NBR - Target store baby items

I need someone to talk me through this.. is it true target stores throw away and/or destroy baby related items that are returned? (Aside from formula/good.. I'm talking car seats, strollers, ect.) I accidentally ordered the wrong color stroller online. I noticed the mistake when it came so I ordered the correct color, and then was going to return the wrong color when the new one came. I returned an outfit today and asked the lady if I could bring the stroller to the store or can I mail it somewhere and she told me they will have to discard it! My stomach dropped!!! I feel absolutely terrible if this is true because I haven't even used this stroller and because of safety issues (?) they are going to throw away a $700 stroller?!?! Any insight?

Re: NBR - Target store baby items

  • My mom works at target and she said she is pretty sure they don't throw it away. She said some of the stores put the item back on the shelf to sell and label it for a discounted price that says "as is". Or if they don't put it out to sell she thinks they sell it back to the company. Hope this helps

  • I work for a different retailer that sells lots of baby products.  When we get items returned, we resell it as long as it is in safe and working condition.  The only exception is open car seats, once tags are removed from a car seat we send it back to be destroyed because we can't guarantee it hasn't been in an accident.  Hopefully they do the same.
  • I have seen many items (like strollers) re-sold. Like PP said, they're usually tagged as "repackage" or "as is". If it's not what you wanted, then return it.
