  • @JDMRS Your story gives me hope! God help us if I have spotting this pregnancy. That was the start of my MMC, and everyone was saying spotting does not usually indicate a concern. (Which I get on a rational level but I'm going to go into full panic mode if/when it does happen.) I also love Now & Then! So many great nostalgic moments with Devon Sawa.

    1. How far along are you? 3 weeks, 6 days

    2. Next milestone you're looking forward to? Seeing the lines darken. They slowly but surely are, FWIW, and my BBT is still up. This is especially important to me since AF is due tomorrow. I'm pretty much taking it day by day this time around and really trying to enjoy each day I'm KU!

    3. Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: My parents and 2 closest friends that I have told are really excited for us. DH, however, doesn't want to tell his parents yet because he doesn't want to "get them worried." Last night, he even said he stated that his parents felt they were told too early the first time around. (Note: This is his perception; they've never actually said this.) I lost my pregnancy right around the end of the first tri. We'd had a successful 8-week check-up complete with an ultrasound pic to bring home. When the hell were we supposed to tell? When I started showing?! Anyway, I got upset at him and he did say it's something to celebrate, but I'm still a little peeved. I told him I'd tell them when I've started crowning. :expressionless:

    4. GTKY: Favorite Summertime movie? Dirty Dancing
  • Hi ladies! Happy 4th!
@JDMRS (sorry my actual tag won't show up for some reason so not sure you'll see this) I am glad everything turned out okay that must have been very scary!
@dubcompanion we are not telling my in laws yet either. The difference is that my MIL flat out told me last time I told her too early. They were not very nice about our loss either so I plan to withhold as long as I can. My husband agrees. Not that they won't be excited for a grandchild, but the less they know right now the better. Hopefully your DH  will come around if you want to tell them sooner rather than later!

    1. How far along are you? 5weeks 0days

    2. Next milestone you're looking forward to? My beta tomorrow.

    3. Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: I am sooo nervous that my numbers aren't doubling. I have symptoms but my boobs don't hurt at all and for some reason I am really fixated on this and worried :(

    4. GTKY: Favorite Summertime movie? Since you posted "now and then" I cannot get it out of my head! I second that.

  • 1) 5 weeks, 2 days

    2) passed one milestone this week, I made it past 5 weeks, 6 days.  I have an ultrasound next week.  I'm looking forward to it, but I'm also terrified.

    3) rant:  I think morning sickness is slowly, but surely making itself known.  I know I shouldn't complain, because there are a lot of women who would love to be in my shoes, MS and all, I just hate feeling nauseated.

4). Not really a big movie watcher

    1. How far along are you? 4 weeks 5 days...found out I was KU 1 week ago!

    2. Next milestone you're looking forward to? I see the OB nurse next Wednesday and get bloodwork done. I think if I get past 7w4d (that's when my baby passed but didn't find out until 9w2d) I'll be better. I just want to see it and know everything is where it should be.

    3. Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: I keep trying to remember how I felt at different points last time in regards to symptoms which I shouldn't be doing because 1) every pregnancy is different and 2) even though I have symptoms doesn't mean everything is fine...I had a mmc which messes up my mind too. So far just a little tired, boobs hurt on/off and increased discharge which makes me think I'm bleeding every 5 minutes.

I survived my friends party and don't think anyone suspected anything. My pregnant co worker was there which in the past had been triggering for me but now that I'm pregnant again I felt better. She's 22 weeks and I hope I'll make it that far :)

    4. GTKY: Favorite Summertime movie? Independence Day...I haven't seen the new one because I heard it was awful.
  • @irishrose54 Good luck on your betas tomorrow!! My boobs haven't been really sore either, which was a major symptom last time around. I'm noticing my nipples are starting to get sore though... That's always fun... But perhaps because we've been through the beginning of pregnancy before, super sore boobs will come a little later, since the body's used to this stage (if that makes sense). Since you're exhibiting other symptoms, that's still a positive.

