@LaFemmeViolette - I don't think you can take Advil but my doc said that Tylenol is okay. You might want to check with your RE to be sure, though. I hope your headache gets better soon!

Question - so I'm taking estradiol leading up to my stims, is that to keep me from ovulating? I know some wise ladies on the board know the answer to this.

AFM- Got some pretty disappointing news at my baseline this morning. The nurse saw a cyst and my estrogen was high. I was able to talk to my RE directly and he said the cyst was caused by my BCPs not suppressing my ovaries enough like they should have. I'm pretty pissed, because I knew this would happen when my cycle wasn't AT ALL affected by the BCPs. My doctor had me start the pills in my luteal phase (CD 20) and I got my period (full flow) on the day I was supposed to start (CD 31) and it lasted as long as it always does. Call it a woman's intuition, but I just knew the BCPs weren't doing their job, and I was right.
Soooo... I'm postponed. My doctor wants me to stay on the BCPs (I'm unclear as to why that would help, but whatevs) and go back in on Tuesday for another baseline to see if the cyst and my estrogen levels have gone down on their own. If they have, they might clear me to start stims, if not, I will need to get the cyst drained before I can start stims.
Has anyone here had a cyst drained before? I'm terrified!

@wifeinraleigh28 I've had cysts drained before in the past. It was like a bad period cramp, but the pain went away within a day.

@wifeinraleigh28 I love the chart you made for everyone! Your organization is awesome, I'm jelly haha. I am sorry to hear that a cyst has moved in and delayed everything. I hope that they can drain it soon to help you move on to the next step.
How are all the ladies stiming?!? Do we have any set trigger dates or ER dates yet? When I triggered I was on stims for 10 days first..Longest 10 days ever haha
To give ya'll a brief run down(like I said I published my book in the other post ) I had my first IVF fresh cycle and ER on 5/04/16. It was a Freeze All because I came down with OHSS from stimming and we moved the transfer to 6/2/16 after the arrival of AF. My beta on 6/15 came back BFN so now DH and I are waiting on AF so we can start with FET #2. I have a Endometrial Biopsy this afternoon and I am hoping AF will be here next weekend which means if she is on time we will be planning a transfer for the first week of Aug. I will know my official transfer date most likely sometime after next weekend. FX that this works for us this time!! I was pretty hurt that our frosties weren't ready to join us but now all I can do is try and find hope that these next ones are ready to become our angels in real life

Well, the headache is still here. I'm mostly ok if I'm laying down, but man this sucks. Went to have an u/s and bloodwork today and everything looks pretty good. I think I had 4-5 good-sized follicles. Dr told me to add in ganarelix tonight, saturday, and sunday, and then I'll go back in Monday morning for another u/s. But they seemed pretty confident my retrieval would be next week. Hopefully this headache doesn't last the rest of the time I'm on stims, but even so, at least it'll be over soon.
I'm still a little unclear on how many follicles we're aiming for here. They said it is based on my AMH level (which, if I remember correctly was 3.25). They mentioned that 7-12 follicles would be great, but I swear I've read some posts where gals had like 15, 20, 30+!

@LeFemmeViolette That headache needs to GO AWAY, ugh. No fun. I'm always unclear about the follicle # thing too. But I do think that they can sometimes retrieve more than 1 egg per follicle, but I'm unclear about that one too. FX for your ER next week.

@LeFemmeViolette Sorry to hear your headache has persisted for so long! Hang in there! As far as # of follicles/eggs, I think it is really just very different for everyone and partly depends on your fertility diagnosis as well as the IVF protocol. For some women who have PCOS the number of follicles can get pretty high (20's/30's) but that's not always the case. For me, I have a really low AMH level and am diagnosed with diminished ovarian reserve and I have 3 good size follicles growing this time (had two last time around - but ended up with 1 pgs normal frozen embie!). I've learned it's really helpful not to compare yourself to others!

@LeFemmeViolette sorry about the headache. That's miserable. I agree with kellyfish79. I think it varies from woman to woman on the number of follicles. My afc has been 7-9 but I end up with 4-5 mature eggs and only 3 fertilizing. I would love to have more mature eggs but would be happy if a couple of the 3 would make it to day 5. It only takes one.

@LeFemmeViolette I hope your headaches get better! What she said ^^^^ (@wifeinraleigh28) I've always been confused about how many follicles are good but it seems like it's possible to have too many. As @kp214 said, you only need one....it's quality, not quantity!
AFM I have my ultrasound in the morning - I had 8 follicles last week and have been on stims all week. Tonight is my last round of shots, woo hoo!! We shall see if it all worked.

