean "loss of feeling?" Like numbness?
  • I had HG with my previous two pregnancies and found NO relief in anything.  However, my midwife prescribed this as an OTC alternative to Diclegis (because my insurance doesn't cover Diclegis) and it has been AMAZING!!!  Zofran can go to hell, as far as I'm concerned!

Yeah, sorry. My DD was stealing my phone before I could proof read.  Loss of feeling/tingling/numbness in my hands and feet-working its way up the limbs. Pretty scary, but I completely normal for having excess in your body. Nothing life threatening for you or harmful for baby ((Not to freak anyone out!)) but just be aware if you are say taking it 4x a day for 10weeks straight there may be side effects.  So don't take it out of routine day in day out.  See how much you really need it.