@dubcompanion hahaha at telling the in laws once you start crowning. I swore my mom to secrecy. My dad doesn't even know but he has a big mouth and can't keep a secret. DH also doesn't want to tell his parents yet. I also had horrible boob pain last time. This time they are huge again but not as sore but holy crap are my nipples sore. I told DH if felt almost like rug burn on my nipples...

    @irishrose54  FX for good betas!

@PattersRN I am starting to get some morning sickness too! I did some bargaining with myself before this pregnancy and promised to be happy if I get morning sickness but now that I am in it, I am less thrilled.  I saw something on Pinterest that says "I can't eat because I am nauseated. I am nauseated because I can't eat. Well played pregnancy."

@Spartanrd4 I am so glad you are here! I am so glad your pregnant coworker isn't a trigger anymore!
  • 1. How far along are you? 5w2d according to the calculator.

    2. Next milestone you're looking forward to? Looking forward to first Dr. appointment on the 20th.

    3. Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: Waiting for Dr. appointment! Trying so hard to stay calm, and not compare everything to last time. Also struggling with when to start telling people we are expecting. After my MC last year I thought for sure I wanted to tell people right away the next time. Now I'd rather wait until I've seen the Dr., but we see my in-laws a lot and it's hard to keep it to myself!

    4. GTKY: Favorite Summertime movie? Thanks to @JDMRS for reminding me of Now and Then! Definitely that.

  • @JDMRS Yeah, I mentioned my sore nipples to DH and he's like "I've noticed they've gotten darker." Seems too early for that!

For those who are nauseated, I really really hope I'm complaining about that at the next check-in! And I HATE throwing up. Like, I ugly-cry every single time I throw up. Yet I so want that agony this time around. ::crosses fingers for sobbing face-first into my toilet in the near future::
  • JDMRSJDMRS member
@dubcompanion oh me too! I put Farah from teen mom to shame with my ugly-cry post puke.
  • 4 weeks 5 days.

My next goal is to have an awesome beta tomorrow. I already did the math and I need it to be at least 120. I really want like 200.

Rant / Rave:  going to call this random. I'm 100 %  keeping my pregnancy a secret for as long as possible. I'm hoping to hide it until 14-18 weeks.  I do better without people knowing. My mom doesn't know. Nobody.

Had a wild sex dream last night. That's is a usual symptom for me so, it was reassuring.

@dubcompanion I never puked with DS1. I did with DS2. Only people I know who had severe MS had girls!
  • Hi, ladies! Thanks for posting this check in. I am sad we all need this place but I am happy it exists. I have been a part of The Bump before but not in a while, I hope to get to know each of you better over the next few months!

    1. How far along are you?  5ish weeks:)
I will have a better idea on 8/1

    2. Next milestone you're looking forward to? Definitely seeing my OB. He is great at settling my nerves. I started spotting again last night so I'm all Frazzed McDazzed again until further notice.

    3. Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: My HCG numbers were good this week and I am resting on that. I need to seriously tone down my walking but I tend to overestimate my abilities (aka don't want to be a whiner).

    4. GTKY: Favorite Summertime movie? Ever After. So sweet and romantic!

  • @iceandsnowflakes29 FX for a good beta! I'm glad you're still here.

