Hi all!
I just wanted to check in to see who is still nursing their LO so I don't feel so alone. I'm trying to go with LO on this so I'm doing don't offer, don't refuse pretty much. I do say no when we are out and about and offer her water in her sippy (still doesn't like cow's milk) or a snack. Sometimes she's wanting to be on the boob constantly so I try to redirect her. She almost seems like she's clusterfeeding again trying to get all her mommy milk before and after work and won't drink much while I'm away. I guess she never really has though. She nurses to sleep quite often as well. I don't mind her nursing for comfort to an extent and I know she is still young but sometimes I worry I'm going to be ready to stop and she's just going to keep on going. I pump once a day at work still so she has some milk to drink while I'm away but some days I don't produce much at all and my freezer stash is almost gone. I still worry she's going to want breastmilk and I won't have any for her but I guess we don't get everything we want in life either do we? Anyone relate on any of this?
Re: Moms who are still nursing
I just introduced cows milk today, he took a few sips then was done. I'm just letting him wean as he wants and adding in milk. He drinks water really well, so it will really be replacing some of that at first.
Congrats on on making it this far!
I have stopped pumping, and want to nurse as long as he wants to (will reevaluate that if I'm over it or when he turns 2). I don't have a freezer stash - he drinks water or cow's milk or almond milk when he's not with me. I also offer water throughout the day (but if he asks to nurse, we nurse or wait - no water instead of nursing), and he drinks cow/almond milk a few times a day. Not much - less than 5 ounces probably. We aren't schedule/structured people, but there's a consistency in all this.
@ciennah99 I'd say if you want to keep nursing but are feeling done...if it were me, I'd stop pumping at work and let her drink other milk when you're not around. That seems to be a good balance of meeting both your and her needs. But that's just what works for us, and I know everyone's different. Good luck! You're doing a great job!
