March 2017 Moms

What's your skin care routine?

Hey ladies! I'm just curious what everyone does for their pregnancy skin care regimen? I've been shopping around, trying some new things, and figured we could share what our experiences are with different brands and whatnot.

I've been trying to use more natural products, especially since becoming pregnant, but still use some of my tried and true items.

Night:
Simple Micellar Makeup Remover Wipes
Purpose Gentle Cleansing Wash
Neutrogena Naturals Night Cream

Day:
Purpose Gentle Cleansing Wash
Mumsie Natural Daily Facial Moisturizer with SPF 15 (The jury is still out on this one. The lotion itself is okay, absorbs well with no greasy feel. But I've gotten a couple pimples since starting it and the fragrance is super strong. I love oranges, but I don't relish my face smelling like one all day)
Cover Girl TruBlend Pressed Powder (I'm not a daily makeup wearer, but I use this to absorb oil and even out my skin tone a bit)

Body lotion:
Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion (Though I'm open to suggestions for something different)

Sunscreen:
Planning to try my son's Babyganics SPF 50 Mineral-based Sunscreen when the need arises.

Feel free to add whatever else... Makeup, stretch mark creams/oils, etc. I'm curious to see what we all use!

Re: What's your skin care routine?

  • My favorite body lotion of all time is Lubriderm unscented - it's so moisturizing. I use it twice daily and will continue. For stretch marks I used
the Burt's Bees Mama Bee last time around.

  • I need a new daily face wash.  I was using Sunday Riley. Which I didn't feel super clean from and it's expensive. I have combination skin any reccs?

I love the philosophy vitamin c microdelivery peel for exfoliation. I use a lot of the Murad products for moisturizing.

So during pregnancy my body lotion is Basq. It's rich non greasy and (strech mark debate aside.. lol) prevents strech marks. A girlfriendof mine recommend it to me bc it actually helped her to get rid of some of her adolescent strech marks. It has great reviews and I'm a beleiver! :-)
  •  @vino831 Vanicream is my favorite face wash- it's allergen free and has been the best for my skin! It's at Walgreens usually on bottom shelf in skin care section.

I'm loving the Boscia charcoal stick for face wash.  I'm still using proactiv as well.
    Lilypie Maternity tickers
  • Right now for my face I'm just using some clean&clear face wash. It's pretty gentle on my skin, so I like it. I'll occasionally add some coconut oil too if my face feels a little dry after. For lotion I'm using a combo (2 times a day) of Jergens Shea Butter lotion and some pure coconut oil. Even though my legs feel nice and soft, they just keep peeling and I don't know why! It's like the baby wants me to have an entirely new right leg at this point.  :/ Any suggestions for controlling the peeling?

And if anyone would like to know: The coconut oil I use is Skinny & Co. Coconut oil and it's pretty amazing.

  • I use Neutrogena acne face wash, Purpose facial moisturizer and NARS weightless foundation and concealer.  occasionally I'll use Boscia luminizing black mask

I've never heard of this, but I have some gnarly stretchmarks from my first pregnancy.  If you think it might help prevent more and potentially eliminate some of the old ones - I AM IN.
  • I use my grandmother's tried and true routine -- Oil of Olay (with SPF) in the AM, and Pond's cold cream to wash my face off at night. The woman lived to be 92 and had the softest, most wrinkle-free skin I have ever known. I also use Noxema in the shower to wash my face.
  • @vino831 and @hippiemama umm yes what is this magic cream?! I'm willing to try it lol. I already have a few stretch marks on my sides and thighs, so it won't be the end of the world for me to get more, but if I can prevent it that would be great!

