Panorama

Is anyone else considering the panorama genetic test? Has anyone else had it before? Thoughts?

We need to double check with our insurance and my OB how much it will cost. Our insurance wants the billing codes from my OB so they can tell us how much it will cost. I'm not too worried about any genetic abnormalities, but I'd like to be sure of the gender rather than hoping the baby is cooperating at the 20w ultrasound.

Re: Panorama

  • We're getting it done in 3 weeks (I'll be close to 10w). This is my first so no prior experience but my doctor said it shouldn't cost us more than $200.

  • I'm getting it done, it will cost me 450
  • That's about what I'm hoping for. I'm 8w 2d today so I'm hoping to have it done at 10w as well.
  • I had it done last time around and will do it again. Insurance did not cover it but when I called Panorama, they told me to just pay 145 of the bill.
  • I would not do this to find out the sex. It seems really wrong to me to do it only to find out the sex. No offense intended, having the test done doesn't hurt anyone and everyone has a right to pay for the test but it just feels wrong. So many people taking that test are concerned with the health of their baby because they already screened positive in another test, or are in a high risk category.

If this were my pregnancy I would have it done but it is up to the IP. They haven't told me if they want it yet. I am over 35 so I am more at risk of issues and I want to be prepared.

I agree with this. These are very serious tests for so many women, and unfortunately, not everyone gets good news from them. I'm not taking it-it's not covered for me and with our insurance we're already facing high bills-but if I were it would be for the health related information. Learning the sex is only a bonus.
  • My doctor said a lot of times the office will offer a "cash" price for the test, in our office it's $130. I had it done with my last pregnancy.