@LeFemmeViolette The follicle/egg variation is crazy isn't it? I had 11 or so follicles at my last ultrasound, 9 eggs retrieved, but only did stims for about a week before 2 follicles took over and grew out of control causing an early trigger. Unfortunately only 4 fertilized with ICSI and 2 made it to day 5. One being PGS normal. My AMH is great and my AFC at last count was 23 so I was pretty bummed we didn't have much to work with especially after seeing others with so many. Hope your headache subsides and those follies do good things by Monday!
Sorry I have been MIA this week....so busy at work. My coworker had her baby a few weeks ago so i have to cover for her in addition my job. ( she got pregnant 2 weeks after my fail last sept...after she claimed she couldn't have kids) its been tough but i'm happy for her. I started AF yesterday along with estradiol patches happy to get this going. 24 more days until i get to transfer bay atkins

@LittleSunshine OMG we have the same transfer day I started AF yesterday so I started minivelle patches last night. my next ultrasound is 7/26 to check lining. then if all good i start pio. then transfer 1: 15 8/2 . which happens to be my hubby's b day. and we are going on a mini vacation which he is surprising me. i saw you got a lot of eggs at ER. i saw only 9 frozen? i mean that still a lot to be froze. i only have 4 froze. and i also did pgs testing. I got 3 normal girls and 1 inconclusive which we know nothing but are still able to use if necessary. @Joslynj11 welcome to the group and maybe we will be close on transfer date

@kp214 I saw you have MTHFR too I have been on special prenatal but i cant take baby asprin or lovenox due to brain hemorrhage ( NOT CLOT). what are you doing for the mthfr?

@shauna43 Right now my plan is just waiting until Tuesday to find out what my cyst is doing. My RE prescribed me a real BCP this time (rather than some low dose BS like before) and he hopes this will get rid of it and lower my estrogen levels. If all looks good on Tuesday then hopefully I will be cleared to start stims.... otherwise I will need to have it drained before I start stims. Either way I'm hoping that it won't be too much of a delay. Thank you, it really is just one delay after another, ugh! I'm sorry you've had to wait so long for your transfer.

@shauna43 I'd have to go back in my records and check, but either I'm a carrier or that it affects how I process folic acid. I can't remember now. It's been so long since I was told that. I have to take metanex, a special type of folic acid, so I think it's for that. I've been on baby aspirin before, so I'm not sure exactly what my issue is. I'm sorry I'm not more help. It's hard when people around us are pregnant. Some days it's better than others. I'm at a point now that I can't watch pregnant women on tv without getting upset/sad. Hang in there. Fingers crossed this transfer is the one!

I hope you're all having a great weekend! I had my ultrasound this morning - not so great numbers I have 8 follicles total, three were too small to measure, 2 were 4 (millimeters??) and three were 5. Argh. The RE nurse said just continue to take my meds but I've read I can get these babies to grow by drinking whole milk products and using a heating pad. Have you guys heard of anything like this? It's so frustrating - being old sucks!

AFM, I saw RE yesterday and got confirmation, trigger tonight and ER will be Tuesday morning! Now I'm having a memory lapse though...I can't remember if I'm supposed to do my Gonal-F tonight as normal before I do trigger. Gonal-F is normally around 6:30/7:00, trigger isn't until 9:00pm. Anyone remember if they did their normal stim shot the same night as trigger?

Hey @Kellyfish79 looks like we're on the same schedule! I saw my RE yesterday and I'm triggering tonight for a Tuesday retrieval. They told me to trigger at 10:30 PM and at the same time take whatever Follistim I have left. Hope that helps!

AFM: My husband has his last round of tests tomorrow (Monday). That should totally rule out cancer from his May issues. We should also get results from the tests he had at the end of last week to see if we are being pushed from the August to September cycle.
I'm officially 1 year older in the chart of stats for success and we've set a move date to our new house. I figured out I'm only taking Lupron before our move (dependent on push of cycle), so I put all of the other meds in the new house. We had an open house at our house today with someone potentially making an offer tonight, so I feel like things are starting to turn around!
@shauna43 what a fun gift on your DH's birthday! That is wonderful you have 4 frozen and 3 PGS normal. And 3 sweet little girl embies . I have 9 frozen while I wait for PGS testing (for chromosome abnormalities) and PGD testing (for a specific genetic disorder). I should find out at the beginning of this next week how many come back normal! I have an ultrasound tomorrow, which if all goes well I should be dropping my lupron down to 5 units a night and then starting oral estrace. I don't think I will have PIO shots in my protocol!

