TTC After a Loss

Should we have a TTCAL Grad Thread?

It's in the title! Does anyone feel like maybe we should have an official way to check in on our grads? We could do it monthly or less often? If it's too much for us as a group, I understand.

Re: Should we have a TTCAL Grad Thread?

  • I've always wondered this. I could go either way depending on the day, somedays I'd love it and other's I think I'd be bummed out by the whole thing. Would love to her everyone else's thoughts!

I worry that the additional step of requesting to join a private group of already pregnant people might be stopping some - as it is stopping me.

I don't have strong feelings one way or the other but thought a conversation might be warranted, as it will unfortunately take some of us many more months to get pregnant.

    Edit: missing a word

  • I'm torn on this. I like the idea of a separate group for grads but it's an additional step to join that some might not be comfortable with. I would be ok with a grad thread here and poke my head in when I felt like it. I don't feel super strongly either way so I'm ok with whatever the group decides.

  • I like the idea! I don't think the title of the post itself would be triggering for me and if I don't want to read the new posts I don't have to. But only if it's not upsetting for others. I love our safe space.
  • I feel like I could go either way depending on the day too. But just seeing the name of the thread would not be triggering for me and I could check it if I felt up to it. Definitely want this to remain a safe place for everyone.
  • I think this is a good idea for those that have graduated to keep in touch.

  • I like the idea of having a grad check-in.  I know if I'm having a bad day, I would just skip the post.  To me, having a thread where I can see TTCAL graduates gives me hope.

  • I have thought about this idea before as well. I too wouldn't join the grad group until I'm pregnant, and I would love to hear from the grads from time to time. I agree that if I was having a bad day, that I would just bypass the thread. Mostly I think I'd be happy to read about our success stories, though.
  • I second @beary67 about the hope. I can skip it if I feel like I need to but otherwise I would love a place to see success stories. And to hear from the fabulous ladies that got to move on from here!

  • I was thinking about this the other day. I'm with @beary67 about it giving me hope!
  • I agree that it could foster hope and we could always skip it if we want
  • I do think it would be nice to see how grads are doing. In general, I find that it's not too triggering for me unless I'm having a bad day in which case I would just skip it.

I like this idea. To be honest, I no longer have bad days. I realize that I am in the minority, though. I would love to see other people thriving, as long as it's not too hard for some here.

  • So far, this seems mostly positive. As long as it doesn't make anyone feel less welcome, I am in favour.

Any voices of dissent to consider?

  • I'm another vote in favor. I haven't joined the TTCAL Grad private group yet and probably won't until I get pregnant. I see that group as more of a private PGAL board, since the TB PGAL board is kinda slow (maybe I'm wrong?). Anyway, I'd like to know how our grads are doing, and I agree that I could just skip the thread on bad days. I've been a sporadic poster here lately, though, so I'll defer to the rest of the board's decision.
  • I vote in favour too!

i would love to know how our girls are doing, and on a bad day we can always skip it.

  • OK, I'm going to move forward with this idea tomorrow morning.

If anyone objects for any reason or feels it would be too much for them, send me a private message and I won't say another word about it and simply will not start the thread.

Does that make sense to everyone?

  • I should also ask, what form would you all like it to take? Specific questions? Skip the pregnancy details and more of a catch up? I like the idea of something relatively free form with mostly chit chat, but I'm not a rules kind of person, so if anyone out there feels strongly about a specific set of questions to answer, I'd love to hear it.

  • I kind of like part of the format in the TTGP board. Like, I think starting with "how far along are you" might be helpful but then again I know it won't be a weekly thread so not sure that would work and free form might be best?
  • @rainbowturtles I haven't seen it - I'm not much of a lurker. I'll go take a look! I worry that very specific details of pregnancy might be a lot to handle for some and I really don't want any of this to become uncomfortable for anyone.

  • That makes sense. I guess I wasn't sure if it would be just a general check in and chat or a "how is your PGAL going" type thing <3
  • I like that idea
