so.... Not baby related but we can talk about something else....

for those who listened to season one of serial.... I'm sure you've seen Adnan was granted a new trial today.... What are your thoughts? I'd post on my Facebook but my cousin actually went to H/S and played soccer with Hae so I don't want to post about it and upset her.... I'm kinda curious, if he's convincted again do you think his sentence starts over? I'm not sure what I think of him... I think if it wasn't him there's a lot of bad luck.... But I could also see him being involved and having not done it. I definely think there's more to what him and his friend were up to that day.

I listened to season one. I am happy that he got a new trial. I'm not sure if I have an opinion on whether he's guilty or not but it does seem like his lawyer missed some key pieces. I enjoyed season one much more than season two.

If he's convicted again, there would be a sentencing hearing, but I am sure the judge would take into consideration his time served.

The new trial will be interesting because the prosecution's entire theory of the case is going to need to change now. Presumably, the defense will present Asia as an alibi witness, and I'd have to imagine they will move to suppress the cell phone tower evidence/testimony as unreliable and inadmissible. Even if they lose that motion, the defense is going to hammer the cell tower theory as unreliable and argue it cannot pin point the defendant as being in the park. If I remember correctly, it was later determined that all the cell tower evidence could effectively prove was that a person WASN'T some place - not that he or she WAS in a particular place. Meaning, the cell tower evidence can't prove he was in the park.

I left the season feeling like he could be innocent but he could also be guilty. No matter what I believe he didn't get a fair trial though and I am happy to hear he is getting a new one, hopefully this time he will be defended better!

My feelings frequently change, but I tend to lean toward guilty. Regardless of how I feel though, I agree that he deserved a new trial. He had an ineffective lawyer and unreliable evidence presented against him. Even with these factors, I still believe there was reasonable doubt. I don't think I could have convicted him if I was on the jury.

Also Season Two was painfully boring. I tuned out so much near the end. This could make for an exciting Season Three though!

I listened to season one and I'm happy that he got a new trial. I still can't decide whether or not I believe he's guilty however, I do believe that his representation did a horrible job with his case. He at least deserves a fair trial so I'm interested in seeing the outcome.

I was obsessed with Adnan's case! I loved season one of Serial. I think he's innocent, so I am psyched he's getting a new trial!

i need to listen to season 1 so I can figure out what everyone is talking about. I listened to season 2 which i found fascinating since we are a military family.

I'm really glad he got another trial. I loved S1 of Serial. I also think that he is innocent. It will be really interesting to see how it all pans out.

Seeeeee I think that booger knows something. I don't know if he did it but it seems like a lot of awfully bad luck if he is innocent. He and jay were definitely up to something that day....

and i I agree season 2 was kind of boring to me...

I am so glad he's getting a new trial. After listening to Serial I was really on the fence if he was guilty or not, but after listening to the Undisclosed podcast, I'm convinced he's innocent. They go into so much further detail of the case and cover stuff that wasn't even touched in Serial. I think Hae's boyfriend Don has something to do with it. All the lies around his falsified timesheets to provide his alibi, along with what he said to Sarah Koenig in Serial, it sounds so fishy. He said that once that Had went missing he thought the police would assume he had done it, but at that point nobody knew that she was dead, so what exactly was he afraid of being blamed for?
Anyways I hope he walks away a free man.
@emilym2012, did your cousin ever say anything about Adnan or if she thought he did it?

@awknyc no she's actually a few years older than me and I guess I was a bit too young to know what was going on at the time. I didn't really know she knew anything about it until the year it came out as serial - she posted a status about how she was just driving home from work one night and heard the podcast and all the pieces fell into place that this was the story about what had happened to her friend, she said she just sat there in her car and cried. Her sister knew her too as hae was between them in age and they all played soccer. So I just have always made a point to not bring it up on Facebook bc I don't know what she thinks but I'm sure she doesn't think that going through this all over again is fun for anyone.

@awknyc so fortunately she doesn't post a lot so I went back and found the status I can't really tell what she or anyone else think. There was one comment that said something like, what really now, about the boy whose been in jail for 15 years even though there was no evidence? And she said something along the lines of RIGHT. And then she said the worst part was all the controversy and how it tore friendships apart. So, I guess there's that.

@susykat77 yes that is the name of the podcast. It's hosted by Rabia and Susan Simpson, she is the crazy mastermind that has investigated the crap out of Adnan's case. Serial was so good, but it really shows you a lot of the stuff Sarah Koenig missed.

I was super stoked to see he was granted a new trial. I think he's innocent and I think Don did it. I listened to Serial, Undisclosed and Truth & Justice, and I am convinced he's innocent.

If you're interested in Serial Season 1 and want to know more Undisclosed is a must listen!!! Just be aware that it is very long, detailed and over the top thorough. After listening to it, I without a doubt think Adnan is innocent. Part of what Susan discovered while investigating for the podcast is PRIMARILY why Adnan is now vacated (aka innocent until proven guilty) and there will be a re-trail. Undisclosed taught me a lot about our justice system and the major flaws within it. #freeadnan

oh boy I have to start the undisclosed podcasts right now.. after listening to serial I am on the fence. It would be nice to dive deeper into things. My husband and I actually started writing everything down and keep a timeline of who, what, when, and where.

I loved Serial because I felt like it presented a mostly unbiased view. I was able to come to my own conclusions after listening to the whole season. Personally, I felt like Undisclosed was overwhelmingly biased. The whole podcast is focused on proving Adnan is innocent. I tried to listen because I wanted more information on the case, but I felt like excessive information was being forced on me in short periods of time. I wasn't a fan.

So, I'm confused. I totally thought Serial was A Netflix show? Is this another case they took on or am I thinking of the same case? Never saw/heard either.

You're thinking of "Making a Murderer," and that was an excellent Netflix series as well. Serial is just a podcast about Adnan Syed. Making a Murder is about Stephen Avery.

I also wanna add for all of you True Crime fans -- I just recently started listening to 2 new podcasts, and I love them. They're My Favorite Murder (2 women talk about a murder of their choice every week) and Sword and Scale (he picks a 2 or 3 crimes every week and goes into detail about them along with sound clips from the trial or 911 calls). They're all so fascinating, and I end up researching each story on Google after I hear about them.

@emilyn2012 Maybe? I wouldn't have been able to listen to Serial while at work and actually been able to absorb it. So you could be okay.

@wpowell I think Undisclosed even has a website that maps some timeline stuff out along with other details in regards to the case. I haven't referenced that though.

@awknyc thank you for posting about Undisclosed! My friend and I at work LOVED Serial and talked about the case a lot. We both think that he is innocent. I just told her about undisclosed so we jumped on board today and began listening.
