Anyone had a cold/flu during pregnancy?

I have a cold and it has just knocked me out. I can't remember the last time I was sick during the summer but I guess that's due to our suppressed immune system.

Re: Anyone had a cold/flu during pregnancy?

  • I had a pretty bad cold that lasted almost 3 weeks. Normally, 2-3 days and I'm fine. The only thing that helped was lots of herbal tea, steam showers, rest and a humidifier in the bedroom at night. Being sick is miserable, good luck!

  • I had the flu for the first time in my life my last pregnancy a year ago.. I was basically told "Tylenol and rest." It was a VERY busy time so I couldn't just stay at home and rest but I literally slept whenever I could wherever I was at. Sleep cures all, especially when pregnant!
  • I've been getting head colds consistently for the past two months since DS started daycare. I'm so beyond over it and I can't wait until both of our immune systems build up against this stuff.
  • I had the flu at around 4 weeks. If you do have the flu go to your doctor immediately and get on Tamiflu. The body aches went away within 24 hours of taking it and that was the worst part. Other than that I echo PP, Tylenol for fevers, plenty of fluids and rest.
  • YES! Colds make you feel bad not pregnant, but being pregnant AND a cold has been awful!! Mine lasted a week and regular Mucinex with only (an ingredient that behind with G) in it helped during the day and Benadryl at night. My dr approved both. Steam showers helped temporarily. My biggest struggle was the fact that I couldn't breathe so I couldn't sleep!! Today I'm finally feeling better but still lacking energy!
