Thoughts on hair? Are you keeping it long? Anyone going short for the delivery? Mine goes to my armpits right now and I can't decide. leave it long so I can pull it back? Or cut it short so baby fingers don't rip it out...

My hairdresser won't let me make any major changes to my hair this far along. Sounds crazy, but she said she has had so many very pregnant ladies come to her asking to "chop it all off" or completely change the color, and then they regret it. She blamed hormones which I understand. So, mine is staying basically as is... it's medium length and I have the balayage look going (love the low maintenance). DD never was in to grabbing my hair, so this length has worked well for me.

There was a fleeting moment when I wanted to chop it (texas heat is killing me), but that would be a bad look for me.

Haha, I just did the "chop it off!" last weekend. I took it 5 inches shorter but it's still below shoulder length. I've been wanting a lob forever and I figured with heat (Texas girl here too), how fast it's growing, and how damaged it was, this was best time to it. No regrets!

I cut mine pretty short before DD was born, but then during delivery it didn't stay in the braid I had put it in to keep it out of my face. This time I'm leaving it long (I haven't cut it since right before DD was born, so over a year ago) so I can put it up more easily. I've found it just as easy to keep my hair pulled back to keep it out of baby hands. Plus DH was really disappointed when I cut it last time, since he likes it long.

I cut my hair shorter a few months ago. I had previously grown it out for our wedding, but normally do short hair. I just had it cut and made sure she took an extra inch off since I'm unsure as to when I'll be able to come in again.

I love my long hair and I'm keeping it (With my two LOs already it hasn't made it more difficult up keeping my hair). Having a baby IMO shouldn't change how you upkeep or want your hair.

I am keeping it long. My hair is pretty fine so it seems my hair only stays put in a braid or a top knot. I hope to get back to running and it seems a top knot works best for that.

My hair was down to right above my butt crack. I had about 3-4 inches cut off last week but it is still super long. Dh likes it long. I do wear it up a lot due to having a 1 year old though. She likes to play with it and it gets stuck in her fingers.

Im keeping it long for now because since its SO thick from the prenatal, the length helps keep it long and straight versus just getting all poofy/frizy from humidity. I probably will do the chop after birth when its cooler and the PP hair loss starts

I had shoulder blade length hair and at my last appointment my stylist recommended more of a chop than I came in thinking I wanted. My hair is super thick, naturally wavy and the thickness had gotten out of control during pregnancy, it was pretty heavy. It's shoulder length now and I'm actually pretty happy with it! I feel lighter!

I cut my hair several months ago, but I had been thinking about it way before I got pregnant. It had nothing to do with wanting mom-hair, just a change. It's not short, but it's just below my shoulders. It used to be half way down my back, but it was soooo flat because of how fine and heavy it was. The shorter length has been fabulous! I'm much cooler in this warmer weather, it takes less time to dry, it actually has some volume now, and it flatters the shape of my face way better! If I didn't like it, I figured doing it while pregnant was the best option since I knew it would grow back super fast lol. Oh, and DD has never been into grabbing at my hair, so that wasn't a factor.

It's so funny that everyone else seems to be thinking about the same thing! I'm going in for a cut in 2 weeks, and I was just thinking how I'd chop off my long hair for a lob. I don't know when I'll make it into the hair dresser after the baby is born so I will want something that is somewhat easy to style if I need to be presentable those first several weeks. I'll keep it long enough for a pony but I also plan to use a huge headband during labor so I'm not too worried about that.

I chopped my hair off more than a year ago. I hate it! I have been growing it out ever since. I was super excited about it growing quicker during pregnancy like it normally does. Not this time. I don't think my hair has grown at all since Christmas. It's in that awkward stage where you just can't do anything with it, so I pull it back every day. Oh, did I mention it's lopsided? Yeah, pretty terrible.
But to answer the original question, I won't be cutting mine. With my previous babies, being able to pull it back was a life saver. There are days you don't get to shower, let alone do your hair. For me, short hair requires a lot more work.

I chopped mine when DS was about 6 months and regretted it bc the maintenance was worse than when it's long for me. With it longer I can get away without having to wash it/straighten it more than when it's a long bob and I have to make it look more done. I did however hair add a ton of lowlights to keep the color maintenance down a bit, figure going every 6 weeks for highlights won't be happening!

I got a cut last week for the first time since a January. I can't wear mine super long because it's fine and it just starts to look stringy. It was a couple inches past my shoulders and I got it cut to my collar bone. I wouldn't want it any shorter than it is now. I'll just pull it up as needed if baby has grabby hands.

I'm with @texasmama2014, just above my shoulders since DS was born. I still can do a pony, but it's much easier to dry, etc. I also have pretty thin hair, so it ends up looking stringy when it's long.

@lotsofsunshine I totally chopped my hair two years ago in April, and it's still not back to its former glory... I got a pixie cut and donated what I could, which was from the tips up to my shoulders (15 inches). It's probably about to the bottom of my shoulder blades now. And I agree, maintenance on long hair is so much easier, despite what people think.