Trigger Warning ****************************************************************************** Hi Ladies! I'd like to join you as I had very good experiences with the last support group. So as you can tell from my signature I'm a veteran who's still trying for a THB. I was with the April/May group and was very excited about my results. But alas it was not meant to be.
Thankfully my insurance paid for MC testing, which helped me put my illogical feelings of guilt and self-blame to bed. The test proved that it was Trisomy 7 and not my fibroids that caused it. I am still trying to shrink the fibroids naturally instead of using surgery. And I have had to seek weekly spiritual counseling to continue the healing process from losing what would have been our little girl.
Nevertheless, I'm ready to try again and since AF showed yesterday my RE has told me to start BCPs tomorrow and have a FET in August/September. We had PGS testing through a clinical trial and have 3 frozen embryos that we can transfer. We've decided to just transfer 1.
I look forward to lending support and encouragement to everyone. Thanks for accepting me!

Hi everyone, I'm hoping I can join in on this thread? I've started BCPs a week ago for my 2nd round of IVF, my first round was last July and unsuccessful. It's taken me this long to feel ready enough to give it another go. I feel like I am in a completely different head space this time around and I'm just trying to stay positive. If all works out I will be having my ER sometime in the 2nd week of August. I'm told they think the issue was egg quality so this time around I am doing all sorts of things to try to improve the quality.

@teriulbricht welcome! I know how you feel. I had a unsuccessful ivf#1 as well. Last sept. Are you taking Coq10 (ubinoqol) and acai berry for your EQ?
Im glad your feeling different about this ivf. I am too . Its hard to stay positive when youve had a fail. But i feel very relaxed and hopeful. Trying to be realistic. Are you doing a different stim protocol? Or is your clinic trying anything different? I wish you luck and ivf#2 is the magic number!

@shauna43 I am taking CoQ10, but hadn't heard that acai is good also... what does it taste like.. fussy eater here Last time I was on a different protocol because I have polycystic ovaries (not the syndrome, just the ovaries), so this time I'm on the "Gold Standard". It seems to be a longer cycle, to help improve the quality? So instead of two needle injections, I'm doing a nasal spray and then the FSH injections. I think the last time they were trying to prevent hyperstimulation, I ended up with 21 eggs retrieved, but only 1 viable embryo by transfer... I see you've been doing the genetic screening, I'm not sure my clinic offers that option, however both hubby and I have had karyotype testing and all has come back normal. Hoping this cycle is the magic one for you too!

@OCfortythree I hope that those become super follies by tomorrow!! I have taken CoQ10 in the past and that has been said to help with egg quality so maybe just maybe it could help with a growth spurt. I am crossing my fingers for you!!

Nothing new with me, my Endometrial Biopsy went well last Friday. A little painful but not as bad as the HSG. I always just try and tell myself that labor is going to be way worse and that it's practice Well I hope I didn't miss anyone!

Looks like I'll be triggering tomorrow! My u/s showed about 15 follicles. For some reason my right ovary didn't get the memo and only made 3, but my left one is looking really full.
I'm doing one more gonal f/ganarelix/menopur shot tonight, and it looks like my retrieval will be on Thursday. As you can see, I am suuuuper nervous about it, but hopefully it won't be that bad.... right?

AFM- Got some pretty disappointing news at my baseline this morning. The nurse saw a cyst and my estrogen was high. I was able to talk to my RE directly and he said the cyst was caused by my BCPs not suppressing my ovaries enough like they should have. I'm pretty pissed, because I knew this would happen when my cycle wasn't AT ALL affected by the BCPs. My doctor had me start the pills in my luteal phase (CD 20) and I got my period (full flow) on the day I was supposed to start (CD 31) and it lasted as long as it always does. Call it a woman's intuition, but I just knew the BCPs weren't doing their job, and I was right.
Soooo... I'm postponed. My doctor wants me to stay on the BCPs (I'm unclear as to why that would help, but whatevs) and go back in on Tuesday for another baseline to see if the cyst and my estrogen levels have gone down on their own. If they have, they might clear me to start stims, if not, I will need to get the cyst drained before I can start stims.
Has anyone here had a cyst drained before? I'm terrified!

Went to have an u/s and bloodwork today and everything looks pretty good. I think I had 4-5 good-sized follicles. Dr told me to add in ganarelix tonight, saturday, and sunday, and then I'll go back in Monday morning for another u/s. But they seemed pretty confident my retrieval would be next week. Hopefully this headache doesn't last the rest of the time I'm on stims, but even so, at least it'll be over soon.
I'm still a little unclear on how many follicles we're aiming for here. They said it is based on my AMH level (which, if I remember correctly was 3.25). They mentioned that 7-12 follicles would be great, but I swear I've read some posts where gals had like 15, 20, 30+!

