Abdominal pain

I am 7 weeks today.  Been having pretty strong abdominal pain. Doesn't really feel like cramping more of just a sharp pain. No sporting or bleeding. Should I be worried or is this normal?

  • Can be pretty normal. What part of your abdomen?

  • The word "pain" stands out to me.  Can you describe it in more detail?  You say it's not a cramp, but a sharp pain - does it feel like a stinging, a stretching, a stabbing, or a pulling?  Is it consistent, or intermittent?  As PP asked, where is it located?  Is it one-sided, central, upper, lower, etc?  The type and location of discomfort can tell you a lot.

Most discomfort in early pregnancy is pretty normal.  It could be gas/constipation (seriously... I've never had such bad gas pains in my life).  It could be a UTI, it could be your organs shifting/stretching, it could be a corpus luteum cyst... we're a bit early for RLP, if I'm not mistaken, but I guess that's not totally out of the realm of possibility, either.

If you're really worried, do not be afraid to call your OB!  Hope you feel better soon.

  • I honestly get some of the worst gas pains, I think it's pretty normal. It doesn't feel like gas pains because they are so intense but it always ends up being relieved. Just drink some water and lay down.

If you are ever worried you can always phone your OB
