So now that DH and I are going to be embarking on this journey, I am wondering if I should start, stop certain supplements.
Right now I am taking CoQ10, DHEA 75mg, Vitamin D, Melatonin, and my Prenantal vitamin.
Any suggestions, or should I nix any? Im convinced the DHEA is making me break out like crazy and I have read conflicting stuff about it, in terms of IVF.
Also any other tips or tricks would be great! I like to prepare and feel like right now is the best time to do it
Thanks

i would reco reading the book It Starts With the Egg. I found it a quick easy read and it goes through what to take and not take based on scientific research. I'm getting ready for IVF and taking a prenatal (with active form folate, not folic acid), Coq10 (again the active form, which is more expensive but they have it at Costco!) and vitamin D. My accupuncturist also specializes in infertility (just had twins from IVF herself actually) and is going to give me a reco diet too. I'll try to share once I get it!

For the acne, Clearsil in the tube works great! You might also consider decreasing it to 50 mg. I did that and have stopped breaking out. I may try to increase it back to 75 mg to see if I break out again. Also, my AMH level increased from 1.1 in July 2015 to 1.9 in May 2016. I only took the supplements and did acupuncture with Chinese herbs for 6 weeks before the retest. I don't know that this really changes anything but just wanted to let you know.

@dragonfaerie I have to look back at It Starts with the Egg, that's where I got melatonin from.
Here is a little blurb about melatonin:
"Poor egg quality is one of the causes of infertility in women and up to now there has been no treatment available to help this condition. However it seems that melatonin may now be able to do the trick. Apparently melatonin helps to improve the quality of the egg by reducing the level of an oxidizing agent called 8-OHdG in the egg. Researchers found that women taking 3mg of melatonin before their next IVF cycle had 50% of their eggs becoming fertilized compared to less than 23% of the eggs of the control group. Following embryo transfer, 19% of the women taking the melatonin became pregnant compared to just over 10% of the women who didn't take it."

Be prepared for the med delivery. It is extremely overwhelming to see that many meds. Also, I am not sure if you did injections for your IUI's but honestly I found that the injections weren't bad at all so don't worry about them! I easily did them for myself. I iced the area before and put heat on after.
Also I did fertility acupuncture and that helped me relax and I think alleviated some of the symptoms I had. I would highly recommend it.
Feel free to message me with any questions

I remember something on the boards last year about taking melatonin while TTC is kind of iffy. I can't remember exactly why or what the posts said, but I stopped using it after I read it. Maybe search the boards for it and see what pops up?
@caseyw8784 I will do that.....I feel like its so tricky thats why I think ive asked a few times. Everyone's body is different, and its kinda like I tell my clients who insist that their case is like their friends case etc etc etc! No 2 cases/people are like although many of us might have similar numbers we are all different. But thanks I am definitely going to start looking for that post.
@chicandbubbly Thank you, my DH did my trigger injections because I was being a big baby, but I have no needed anything else so Im sure I will be overwhelmed. Ive been looking on pinterest and found some good organizational ideas for everything so im going to try some of what I found.

@chicandbubbly- just curious on how often you did acupuncture before retrieval and transfer? My lady has said that trying to get in at least 9-12 sessions before transfer is kind of the magic number, so I am going twice per week for the next four weeks at least, and maybe 1 per week after that. She also comes to the ET day and does accupuncture before and after in the actual transfer room (but that day costs $300). Just wondering what you did, since you had success on your first try! I am enjoying the acupuncture so far, its just a little pricey (~$75/session). I also justify it since she just went through IVF herself, its really just nice to have someone to talk to that gets it, so i'll consider part of the cost unofficial therapy

I would bring up the DHEA concerns with your RE for sure, I was on a very high dose of certain vitamins for both of my FETs (1 successful, 1 not), but I have a whole slew of issues that I'm dealing with too. If you do PIO I highly recommend asking for Synera patches to numb the injection site.
JamieH2000 I didn't go that much. (It was $95 per session so pretty pricey) I went once a week starting a few weeks before stims, twice the week of transfer (day before and day after). My acupuncturist recommends going twice a week during stims but for me it was more stress to try and fit in another appointment when I already had so many. My last one was the week after transfer (last week). Probably in total it was about 8 times?

chicandbubbly - Thanks for the info! That makes a lot of sense. I think I will cut back to once per week once I start all the stims/monitoring as it is so hard to get away from work for all the appts already. Congrats again, and hoping for a great third beta for you!

Hi, ladies!
Hope you’re fine. This is what I took and did/ didn’t do and I really believe this helped. Before my IVF with donor eggs I was to lose some lbs. So that I did diet, just
healthy adequate eating I suppose. And I’ve kept this healthy eating trough all
the process, and surely now as it is. I gave up any type of alcohol and caffeine. I included lots of rice milk,
pineapple juice and Brazil nuts. I also tried not to stress about the procedure which I think was the biggest
factor in it working. Kept myself busy. Also took
folic acid. I ate loads of avocados as once saw a programme on that they are
supposed to help our "ladies bits" - lol. Even now I am taking a multi vitamin! The Biotexcom
clinic we were with made our donor drink 2 liters of water and 1 liter of milk
during stimms. The water helps to ward off OHSS and the milk is high in protein
which is required for egg production and development. She also took Pregnacare
and had acupuncture.

Also I did fertility acupuncture and that helped me relax and I think alleviated some of the symptoms I had. I would highly recommend it.

Back for # 2!
This is what I took and did/ didn’t do and I really believe this helped.
Before my IVF with donor eggs I was to lose some lbs. So that I did diet, just healthy adequate eating I suppose. And I’ve kept this healthy eating trough all the process, and surely now as it is.
I gave up any type of alcohol and caffeine. I included lots of rice milk, pineapple juice and Brazil nuts.
I also tried not to stress about the procedure which I think was the biggest factor in it working. Kept myself busy. Also took folic acid. I ate loads of avocados as once saw a programme on that they are supposed to help our "ladies bits" - lol. Even now I am taking a multi vitamin!
The Biotexcom clinic we were with made our donor drink 2 liters of water and 1 liter of milk during stimms. The water helps to ward off OHSS and the milk is high in protein which is required for egg production and development. She also took Pregnacare and had acupuncture.