@LeFemmeViolette That headache needs to GO AWAY, ugh. No fun. I'm always unclear about the follicle # thing too. But I do think that they can sometimes retrieve more than 1 egg per follicle, but I'm unclear about that one too. FX for your ER next week.

@LeFemmeViolette Sorry to hear your headache has persisted for so long! Hang in there! As far as # of follicles/eggs, I think it is really just very different for everyone and partly depends on your fertility diagnosis as well as the IVF protocol. For some women who have PCOS the number of follicles can get pretty high (20's/30's) but that's not always the case. For me, I have a really low AMH level and am diagnosed with diminished ovarian reserve and I have 3 good size follicles growing this time (had two last time around - but ended up with 1 pgs normal frozen embie!). I've learned it's really helpful not to compare yourself to others!

AFM, I saw RE yesterday and got confirmation, trigger tonight and ER will be Tuesday morning! Now I'm having a memory lapse though...I can't remember if I'm supposed to do my Gonal-F tonight as normal before I do trigger. Gonal-F is normally around 6:30/7:00, trigger isn't until 9:00pm. Anyone remember if they did their normal stim shot the same night as trigger?

AFM: My husband has his last round of tests tomorrow (Monday). That should totally rule out cancer from his May issues. We should also get results from the tests he had at the end of last week to see if we are being pushed from the August to September cycle.
I'm officially 1 year older in the chart of stats for success
I have 9 frozen while I wait for PGS testing (for chromosome abnormalities) and PGD testing (for a specific genetic disorder). I should find out at the beginning of this next week how many come back normal!
I have an ultrasound tomorrow, which if all goes well I should be dropping my lupron down to 5 units a night and then starting oral estrace. I don't think I will have PIO shots in my protocol!

Hi Ladies! I'd like to join you as I had very good experiences with the last support group. So as you can tell from my signature I'm a veteran who's still trying for a THB. I was with the April/May group and was very excited about my results. But alas it was not meant to be.
Thankfully my insurance paid for MC testing, which helped me put my illogical feelings of guilt and self-blame to bed. The test proved that it was Trisomy 7 and not my fibroids that caused it. I am still trying to shrink the fibroids naturally instead of using surgery. And I have had to seek weekly spiritual counseling to continue the healing process from losing what would have been our little girl.
Nevertheless, I'm ready to try again and since AF showed yesterday my RE has told me to start BCPs tomorrow and have a FET in August/September. We had PGS testing through a clinical trial and have 3 frozen embryos that we can transfer. We've decided to just transfer 1.

9/1- MISCARRIAGE. Baby stopped growing at 5 weeks 3 days.
10/19- Have Baseline for IVF#3. Fresh transfer.
10/21- Start stims 300 Follistim 150 Menopur and Ganirelix
11/2/16-ER 43 eggs retrieved. 15 mature. 9 Fertilized. All 9 still growing but 4 are leading and are 8 cell day 3 grade AA.
11/7/16- Fresh transfer of 1 embryo

I'm hoping I can join in on this thread? I've started BCPs a week ago for my 2nd round of IVF, my first round was last July and unsuccessful. It's taken me this long to feel ready enough to give it another go. I feel like I am in a completely different head space this time around and I'm just trying to stay positive.
If all works out I will be having my ER sometime in the 2nd week of August.
I'm told they think the issue was egg quality so this time around I am doing all sorts of things to try to improve the quality.

Aug 2015: IVF #1 = Antagonist Cycle: 100 Puregon and Orgalutran
21 eggs collected, only 1 viable embryo, transferred but BFN
July/Aug 2016: IVF #2 (with acupuncture) = 87.5 Gonal F and Synarel Spray 2xdaily
ER 8/8, transferred 1 day 5 blastocyst 13/8, 2 frosties.
Beta #1 = 85 Beta #2 = 242

Im glad your feeling different about this ivf. I am too . Its hard to stay positive when youve had a fail. But i feel very relaxed and hopeful. Trying to be realistic. Are you doing a different stim protocol? Or is your clinic trying anything different? I wish you luck and ivf#2 is the magic number!

@shauna43 I am excited to be close in cycles, awesome news about your sweet embabies!! I am hoping AF is here by Sunday at the latest! Its hard for me to tell since this is my first unmedicated cycle in like 5 months.
@wifeinraleigh28 I am eager to hear your update tomorrow! I hope it's good news and the cyst is gone! No we didn't do any PGS testing so I guess it we're just playing embryo roulette over here. Here's to the next 2 sticking!!

Nothing new with me, my Endometrial Biopsy went well last Friday. A little painful but not as bad as the HSG. I always just try and tell myself that labor is going to be way worse and that it's practice
