Hey ladies. I do not post/ comment very often but I am hoping you ladies could put my mind at ease. I am 35 weeks and 1 day and my baby is still in a breech position. I had my doctor's appt yesterday and my doctor felt around and says she still thinks he is breech, I have an U/S on Tuesday to confirm. My question for you ladies is, have you had experience with this and when should I begin to freak out. I've heard many babies will wait until the last minute to turn, but my doctor says she would schedule a cesarean at 39 weeks if baby hasn't turn by around 38 weeks. She also said we could discuss doing a ECV but I have a less than 50% chance of it working because this is my first baby so my uterus may be too tight. I also don't know if its worth possibly having to do an emergency cesarean any ways. At this point I'm hoping he flips on his own and I don't have to worry but you never know. I also was going to do some at home exercises but I didn't want to do any yet, until we know for sure he is still breech. Sorry I know this was a long post.

Thank you all for any advice you have!!
Re: Flip baby, flip!!
We have an US at 36 weeks to see how he is.
@msdidonato
This little stinker was head down at 30 weeks and then flipped to breech at 31 and stayed that way haha. He is just a little confused. Hope everything goes well for you!!
Now, it could be the babies turn naturally and water aerobics had nothing to do with it. But I would try if my baby was breech.

Spinningbabies.com has been a great resource for me. My baby was always head down then the past two ultrasounds showed him/her to be frank breech. As of Tuesday, my Dr. think baby's flipped, but I won't have another ultrasound until July 6 to confirm. Spinningbabies has a "flip a breech" page that I used for about a week until I thought baby flipped. Now I use the daily/weekly activities page to encourage baby to stay head down and get into good position for birth. I'm 36 wks today.
My neighbor has 4 kids and two of them were breech until very close to the end. With the first breech baby, she actually went in for an appointment where they were going to try to flip the baby (not sure what that procedure is called) and when she arrived, they realized he had flipped on his own, and that was at around 37-38 weeks. Her second breech baby just kept flipping back and forth but ended up head down a little after 36 weeks (that one was born early at around 37 wks).
I don't know the statistics around how often babies flip after certain points in pregnancy, but if it can happen to her (twice!) then I don't see how it couldn't happen to others.
Thank you!!!
Definitely check out spinningbabies.com. They have a few exercises that you should only do if you're certain baby is breech, but there are other things all pregnant woman can do to help the baby get to the optimal birthing position. They feel good on my back anyway, so I'm still doing the daily exercises.
My backup plan was to go to a chiropractor for the Webster technique. It has a higher success rate than the ECV (I think around 80%) but I'm not sure when you need to do it. I think the earlier, the better.
Otherwise, my doctor said most of her patients don't do ECV anymore because of the low success rate. Only 3% of babies are breech by the time the woman goes into labor, so it's actually a pretty rare thing. Most babies will flip on their own. Good luck!!
Good luck and hopefully something will work for you!
to find out I had a little septum that was preventing him from being able to flip. So in response to your question, don't freak out. Just accept that a c-section is not the worst thing in the world and if baby flips, great. If not, that's ok because you have the option of a c-section. Imagine if you lived somewhere where you couldn't get to adequate medical care and have a safe section. Just trust your doc and I hope everything goes smoothly for you.
