Upcoming appointments? Posting from the 3 hour glucose test right now. I'm sure I'm the odd one out, but I actually kind of like the taste of the glucose drink, at least the lemon lime one.
Rants/Raves/Questions? The reality that I'm about to be a mom in three months and my life now will no longer exist is kind of freaking me out. I've got a pretty decent routine and I'm nervous that adding the unpredictability of a baby is going to shake things up a lot more than my sanity can handle. Part of the nervousness stems from never caring for a young child before, I was never one to babysit when I was a teenager. The last time I was around a baby consistently was my little sister and that was 22 years ago. Eek!
Symptoms/Cravings/Aversions? I am having the worst sciatic nerve pain, but it's in my left butt cheek (is that even the sciatic nerve?). It hurts to sit, bend over, or roll over in bed. Pretty miserable. I even tried to have DH massage it out, but no such luck.
GTKY: What advice would you give other women about being pregnant? I think I would warn them that it's far more involved than what you see on TV. I was super naïve going into pregnancy, I had no idea of the "extra" symptoms that come along with it. But I'd also tell them to enjoy this time before their LO comes. It's kind of cool to feel bean acting just like me, makes me really wonder how it's going to be once they're here.
27 weeks...possibly 3rd tri, possibly not until next week. Depends on the app/site
What size is baby? A big bottle of Sriracha
Upcoming appointments? None until Juy 21st for my GD test. They misplaced my results with dd and I had to take it twice. Let's hope I just have one round this time!
Rants/Raves/Questions? I got a bunch of stuff for our nursery this week, we just have to hang it all up. I love sitting in the rocker in his room just staring at everything and imagining what he'll be like. I did this with dd towards the end too.
Symptoms/Cravings/Aversions? Acid reflux, hip pain while sleeping, super short of breath when going upstairs, occasional nausea, and what feels like BH contractions, but it might just be baby stretching out in uncomfortable positions. Cravings: oatmeal with almond slices and fruit. Aversions: spicy foods, only because I've made that mistake a few times and paid for it later.
GTKY: What advice would you give other women about being pregnant?
Maybe take pictures along the way, because you'll love to look back on them after. Also, I should take my own advice here, but don't be so hard on yourself about the changes happening. No pregnant woman should feel fat, I guarantee strangers aren't looking at you thinking that, they're seeing a pregnant woman! And don't worry so much about stretch marks. There's nothing you can do about them, and they fade soooo much after baby. Honestly loose skin is more of an annoyance than stretch marks at the end of this.
@nataliemaephotography You'd be surprised how quickly instincts take over once you're thrown into taking care of a baby. Most people don't have a clue what they're doing, you just wing it and do what works for you/baby. For sure your life changes, but you'll get to a point where you hardly remember what life was like before you were a mom. You'll do great!
Upcoming appointments? GD test and ultrasound to check my cervix on Wednesday.
Rants/Raves/Questions? Just the usual "I'm tired of bed rest" complaint.
Symptoms/Cravings/Aversions? I'm staying away from barbecue for now because it gives me the worst acid reflux. I crave hamburgers on the daily.
GTKY: What advice would you give other women about being pregnant? Make sure you go to all your prenatal appointments and always call your dr. if you feel something is not right. On the less scary side, rest as much as you can, drink a lot of water and enjoy those baby kicks.
How many weeks? 27- 3rd tri! What size is baby? Head of lettuce Upcoming appointments? Just GD test 7/19 Rants/Raves/Questions? I am loving all the extra movements the last couple of weeks. We also got our nursery furniture set up finally, so things are feeling more real. Symptoms/Cravings/Aversions? Discomfort while sleeping. Cravings are still corn on the cob and ice cream in a waffle cone. Not really an aversion, but I think I might start avoiding pizza- I've noticed the heartburn is worse after it. GTKY: What advice would you give other women about being pregnant? enjoy it while it lasts! It's going so fast. Let people help when they offer (this one is hard for me, because I'm normally so independent). Put your feet up!
Wow, we're all at 27 weeks so far. I wonder if any of us will give birth on the same day.
nataliemaephotography I liked the taste of the GD drink too. I had fruit punch and it reminded me of Mondo fruit punch drink.
How many weeks? 27
What size is baby? A banana split
Upcoming appointments? Just had my GD test (negative! Phew!), and I don't have another appointment until July 19th.
Rants/Raves/Questions? I'm finally going to paint some test swatches in my son's room (which we're going to put the baby in eventually). We've been really lackadaisical about the nursery since we figure baby will sleep in the bassinet in our room until he's 6 months old and our son is still in his crib in the nursery. But I'm really excited about painting.
Symptoms/Cravings/Aversions? So grumpy. Heartburn, trouble sleeping, mild nausea every night (probably related to the heartburn). I've been craving a veggie burger and fries all week, so we're going to have that at some point today.
GTKY: What advice would you give other women about being pregnant? Well, for stay-at-home second-time-moms, I'd say try to get a mother's helper or daycare or something because pregnancy with a toddler is rough. Like @ashleyp625 said, let people help if they offer. Pregnancy is hard enough without trying to do everything yourself.
Upcoming appointments? I just had a regular office visit yesterday and am due for yet another ultrasound next Friday to check on the Placenta Previa.
Rants/Raves/Questions? All I want to do is start nesting for this little one, but first I need to move my 2 year old to her big girl room and I CAN NOT decide on a bed. First I wanted to get a daybed to fit the room better, then I was sold on a twin with a trundle, now I'm back and forth between a regular full or a twin. UGH! I know that this is not a real problem, but I just want to get one bedroom finished so I can start getting everything ready for baby and washing everything.
Symptoms/Cravings/Aversions? All the seasonal fruit is amazing right now. I'm trying to eat as much of the fresh fruits and veggies as possible, but then I pass by a fast food place and instantly feel the need to get some fries. Basically I just want to eat everything.
GTKY: What advice would you give other women about being pregnant? Every pregnancy is different. Don't let anyone tell you how you should be feeling or what you should be doing. My Dr. described my first pregnancy as a 'textbook pregnancy', but this one has been so much more difficult. Try to just relax and take care of yourself.
What size is baby? Cauliflower. Also, he's the size of my son's 14" doll.
Upcoming appts? 26 week appt and growth ultrasound.
Rants/Raves/Questions? I'm so excited. My husband is almost finished painting the nursery/ guest bedroom! The room is kind of dark, so we used a sunshine yellow to brighten it up. He just has to paint the ceiling and we'll be done with that step. We can start moving the furniture in there and getting the baby stuff organized and put away!
Symptoms/Cravings/Aversions? I still can't eat ice cream without feeling yucky. I've been having weird and sometimes scary dreams and have been waking up from sleeping on my back a lot lately, which scares me because I'm afraid that I'm hurting the baby.
GTKY: What advice would you give other women about being pregnant? Pregnancy is not easy, but it's really worth it. Also, do what the doctor tells you to do, but don't be afraid to research and ask questions.
