1st Trimester

5 weeks pregnant!

This is my first pregnancy, and I'm sure like many first Mom's, everything is making me worry! Im just 5 weeks pregnant and haven't experienced too many "symptoms" aside from some minimal menstraual type symptoms. The biggest symptom I've noticed is so mild, inconsistent cramping in my lower abdomen and on my left side. Is this normal? My OBGYN said I may have some spotting (which I haven't), but I wasn't sure about the cramping! Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

  • All of that is normal. I suggest joining your birth month club so you can grow and learn along with other women who are on the same time line.

I am also 5 weeks pregnant and so far my only symptoms have been sore breast and cramping. Also I am definitely experiencing a lot of mood swings but that's about it. I hope nausea will never get to me lol

Cramping could be just your busy baby getting cozy. Just watch and don't worry too much. Your first pregnancy is exciting and nerve racking at the same time. Enjoy this special moment case it doesn't last long.
im also 5 weeks with #2 and I have cramping which I had with my first. I'm not worried at all since it's just my body adjusting again.
  • I had mild cramping for a bit with a little bleeding and I know how anxious that can make you feel. Doctor kept warning me that it was perfectly normal and she did not want me to panick. I still panicked a little, but everything turned out just fine (I'm 37 weeks now.) I know you hear crazy stories about how everything is a bad sign, but honestly as long as you don't have severe cramping and bleeding you should be okay. Good luck!
  • My symptoms were pretty mild until around 8-12 weeks and then they kicked up. Some people just have mild symptoms. It can definitely be anxiety provoking but try to remain calm :)

Thank you all so much for your answers! My husband & I are opting not to tell anyone until we're through our first trimester. Definitely feeling lonely since this is my first! My new concern (I feel like this may be a weekly occurrence...!) is the amount of "spotting" or light bleeding that occurs. Is it normal at times for it to resemble the very end of your period (very light)? Thank you all again for your support!
  • Get connected on your bmb you will feel a lot less lonely and get a lot more support then just on the tri boards :)
