What do you consider walking

My lo has been taking one or two steps at a time now for a couple weeks, which means around 9months old. Today she took 8 in a row and tackled her brother. I finally got that one on camera. But when do you write down in her book? Those first iffy steps or once she is actually walking?

I always called that stepping. What I wrote down as walking, is when they were walking more than crawling. I had 1 stepping and walking at 7 months and fully running by 8 months (and at 7, he still hasn't stopped running and he was my 34 weeker). I had one stepping and walking at 8 months, 3 stepping at 9.5 months and walking at 10 months. This dude is almost 10 months old and not stepping and I'm celebrating ;) I'm really hoping we get to his first birthday before he does, but everyone keeps laughing at that notion and said within a month.

I don't think there is a wrong or right way. That's just how I've always put it with my other 5. Sounds  like she's on the move! Get your running shoes on Momma! Weeee!

  • I consider those first steps as well. When LO is walking to get from here to there without encouragement on a regular basis then I consider him to be walking.
  • Btw how funny she tackled her brother!! My #5 one day stood up and took 5 steps out of nowhere (never had stepped before) and tackled the cat!
  • I considered "first step(s)" and walking as two different milestones.