My hair is down almost to my butt and I've been planning on cutting it. I usually grow it really long for a few years then chop it and donate it then do it all again. This is the longest I've had it though.
My hair is straight and fine and suuuuuuuper tangly. It takes hours sometimes to brush out the dreadlocks in the morning and then if a butterfly sneezes in Hong Kong, it's tangled again. There's no way I have time for that when baby gets here.
I'm not very good at girly stuff like decorating, dressing myself or doing hair so I've never styled it no matter what the cut is. My hair just hangs, it won't even hold a curl. I tried to do loose curls for my wedding and despite the hair dressers best efforts, it all fell out and looked awful lol. I once got a perm and it was straight again after 2 washes. So I'm just gonna get it cut to where it's just long enough to put in a ponytail and maybe some bangs just for the hell of it.
But I'm trying to decide when to get the cut. We only have a couple of decent pictures from the pregnancy and although I'm not having any professional pics done, I kinda want to find a way to get a few good pictures with hubby before I chop it all off.

Mine is slightly longer than shoulder length. Im going in for a trim in a few weeks. I dont want to cut it any shorter right now.. It is so thick that it falls out of ponytails easily. But I have been toying with the idea of getting some bangs. Won't do it right now though, but I seriously love Zooey Deschanel's bangs.

I cut my hair after my wedding three years ago and have since grown it back out. I think the long hair is easier to deal with than short hair. Messy mom buns (top knot) all day!!

Before the first time I got a "real" haircut as my hair had grown into a mullet from being verrrrry short. This time I don't plan to cut it (just below shoulders). Last delivery it was really annoying to not be able to put it up/back. I do love short hair, but I like having the ability to pull it all out of the way.

I cut mine last week after the heat wave here. It was down to my mid back, thick and heavy. I couldn't take it so my hairdresser cut it and thinned it out so I can still pull back in pony tail when needed (every day).

My hair was pretty long when I had dd and I cut several inches off when she was about 6 months old only because my ponytail was so long that it would sweep into her face everytime I bent to pick her up. It is still plenty long to do ponytail, braids or buns because I just don't have the patience to straighten it much anymore. Going medium length is by far the least maintenance for me.

I will keep my hair long - I haven't cut / trimmed it in probly 4/5 years. I have trust issues when it comes to hair stylists. I use a deep conditioning treatment (egg yolks, coconut oil, olive oil and honey) every month and it keeps it very healthy. Plus it's so easy to braid or top knot so I can always do that if I need it out of little ones fingers.

I have pretty long hair ( just past the middle of my back) and i typically only cut it once a year. I just got about 4 inches cut off about a month or so ago. I'll continue to let it grow until about next spring then do the same thing all over again. I've always been a long hair girl. It's great to be able to pull it up or braid it to keep it out of the way, and let it down for special occasions.

I chopped my hair, elbow length to shoulder length, during my pregnancy with dd1 and have kept it shorter (shoulder length or so) since. My hair is naturally curly and I have a ton of it, so it is much easier to deal with when shorter and thinned out a bit. I just went in and had a few inches taken off and will keep it this length until baby (dd2) is a bit older. I don't have time to do anything but throw it in a bun when it is long.

I cut my hair off last summer. It was almost down to my butt, and I cut it to just above my shoulders. Donated 15 inches of hair. I'm only regretting it now that I'm pregnant. I'm glad it's long enough to put in a pony and stuff, but I miss being able to just put it in a braid. My hair doesn't look good at this length when it air dries, and blow drying isn't going to happen all the time once baby is here. My hair also didn't grow as fast as I'd hoped with being pregnant, so I'm pretty bummed about where it's at right now. Long hair really is easier when you don't have time to devote to it regularly.

I plan to keep my hair long, though the thought of the drain clogs with the post pregnancy increase in lost hair concerns me.

DH on the other hand is contemplating cutting down the beard. It has gotten to 6-8 inches niw and people keep telling him the baby will pull on it.

@liljabee in terms of the beard... DH had a beard when DS was born (not as long as your DH, but very thick) and it wasn't the pulling that made him trim it, but the way it irritated DS's skin. He kept a little stubble, but having a beard didn't work with him kissing and snuggling up with the baby.

@Bookhousegirl My DH will keep his beard too, but will probably trim it some. I hate that he looks so different without it, and the kids look at him funny too! We've been looking at daddy with a beard for so long, it's weird to see him without it!

I am planning on keeping it long as well. I agree with other PP. it is easier to maintain than short hair. I am planning on getting a trim and having it thinned out before DD2 arrives.

Even not pregnant mine grows crazy fast. I had cut it off after my wedding back in November, and it was already back down to my lower back. I cut the 10 inches of growth back off,so it is back to just below my shoulders. Dramatic cut, but I usually do that every 6 months to a year, so nothing I freaked out over. I just can't be bothered to go in every month, and that's what it would need to keep it at roughly the same length.

My hair grows sooo slow! I've been growing it out for... something like 7 years or so? I've had some silly hormone induced urges to chop it off, but I've resisted. It lurks in the back of my mind but I keep telling myself - look at how long it took to get me here!
