Any lovenox (or other blood thinner) users?

Hi ladies! I have the factor 5 mutation and my hematologist is putting me on lovenox injections starting at 8 weeks through 6 weeks after birth. I've had the shots before when I had my gallbladder removed, so Im aware of how unpleasant they are. Anyone else doing this? If so, are you interested in a weekly or even monthly check in? Maybe to share tips on how to make it suck less??

    I'm a lovenox shooter!! Though this time around my insurance is being dumb so I have to use another brand (Heparin I think) which means I get to stick myself twice a day instead of just one! Woohoo

    @gracie424 that stinks! I think I'm switching to heparin a few weeks before they induce because the half life is shorter. This is my first go around with it for more than a few shots (I start tomorrow) and I'm super nervous. The last time I had it lived with a nurse so she gave it to me. Any tips on keeping my belly from looking like it's been beat to hell and back?

    No tips, just wanted to reach out since I'm on lovenox too.  I had a blood clot during my last pregnancy so am on them as a preventative this time. I really, really hate needles- so it is a real struggle for me every day to do the injection.  I travel for work, and my husband has three work trips between now and the end of the year, so I have to be able to do them myself.  It sucks.  Right now I'm having him do them on the weekend and I do them on weekdays.  :-/  Anyone else have a needle phobia they are dealing with?  I keep telling myself I just have to keep it up until the 3rd trimester, and then I can have my husband give them all to me.

    I don't have a needle phobia, but I certainly don't like them. Honestly the needle is the easiest part of lovenox. I've found that an ice cube on my belly numbs it to where I don't feel the needle. And pushing the medicine in really slowly makes it not burn as bad.

    Ugh, you're lucky.  Its not even how it hurts, its the thought of having to puncture my own skin.  Its a nightmare everyday.  I tried an ice cube for a while last time and it honestly didn't make it any easier for me.  I'm just slowly counting down the days.  And hoping one day I start to get over it.

    I'm heterozygous, but my dad has had two PEs. I know some heterozygous people just take baby asprin the entire time and do just fine. I think my doctor is just pretty conservative.

    I am on heparin twice a day and I absolutely can not give myself the shot. It is definitely the idea of sticking myself! My stomach is ridiculously bruised. I am still seeing my RE. He says I'll do the shots for at least 12 weeks until I'm released to my regular OB and then he'll decide if I keep taking them. I have a clotting issue too, so as much as I can't stand the shot, it's definitely worth it!

    I'm on lovenox! I had a blood clot five years ago when I was on birth control, clot ended up in my lung. I saw my doctor for the first time on Monday and she immediately started me on blood thinners. She said I'll stop them at 32 weeks because baby will come anytime after that! So far injections have been easy. The first one HURT but now I ice the area 5 min before and after injections.
