Can transvaginal ultrasound miss baby?

I had a transvaginal ultrasound done which showed me measuring 6 weeks 1 day, but the baby didn't have a heartbeat. The following two days I had heavy bleeding with clots. Had a repeat UTS 5 days later to confirm and there was no baby, so I passed it. However my OB's office and I have been playing phone tag so I'm hoping to speak to them Tuesday - just racking my brain wondering why they'd be trying to reach me??? Any thoughts?

    They could be calling to check in with you. There have been some instances where an office asks you back in to do another check to make sure it all has passed.

    My doc called a few days after my loss to check in on me.  They may also want to do bloodwork to confirm you hcg levels go back to zero.  I'm very sorry for your loss.

    This is almost identical to how my MC was.  I'm sorry for ur loss, and ur doc is most likely checking on you and wants to make sure all of the products of conception have passed (because if they haven't, then you can get an infection).
     Again, so sorry for ur loss :-(

    HMMM SWEETHEART I FEEL YOUR PAIN, I WENT FOR A TRANS-VAGINAL WITH MY CURRENT 6 WEEK FETUS WHEN I WAS ROUGHLY FOUR WEEKS. THEY THOUGHT I WAS 10 WEEKS BECAUSE THEY HAD THE WRONG INFORMATION AND TOLD ME I HAD NO BABY EITHER. EMOTIONAL ROLLER COASTER. I HADN'T BLED AND MY SYMPTOMS WERE STRONG, THEY WERE SO RUDE. I AM NOW WAITING FOR 8 TO 10 WEEKS PRIOR TO MY INITIAL APPOINTMENT. MY ANSWER IS PERHAPS MY LOV

    I'm so sorry, this is almost exactly what happened to me.  They could just be calling to follow up and see how you feel.  Mine did that, if I remember correctly.
