Fit Mommies

Hi All!

I hope your week is going well. I don't know about you but I'm trying to shed the weight I was trying to get rid of before I found out I was pregnant. All the baby weight is gone so I can't blame it on the pregnancy. LOL. My dad bought me a Fit Bit and I'm using it to be motivated to move. Do any of you ladies have one? If so, I'd like to add you or you add me so we can motivate each other :)

Have you accomplished any of your fitness goals 6/7 months post?

Re: Fit Mommies

  • No :( I've been busting my bum working out and eating pretty healthy and the scale won't budge..I'm not looking forward to this summer. I don't have a Fitbit but I am on mapmyrun and my fitness pal if you use those.

  • @trishee13 Every little bit counts! And the fact that you're watching what you eat is great. I've noticed I started losing inches before pounds. I watch my portions, eat more things with fiber so I can stay full longer and do moderate exercise. Don't push yourself too hard so you don't get burnt out. I have myfitnesspal, too. I'll send you my name.

Are you guys breastfeeding? Some of my friends swear that they can't lose weight no matter what they do bc they are breastfeeding.
  • @FatPony seriously. I feel more hungry EP'ing, than when I was pregnant.

Props to you ladies for busting your butts !! DH and I have started walking and it's helped so much.

I need to look into this Fitbit you speak of !

I am in the exact same boat!!! I love my fit bit! My problem is find extra time to do a real work out :( i do well for a few days then something gets in the way and i fall off.
  • I'm not breastfeeding.. But I have an appetite like I am!!  ;)

I am running on my lunch breaks and ran a 5k race with my niece. However, struggling to not eat everything in sight. Breastfeeding has made me more hungry than I've ever been.

Using Nike running app on my iPhone/Apple Watch.
  • @FatPony I've heard contrary: they lose weight quicker because they're breastfeeding. I do have one friend who is BF but she said she's plateaued.

  • @KristynLee15 I felt the same at first. But I set alarms now if I get carried away doing other things. Just do 10/15 minutes of exercise in between tasks. Or see when you have the most down time (mine is early am) and get 30 minutes in. You don't need an hour or more like some people suggest.

I just finished breastfeeding 2 weeks ago and I've noticed a significant decrease in appetite and I've lost 2 lbs. The weight loss is probably milk drying up and I'm able to control my portions.  I'm not craving sweets anymore, which I was during pregnancy and throughout breastfeeding.  Now I'm looking forward to counting calories and working out more to lose the rest of the weight/gain some muscle back.

I had no problem dropping the baby weight before I started working out (I had a c-section) and I actually thought breastfeeding played a huge role. I was burning so many calories and was eating everything. I'm running a 3.5 mile race next week so I've been doing some running but I've been mainly focusing on rebuilding my muscle mass with heavy weight lifting - close to being back to my max on all my lifts!

ETA: I am still breastfeeding and feeling like I'm in better shape than I've been since my pregnancy.

Im so jealous!! Good for you mama!! I just cant seem to find the time to fit everything i need to do in one day so unfortunately exercise fall off.

@KristynLee15 oh yeah, I totally feel like there aren't enough hours in the day. I try not to stress about it. There are some classes I used to go to that don't fit into our schedule anymore. Some weeks we can only get to the gym once - we aim for 3 but with work, it's tough. Spending enough time with LO is my main priority. He goes to bed at 7pm so I've actually been going to the gym for a quick workout after he's asleep.

Gonna test out the jogging stroller this weekend! I heard it's great resistance training.

We bought a hideously expensive chariot. And I looooooove it. Jogging and biking attachments. Yesterday I did 22 kms biking and H was so mellow. I love summer

I lost a ton of weight from breastfeeding. In fact, I weigh less now than I have in 8 years. It's really weird. I'm not complaining though, although now I'm scared to stop BFing LOL. Other than that, I need to tone up, desperately! What two kids in 5 years does to your belly and hips are awful. Trying to get out more and swim and walk with the kiddos.

I actually couldn't lose weight while bf'ing- once I stopped a month ago, I shed 10 lbs almost immediately. Now I just have the last 5lbs to get back to my pre-pregnancy weight.
