Brain Fog

Anyone else feeling weird or like they are "in a fog"? I just don't feel like myself mentally. I feel mentally slower, like I don't talk the same or something and it's driving me crazy. I never feel clear headed. Like I'm going through my days in autopilot. Wtf is this? Does it go away? I'm about to get a Drs apt and maybe a psych eval. Lol. But seriously anyone else?

Re: Brain Fog

  • Yep, totally normal. It's the sleep deprivation and hormones. And if you BF you produce more melatonin so you get extra sleepy. In Norway we call it ammetåke = nursing fog. It usually lightens up gradually as baby sleeps longer stretches and when feedings spaces out. Hang in there!

  • Thank you for the info
  • Agh my message got cut off. But I was trying to say I don't BF and my baby sleeps 10 hours a night. I'm wondering if taking BC pills would help even things out?
  • Wow, 10 hours straight already?!? Nice! I don't know if BC-pills would help, but maybe ask your doc. I've also read somewhere that your brain is wired to focus on the voice of your child(ren) and tune out other sounds. Making it hard to focus on your own thought process or for example an adult conversation. Can't really remember where I read this so don't hold me to it, however I often find it to be true though...  Hope you soon feel more normal again
  • I'm definitely lucky and grateful she sleeps through the night. She has been doing that for over a month. She typically does 10, sometimes it's 9, last night she did 11 but her naps were terrible that day. I guess I'll just have to wait this out and hope it goes away very soon
