Success after IF

Kind of bummed..nothing bought off registry..

and my shower is a week from today.  I'm not trying to sound selfish (which my DH thinks I am) but it took a lot of time to register and we need a lot of stuff for the twins and it would be nice if we got a couple of things that we are actually going to NEED.  It's going to be really expensive to get abosoutely everthing off the registry ourselves.  I'm not trying to sound ungrateful but is one or two things off the registry too much to ask?

  • Don't worry.  People always wait till the last minute to shop - seriously.

  • I noticed with my wedding registry that everyone bought things last minute. ?I'm sure you will get stuff you need at your shower! ?
  • I wouldn't worry about anything....I bet you'll get a ton of last minute shoppers. I know I don't get my shower gifts until only a couple days before.

Good luck! I'm so excited your shower is already here. :)

  • I remember for my wedding, things didn't start coming off a few days before and even then it wasn't much.  I looked the day before or day of and when I was opening gifts, I was like, huh?  this wasn't off the registry, LOL....  sure enough, the  next day, they were gone, so there's probably both a delay in updating the registry and people definitely wait til like the day before, even morning of to buy stuff.
  • Exact same thing happened to me with my shower last weekend.  I was amazed at how much actually showed up at the shower.  A lot of the stuff was bought off of the registry but never came off of the registry and than other people bought similar items but not the exact ones I registered for.  We still have a lot of the "big" items left to buy which stinks but overall it turned out ok.  I was even worried the night before so I feel you!
  • ditto hannah. And to be honest we got so much stuff we didn'tneed (clothes/bibs etc) we just returned tons of excess stuff and got what we did need.
Married on 3.20.2004. It took 30 month, 2 failed adoptions and IVF for our first miracle. We have had 9 foster kids since he was born and started the domestic adoption process when he was 10 month old, we had 4 failed matches in that time. After our daughter was born we brought her home and spent 2 weeks fearing we might lose her because of complications that came up. But Praise God all went through and she is ours forever! • You're sure the information was put in the shower invite?  I do think people wait until the last minute, but I would be concerned if it was a week before and nothing had been purchased too-- what about your parents/ILs?  Are they going to buy you guys any big ticket items?

Maybe it is a glitch with the registry site?  I hope things pick up for you!!

  • Is it BRU? If you don't specifically tell them it is a registry purchase, it won't show that they purchased it off the registry. Mine showed only a couple of items purchased but then at our party we got a lot more off of it that never showed was purchased. People just decided what to get and went and bought it, didn't tell BRU it was off a registry.
  • that doesn't mean nothing was purchased yet so don't get too upset. Besides people waiting until the last minute, we had a 'total gym playmat' on our registry and it said it was never purchased. At our shower we got 3!!

  • Nah, don't get nervous until like an hour before, I bet they just haven't gone out yet. I have a ashower this coming Saturday and I plan on going out that morning to purchase.
  • I bet you're going to get a lot of giftcards for the places you register for...that happened with a coworker of mine that had twins.
