I have my first appt Tuesday! I'll be 11w3d! It's been a stressor to wait this long. But I'll get to see baby, that actually looks kind of like a baby! Yay.
I have an appointment to meet the OB on Wednesday, and I guess they'll go over the blood work and all. One of the pamphlets from the hospital said I could choose to see a midwife instead of an OB if everything is normal, so I'm considering bringing that up, I think I would prefer a midwife.
Babies look great, A is head down and B is breech, kicking it's sibling in the face lol (that was the wild one at our last ultrasound too) they're 3oz each and everything is equal (so far). Now we start ultrasounds every 2 weeks to make sure we don't have IUGR or TTTS or incompetent cervix. I have to do 2 glucose tests too. Loottttsssss of appointments!
I have placenta previa- actually I have a giant placenta that's primarily posterior but wraps around the left so a portion is anterior and the edge is covering my cervix. I mean it's good that it's huge because both babies are using it but dang get outta the way! Lol
We are 11w5d and met with the midwife for the first time today. I liked her. She did do a dating ultrasound because I ovulate very late in my cycles and it definitely made a huge difference on our due date. I was spot on, .
All looked well. Baby was moving like crazy. Like crazy! HB was 150. We got our referral for the first trimester screen. My grandmother had a baby with a genetic abnormality, so it's important to us.
The one question I forgot to ask is if she is okay with me doing white water rafting in the coming weeks. Shucks. I feel good so eh.

Just curious if the baby position is something they're paying attention to so early? With my son they didn't mention position until after 30 weeks. Wondering if it's different for twins? Also I think placenta previa is something that resolves pretty often on its own. Good luck!

Not particularly, beyond the fact that every little thing is noted with monochorionic twins. They will run out of room to flip on their own much sooner, and they have less time in general- I won't go past 37 weeks. It was just amusing to me that the firecracker was pretty much kicking it's sibling in the head
I had my full body exam, blood work, and ultrasound today. I was having small bleeding and since I had a preemie before my doctor is super thorough. Baby is 13 weeks and measuring ahead. He/she was super active and cute. I'm so glad the baby is doing okay. I just need to take it easy for a couple days. I will be starting progesterone in a few weeks and looking forward to finding out I have a healthy baby at the anatomy scan.
**Update** Had both abdominal and vaginal ultrasound today. Baby looks awesome! Kicking up a storm... HB was 163 so pretty much right in the middle. Timing was exactly what I said, so that's pretty cool. Yay! Very excited. (I'll update the ultrasound post later)
I had my first trimester screening yesterday. Baby looks fantastic and kept transitioning from being awake to sleeping(baby wasn't in a great position for the u/s, so the tech kept having to wake him/her up. My baby is super stubborn btw!) . SO adorable! The np who spoke to us said that they wanted the baby's nuchal folds to measure no more than 3 and the measurement was right at 1.5, so that was great. Oh and I got to see baby's brain!! It looked like a little butterfly! They did some blood work and a finger prick too, so I should get my results by the end of this week or early next week.
I've been having bad headaches that start out with visua disturbances/blinding bright spots. I called my midwife today and she told me to see my primary doc for a neural exam. I made an appt with my primary and they just called me back to say I need to see my midwife because it could be severe preeclempsia. What?? So annoyed. Now I'm waiting to hear back from my midwife about an appt. I typically have very low blood pressure and didn't have pre-e with my last pregnancy, and I'm only 13 weeks.
@sweetyjenj I went for my progenity test at 10w6d and they said I was too early but still did it and I got the results. The dr said after 10 weeks. Hopefully you can get it done.
@cjs260 thank you! Went to my midwife and by BP was normal. She gave me some painkillers and if that doesn't help then she wants me to get IV fluids for a couple hours. I will have a consult with a neurologist in a few weeks to get checked out. On the plus side, I got to hear baby's strong heartbeat again!
My second appointment was yesterday and I got to hear the beat! I recorded it and I can't wait to share it with family. We scheduled our anatomy scan on August 11th, I can't wait!!!
Sending thoughts and prayers for a safe and healthy pregnancy to everyone.
OK so.. I got the call for my blood results and I missed it (may or may not have still been sleeping ) and she didn't leave my results on the voicemail, and I remember leaving permission for them to do so. So now I'm in a slight panic. I called back, but had to leave a voice mail for her, and so I'm just freaking out a little bit, thinking the worst possible scenario is happening (despite a very good screen)and they just didn't want to leave it on the voice mail. My PGAL brain is in misfire mode and my finger nails are going to be nubs by the time she calls back.
@LCartee2016 this happened to me too! I was completely freaking out because I had given them permission to leave results on VM. I was relieved after hearing back and everything in my case was fine but I was super annoyed at the same time that I had to go through all that anxiety just because they didn't leave a VM. My doctor said they will always try to reach us a couple of times before leaving a vm. I would ask your doctor what their procedure is for future reference!
@scgirl6113 Thank you, I think I will. I spoke to the np just a few minutes ago and, yes, everything came back perfect. Now I'm transitioning into being a little annoyed at the unnecessary (in my opinion) stress, but I think I will double check about their phone policy. I'm mostly just relieved that everything is fine.
@LCartee2016 Glad everything was perfect! Does your doctor have an online portal where they post results? Might be good to check there if something like that happens again.
We got an unexpected ultrasound this morning. First appointment with new OB, she didn't know I had already done an elective 12-week scan and wanted to confirm I wasn't having multiples again. Baby has gotten so much bigger in just 2 weeks, holy cow. Lot more fat on its bones and it was bending its elbows and knees! OB had a student-in-training with her and was instructing her to find the heartbeat on the ultrasound and the student was kind of failing and the OB had to be like, "It's okay. The baby is moving around like crazy so... we really don't need to confirm that unless they're having a zombie baby..." We're doing a quad screening blood draw next week and already got my anatomy scan scheduled for 4 weeks from today. It's so weird how fast everything is happening.
@lcartee2016 I'm also glad everything is great! I'd be freaking out as well!
I had my first midwife appt yesterday and it went well. The only thing of concern is that I have low blood pressure, but they just told me to drink more water. They also struggled to find my veins, which happens each time! I unexpectedly broke down crying when they went over my family history as my mom passed away from cancer last month. I guess it's good for them to know that there's a lot on my mind... They were very comforting.
Then today I had my 12 week scan. Well, I was tracking behind at 8weeks and now I've caught up and am 13 weeks exactly! Doctor said baby looked great and they got some great pictures. It's crazy how much it's grown since my last scan!!! I don't have my next scan till 20 weeks. Long time for baby to grow!
I had my checkup yesterday and tried to not panic when the CNP couldn't find the heartbeat on the doppler after 3 tries with 2 different machines. She was good at keeping me calm and told me that if she couldn't find it (which she said is the case when the baby is moving a lot), that they'd get me an ultrasound right away. So I did get an ultrasound 10 minutes later and got to see the baby wiggling and hear its heartbeat. Whew! I didn't think I'd have a chance to see the baby again until 20w so I was excited for the bonus peek
No appt until Tuesday, but I love this thread! I love to see the progress and exciting milestones everyone is having YAY babies!! P.S. I've been MIA for over a week because we were on vacation.