I have one of the biggest mouths when it comes to myself. I can keep others' secrets just fine. But I have a terrible poker face and show emotions very easily. A pregnancy is super hard to hide from those closest to me. And my parents and best friends would be offended if I kept something like that secret anyway. That's just not who I am; it'd be uncharacteristic. But it's understandable to keep things secret. Your baby, your body, your business!
  • For those who are "blessed" to have MS, when did it start?
  • I'm trying to remember but I definitely had dry heaving and slight nausea by 6 weeks. Worst of it was by 9 weeks around the time I found out about my mmc...I was puking right up until I had my D&C. I don't think having ms will make me feel more safe unfortunately :(
  • @Spartanrd4 That must have sucked. I'm so sorry :frowning: The one small bright side of MMCs is that the body itself is operating fine. It can be confusing and even infuriating that it didn't alert us sooner about the loss, but it's just doing what it's supposed to - keep a baby. Like I said though, it's only a smal bright side.
  • For those who are "blessed" to have MS, when did it start?
Well mine started around Thursday, which would be.. 5 weeks 1 day? So 5 weeks, pretty much. But I have read so many other experiences online, of people without MS for any of the 9 months, or with only MS up to week 8, only MS after week 8, or up to 12, after 12, etc.... so I think it's too unpredictable to know if you'll get it or how long it will last.
I have also anecdotally heard that it could be related to your mom's experience, and my mom was sick with all of her pregnancies, so I do feel better being sick this time.

@dubcompanion I never thought about it that way...that my body was just trying to do what it's supposed to do. I felt betrayed and tricked at the time of course but I can only hope things will be different this time and the baby it's keeping will be healthy :)
  • JDMRSJDMRS member
@dubcompanion I've been nauseated for about a week and yesteday I puked. Last time I was a little nauseous but nothing compared to this go around.
  • I forgot the  GTKY,  I second Ever After.
  • Thanks for the info, guys! I know your experience and even my previous experience has no bearing on this one. I was just curious.

@EnglishTeacherMama I've heard of that anecdote too. Unfortunately, I don't know my bio mom since I'm adopted. Everything's unknown! But that's not always a bad thing either. No preconceptions.

That's how I felt after my mmc. Hugs, mama. I hope this pregnancy is long and boring for you and babe:)

    1. 5w6d

    2. 7w1d - that's when our first baby stopped growing. We had gone in for our first ultrasound just shy of 9weeks. My appointment this pregnancy is scheduled for 7/13, when I am expected to be 7w1d. I am hoping for a good first appointment this time. FX

    3. This exhaustion is killing me. I'm falling behind at work so I was so happy to have this extra day off to catch up, but I can't get myself to get my work done.

    4. I second @EnglishTeacherMama with The Sandlot! My 2nd favorite is Now and Then

  • Happy Independence Day!

    1. How far along are you? 5w4d

    2. Next milestone you're looking forward to?
2nd trimester so I can stop feeling so scared about possible miscarriage

    3. Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: I had a dream that I was carrying multiples. More like a nightmare because I don't think I'm ready for all that lol so we shall see at first ultrasound. I've been having very vivid dreams since I've gotten pregnant.

    4. GTKY: Favorite Summertime movie? I don't know if it's considered a summertime movie but Coming to America.

  • 1. How far along are you? 5W 3D

    2. Next milestone you're looking forward to? U/S 7/25

    3. Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: Rant: Upset my doc won't consider seeing me before 8 weeks, I just want to ease my nerves, my MMC was discovered at my first U/S which was at 10W, or at least do some blood work, anything to appease me so I don't have to freak out at every little twinge I feel in my stomach for the next 3 weeks!

    4. GTKY: Favorite Summertime movie? Grease, favorite movie of all time!!!
  • 1. How far along are you? 6w1d (so technically, a 2/27 due date)

    2. Next milestone you're looking forward to? My dr. is letting me have an extra U/S at 8 weeks to ensure everything is on track.  Last time I had a MMC between weeks 6 and 7, so it's going to be a huge sigh of relief if everything is ok at that appointment.

    3. Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes: Is it weird that I'm totally OK with MS, since I didn't have any with the pregnancy that I lost?  It's like a sign that everything is ok!

    4. GTKY: Favorite Summertime movie? Ooo.. good question -- A League of Their Own always reminds me of playing softball in the summer.

@dubcompanion - I'm sorry you're going through that.  Husband and I are having a hard time deciding when to tell our families this time around.

@Spartanrd4 - MMC and still had MS??  That sucks and seems like the ultimate in unfair.

@Nursegalqc - I hear you!  That sounds super frustrating and I'd be a nervous wreck if I were you.

