It's a GIRL!

We found out recently that baby #2 is a girl. We would have been excited either way, but are thrilled since we already have a little boy, Greyson. The struggle with names is real, though. I am loving older names or surnames while my husband likes either completely common or very uncomon names. We can't seem to agree on anything and are both very stubborn. Any advice on meeting in the middle? Or any names that you like that might work for both styles?

My picks... Penelope, Eloise (could call her Elle), Evelyn, Mabry, Anniston, Vivienne
Hubbies picks... Avery, Brooklyn, Raegan, Kyana, Zaylee

Three things, first   you might get more responses on the name board. Second, print out the top 1000, each of you go through with a highlighter and see what you have in common. Third,  maybe an older style name with a modern/trendy nn would work.  Rosalind nn Roz, Zelda nn Zel, etc.

  • @Bringmemylongswordho is probably right about the name board but I just want to mention that Anniston is actually the name of a town in Alabama that's famous for being the home of the former largest chemical weapons site in the U.S. It's just some food for thought.
  • I probably have an unpopular opinion regarding names, but I figure, since the woman has to push it out, she gets top billing.  That being said, I love the name Avery.  It is on the top of our list for a girl but we CANNOT settle on a middle name.

Avery Kristen after my sister who passed?
    Avery Margaret after my grandma?
Avery Elizabeth to match my middle name?
Avery Grace - but Grace is my nieces name?

I also like Ellie (but I had ruled it out because my BFF named her daughter Elizabeth and calls her Ellie) but I do think you have time - keep saying the names out loud and you'll settle on the perfect name!
  • I vote Avery Elizabeth.