Also @KellyT22 I've heard great reviews about mama bee! I might get that as well :)

As far as skin care, I'm kind of crazy (and a self proclaimed Sephora addict), but I have always stayed loyal to Purity face wash by Philosophy. It is the only face wash that gets all of my make up off and does not leave my skin feeling stripped afterwords! I have dry skin around my nose but semi oily every where else, so it's a constant trial and error process to find what works for me! I love using oils at night as skin moisturizers and definitely SPF during the day, trying to avoid those wrinkles later in life ;)
  • My mom has always used Clinique everything, so most of my skin care (but not my makeup - that's a hodgepodge in of itself) is from there. I use their mild liquid facial soap, makeup remover, and their dramatically different moisturizing lotion. (I used to use their clarifying lotion but, meh). I have very oily skin, but their moisturizer made for oily skin dries me out. So instead, I just use the one for normal to dry skin. It might cause me to break out more, but that's better than the irritation I get from the oily skin formula. Kind of weird. In addition, I use Biore strips for my extremely stubborn blackheads, and occasionally I do The Body Shop's Tea Tree Face Mask to absorb excess oil and reduce blemishes from past and present acne.
  • @dubcompanion I second Clinique. I've used it since I was a teenager.

Mild liquid facial soap & Dramatically different moisturizing gel. I have super oily skin, so the gel works better than the lotion for me.
  • @Schumerator
I use the purity body wash and I LOVE it! Has such a fresh clean scent and doesn't dry my skin out at all.
  • @direwolfmini The gel is what dries out my skin, otherwise I'd definitely use that! Maybe my face has become less oily over time .... No, can't be. I just swiped at it, and it's like I dabbed my finger in olive oil. I think my skin is just high-maintenance. :frowning:
  • @dubcompanion my face is a patchwork of SUPER oily to normal, but the oily parts win out.

I only buy when there is a Clinique bonus somewhere and they almost always have a Dramatically different lotion in there, so I save it for winter time OR when I have a bad sunburn. During the winter I can get away with using the lotion, but I HAVE to use the gel in the summer. If I wanted to be totally crazy I would use lotion on my cheeks and gel everywhere else.

  • I can not vouch for getting rid of them personally but the girlfriend of mine that turned me onto this stuff swore by it.  One review I read of the product mentioned to use it anywhere you might get larger during pregnancy. So I used it on stomach and rear end as well as arms and thighs. Nowhere else bc it isn't cheap. I gained about 45 lbs. Went from a size 4 to 10/12. I used the lotion daily before bed, with frequent exfoliation  (which is also supposed to prevent them) and I didn't get a single strech mark. Also both my mother and grandmother got pretty awful marks from their pregnancy.

I also used the oil (immediately after shower) cream after I dried off- but not as regularly.

    Hope this helps ladies!! :-)

  • Hey Ladies! I got my PPT on June 30th and this is my first time participating in a group chat with other March 2017 mums! I'm so looking forward to sharing this experience with all of you and benefitting from each other's stories, particularly because this will be my first!

For over six months now I've used Arbonne products exclusively for my skincare regime (as well as haircare, cosmetics, etc.) and I intend to use their ABC line of baby essentials when the time comes, too. The company is careful to never claim that it's 100% organic, because they blend the purest of nature with the safest of science but they are vegan (free of animal by-product "fillers"), cruelty-free, pH correct, made without artificial fragrances/dyes and are paraben and phthalate-free, too. The quality is unlike anything I've used before, so my dry skin is all gone and my face now feels like... a baby's bum, I suppose! lol

Full disclosure, I became obsessed with the products immediately and bought so many of them that I actually started my own business to get a discount and redirect my spending into my own store, and a few ladies on my team have already started to share which items will help me ward off stretch marks  >:) too... I'll be sure to share those tips as I start to use them!

The Re9 anti-aging line is the skincare line I use... it's their top selling line, including a cleanser, toner, renewal serum, eye creme, day creme with SPF and night creme. It's great for everyone (even those who suffer from eczema) but there are tonnes of others to choose from, so there's something for everyone in the family.

Anyway, I won't bore anyone with more details, but if anyone wants more information about the company and its products I'd be happy to redirect you to my site. Cheers!  <3

I have a lots of experience with redness during pregnancy. I guess it's a hormonal imbalance (I am in second trimester). The only thing that soothes my skin at this moment is Medik8 serum because it has a calming effect for redness and irritation. I tried almost everything, I`m even avoiding hot drinks and food. Does anyone else have this problem?

As for the the stretch marks, I am using only ivy oil, apply it every night, sometimes with the help of my SO :D
