Fireworks

Thinking about going to the town fireworks tomorrow night and I don't know what to do with the baby.  I don't remember going with my others until they were much older, but now we want to go as a family and I have no one to watch the little.  Other than cotton, what else can I do to protect her little ears?  Thanks.

This weirdly didn't post what I wrote.. I didn't know ear covers were really necessary. I kind of figured with public fireworks shows it wouldn't be loud enough to be an issue. Am I wrong?!

  • I took DD her first time when she was 10 months. & the boys turned 10 months today & we took them today & they loved it. going to take them again tomorrow for the actual day.(my kids have been exposed to loud noises since they were tiny so theyre used to it)

I think the cotton should be good, but i think your LO will be fine. Unless your going to like a football/baseball stadium to watch fireworks then i can see it being a problem.
  • I went once without earplugs and my mom brought them the next day. He did fine either way, I don't think it would have hurt his ears that much, they didn't scare him at all
  • I will use these for my LO. A little pricey but we live on a farm so we get some use out of them.
  • I went with just my 3.5yo, and we watched from further back, so it wasn't very loud.

If we were in the main viewing area and I brought LO, I'd use baby banz. Just not worth hearing damage. Hubby has significant hearing loss from jobs when he was younger (bartender during concerts, construction). He's a pilot now and could lose his licence if it worsens, so we're very aware of decibel level, and we all use ear protection as needed.

  • We're skipping the fireworks because I'm pretty sure she would get overtired and scream and we would all be miserable. Plus the crowds. In our area, there's not anything you can do to avoid them and parking and traffic is miserable. There will be plenty of time for fireworks.

    We are using these also!
  • Well, I was going to just do cotton but it rained so our fireworks went off early, before we left our house.  We're only a few blocks from the HS so we watched them from our backyard instead and DD loved them.
