Any pre-eclampsia survivors here?

My last baby, new husband, was a whirlwind pregnancy! My first three were full term, no issues, "easy peasy". My little guy, I developed severe pre-e at 27+3 and he was born at 27+5. He spent 58 days in the NICU and is now almost 2 (July 12) and is the healthiest, crazy little man!

Ive done a ton of research and spoke with my OB in regards to subsequent pregnancies and although there is somewhat of a risk, there's no telling if/when/ or how bad it could come on.

Wondering if any other mamas have had any experience with pre-E and if you've had it more than once or if you went on to have "normal" pregnancies after?

  • Not pre-e, but with my first I got very sick with HELLP and had an emergency induction. Luckily I was 38 weeks, but heavy pitocin and six hours of active pushing was hell.

I had no issues with my second and I'm hoping that's how this one goes.

  • I had pre-E with my first and have been on a baby aspirin regime since TTC because it's supposed to help combat reoccurrences.

were you induced at 27 weeks or did he come out on his own?
  • @PerraSucia I had to have an emergency c-section because my organs were starting to fail. It came on HARD and FAST! With that being said, they had to do a vertical incision so they won't let me go past 36 weeks now and I have to have a RSC.

Ive read so much about the baby aspirin, my doctor didn't say either way, but it certainly can't hurt!
  • wow that's insane.. i'm so sorry.  I bet you look like a badass.  Man I hope the aspirin works. I've been getting weird dizzy spells and seeing black spots and having flashbacks
  • I was dx with pre-e at 30w last time and went for an emergency c at 34w. I was lucky enough that I had the time to get the steroids and DS only spent 11 days in the NICU. I am terrified of getting pre-e again.  I saw spots while throwing up today and it totally gave me flashbacks.

My aunt had it with her first but had completely healthy, full term babies for her 2nd and 3rd so I'm crossing my fingers for that.
  • I had pre e w my last pregnancy. DD was delivered at 28w(also vertical incision) First 2 kiddos were uneventful pregnancies. Have been doing baby aspirin regimine since before conception. Praying hard that this one goes at least a little better!