  • 1. How far along are you?  4 weeks 5 days today

    2. Next milestone you're looking forward to?  Probably my first doctor visit and ultrasound at the end of July.  The last time I mc at 4 weeks 4 days, so never got to have an ultrasound.  Today was a mini milestone too, in a way, making it past 4 w 4 days.

    3. Rant/Rave/Positive Vibes:  It may sound strange, but I find my symptoms really comforting.  My boobs have been sore all day every day, and when I start to worry I give one a grab and tell myself "See?  Still sore!  Everything's okay!"  Is that weird or what? Pretty sure someone saw me do that at a red light yesterday, lol.  Today was the first day I felt really nauseous, and even though that sucks, I am really grateful for it.  DH is very reassuring too -- he's very laid back and I'm very anxious, so he is good at calming my fears.

    4. GTKY: Favorite Summertime movie?  Probably Dazed and Confused!  Classic!

@dubcompanion We're having the same issue, except DH wants to tell everyone, and I want to tell no one.  He's all "What's the big deal? It's exciting!"  But I just want to keep it between us now -- feels safer somehow.  I'll probably come around as we reach more milestones, and hopefully your honey will too!
  • @Tennis11785 @ErinSmith125 Thanks guys  DH seems to be getting more confident each day (probably helps that he's noticing symptoms too) and has decided to tell his parents at the Iowa Cubs baseball game tomorrow. He's a private person, and I do respect that. But if we another loss, I don't want them finding out about my second pregnancy to be in grief. I want them to be able to enjoy the news for however long it lasts. This would be their first grandchild.

Also - I have felt queasy all day, and I'm finding it strangely comforting too. Pregnancy symptoms in general are helping me feel more at ease!
  • I admire everyone telling now. I'm just too damn chicken. My MIL  said the worst things during a previous loss. And during my last and most recent loss my mother made it very clear that she did not support me ttc because she thinks my "body can't handle pregnancy" and she doesn't want me to "put myself through more losses". So, I would rather have no support because they don't know I'm pregnant than have no support because they're both bitches. Well, MIL would be thrilled if I make it far enough, it is only if I lose it then she makes the rude comments.

So right now the plan is to hide it as long as possible for my sanity and then send my mom an email.  :|   DH thinks I'm nuts :D
  • I will be hiding mines for as long as possible as well
  • JDMRSJDMRS member
@iceandsnowflakes29 I'm sorry your MIL is so heinous! I guess I am lucky in that MIL also had a loss between DH and his younger sister and was very kind to me. It is unconscionable that your own mother would be so unkind to you.

  • edited July 2016
@dubcompanion I will look that bad ass after sending the email :p  She will probably  (hopefully) warm to the idea but, she saw me really fall apart after my loss and I think she just would hate to see it again.

She was one and done after me so, We have a big difference in ideal family size, obviously.

I just look at it at this way - I have nothing to lose that I haven't lost before :)

Eta maybe you ladies can help me compose it when  the time comes.
  • @iceandsnowflakes29 I think an email written by a bunch of hormone-raging pregnant women would be BOSS! In all seriousness, I'll definitely help!! I like to write.  B)

Some parents think the "tough love" route is the way to go. It arguably has its uses, but not and never in this instance. This is definitely not the way to handle a daughter's repeat miscarriages. That's like saying, "Why do you keep getting pets if you're always going to outlive them?" But 1000x worse and more insensitive.

I also like your outlook of not having lost anything you didn't lose before. It's on par with my outlook of TTC (And TTCAL): Let it never be said that I didn't give it my all.
  • @iceandsnowflakes29 I'm sorry your mom and MIL weren't supportive!

I am way too chicken to tell anyone yet also. After my loss I was so sure that with this pregnancy I would want to tell people right away, but that hasn't been the case. We're planning to share the news at a family camping trip with both of our parents, which is about a week after my first Dr. appt.
